"Can You Handle Your Emotions?"

Emotions are... eh. We all have them, whether we want to or not. Some people have control over their emotions, and some people let their emotions control them. Where does your character fall on this spectrum? More importantly, what's their relationship with their emotions like? Do they bury everything deep, deep down inside, or are they the first one to cry over a sappy movie? Do they even know how they feel about what's going on inside? Pretty meta stuff.

• No blank top-levels.
• Instead, characters are to respond to the proposed question: can you handle your emotions? / are you in touch with your feelings?
• Get deep. Look within. Hear, think feel... or don't.

Much like taking Spanish over Punjabi, at least it's proven more useful in day-to-day. As opposed to my history elective.

I mean history is definitely more useful than Punjabi, at least with history you can understand why certain things are the way they are.

No, probably not, but I think I can see how the right kind of history could be useful in our line of work.

It entirely depends but I'm pretty sure that class wasn't it. I considered the psych class but since I have more issues than a magazine, I didn't think it'd be a good idea.

You mean with me instead of the girl in the Punjabi class?

I mean that's probably fair, I think everyone makes the rookie mistake going into psychology trying to diagnose themselves. It's not healthy.

Maybe, but then you'd dive into the nuances of which one it is and then you'd learn all of the tricks. But yeah, easy A.

That's true, we had plenty of overlapping classes and a dorm we shared. Sorry in retrospect.

The perk of super hearing is being able to listen to your childhood psychologist tell your priest all about the diagnosis from the other room. So I have that part on lock.

I'm a pretty aggressive sleeper though, can't imagine that was easy. But...also I'm flattered, probably blushing just a little.

No, it was when I was in St. Agnes so I was a minor ward so it was allowed. It's fine. I just don't think they could've guessed that I overheard.

You are a little bit but it was manageable. I learned a long time ago to focus on other sounds. I'm not sure why you're surprised.

I'm not going to ask you how that made little Matt feel, because that would be very Wilhelm Wundt of me and he's out of my league.

Not surprised, but a little bit self-conscious, I'm glad I was a good roommate overall though.

It was when I was angry about life in general and thought the doctor and grief counselors were idiots so maybe it's better that I did so I didn't internalize all the ways I'm broken. Besides, it was at the same time that little Matt was training with a blind ninja in a basement so I had other things going on.

Nothing to be self conscious about. With all the things I hear, I'm pretty immune.

I guess that makes sense...as a kid, I imagine it feels like your pain is reduced to a list of symptoms, a problem to be charted. Training in the basement with a blind ninja, did it help...I mean it must have channeled you a bit, huh?

I feel a little better knowing I wasn't keeping you up at nights.

There was a lot of that. Feeling like I was someone's problem to be solved. I learned to fight and to control my senses better than I was doing on my own but I suppose it's up to interpretation as to whether it helped me in general. Some people might say otherwise.

If I was bothered by sound to sleep, I wouldn't get any. The world is loud in general.
