listen to your heart 😌

"Can You Handle Your Emotions?"
Emotions are... eh. We all have them, whether we want to or not. Some people have control over their emotions, and some people let their emotions control them. Where does your character fall on this spectrum? More importantly, what's their relationship with their emotions like? Do they bury everything deep, deep down inside, or are they the first one to cry over a sappy movie? Do they even know how they feel about what's going on inside? Pretty meta stuff.
  • No blank top-levels.
  • Instead, characters are to respond to the proposed question: can you handle your emotions? / are you in touch with your feelings?
  • Get deep. Look within. Hear, think feel... or don't.

Sounds a bit like Barbatos there. Not that we meddle too much in the timelines, it's messy, that's his job, keeping them straight, but I know he does some meddling like that. [He says. Ignoring the times Barbatos does something ridiculous like tell Lucifer Diavolo's MINUTE BY MINUTE blow-by-blow itinerary.]

I wouldn't dream of it. [Mentioning -- but:] Are there two you want to set up together, or...?

You should consider more "mythological" stories. They're often just told from the perspective of the animals, if you find the right ones. Native American and African, but also there should be a decent portion in Japan, the Ainu people have a lot of Native American crossover. Then they don't have quite as much of the princess tropes. Ahhhh I'll see if I can ask Leviathan and Simeon for recommendations too. They usually prefer the Seven Lords, and classic high fantasy similar to what you describe, but Levi knows almost every isekai or big manga or anime that comes out of Japan, so there's got to be a few more I would otherwise completely miss.

Not really... they just have an image of me and I'd rather not change it. It means they take me seriously when we're in the field.

[His staff might like him MORE if they saw his softer side, in a way he doesn't care to entertain.]

Those don't sound like bad ideas. [For non-sleeping, outside reading a book material.]

Native Americans have brown bear stories, right? [He does love him some brown bears, too.]

Keep it.

[Lucifer is speaking from his own experiences. There are so many days he has to deal with every single asshole who doesn't view him as evil incarnate and he'd rather they just... did. He can accept working from that position easier than vice versa, but he'll do as he feels he must.]

Yes! [He scribbles a quick note--] The Nez Perce tribe have one called the Man who Married a Bear which is a lot like the Japanese stories of men who marry kitsune. Also, the bear in Northwest Pacific totem symbolizes having a big heart and being protective. When I get a chance, I'll send you some books for reading not sleeping, that are more relaxing. You can even say it's part of your job, because it's part of knowing your enemy inside out and how to best defeat them.

[So far we have 1) Sun Tzu's Art of War
2) Winnie the Pooh -> 1/2way (but not entirely!) just for:
3) Pooh and the Book of Tao
4) Brother Bear
5) Whatever book he can find that crams good lore on Lakota and NorthWest Pacific bear myths.]

[In any case, Lucifer is ecstatic as a good excuse to search certain bookshops for something otherwise off his radar.]

Oh but I should warn you, they're not always as gentle as pandas. [By which he just means stories. He's pretty sure the General knows that the bears themselves are a lot more aggressive than pandas. Pretty sure.] Some of the stories can be quite cursed. Especially if I'm the one coming across them. [That multitasking productivity even in his "off time" thing. Even though he said that... he's putting literally Winnie the Pooh in there. So... Eh.]

[Ope, here comes that fire.]

True, but even the panda has mighty jaws that, when pressed beyond it's beloved comfort zone it can crush bone in a way no human can recover from! Truly a remarkable and relatable animal.

I will find no Earth animal at fault for it's aggression in living in a world infested with humans who can only demand and demand and demand!

...Though admittedly I like looking at soft things and just imagining how nice it would be to touch them. How wonderful it would be to be a warm fluffy creature capable of curling in a ball and tucking your nose into your own fur.

[Fire mode off, happy thought mode has returned.]

[It's probably unsurprising to anyone that Lucifer might prefer the fire mode. He's the devil.] You should see how strong hippos jaws are.

[Likewise, if anything, it's more weird how Lucifer IS calmed down by his sheep-human's presence, so he also totally gets it 10000000%. And isn't fazed by the 180 because... yeah... same.] I still have no idea how soul shapes are decided. I suspect Solomon's stayed human because of his demon contracts and age experience.

Do you watch many nature documentaries?
