Nice. Gives you a chance to get familiar with the city.

Are you looking to work at another club or are you looking to make a change? I feel like it happens a lot that people come to New York and try to start something new.

I mean, I hated the club so not in a hurry to get back into that life.

Don't have a fancy degree of any kind though so can't exactly be too precious about it.

What was so bad about it? I don't have a lot of experience with clubs. The music is too loud and people tend to be assholes. I like dive bars more.

That's one way to think about it but the other is that fancy degrees kind of lock you into a career. What if I decided I wanted to be a lighthouse keeper or fortune cookie writer? I'd have to start from scratch. What do you want to do?

Gross men, mobsters, drug dealing. It sucked.

What do I want to do? I don't know. Survive. Afford rent. Feed the cats.

I mean, that's just Gotham. The whole place is hilariously corrupt.

I mean, it is New Jersey.

You can't expect a born and bred New Yorker to not make a comment about Jersey.

I'll lean on my eternal optimism in people being considered cute instead of annoying like it probably usually is.

Guess not. Doesn't have much of an edge to it when the same born and bred New Yorker enjoyed his conversation with a Jersey girl so much that he'll rearrange his busy schedule and cook for her.

Trust me, when you annoy me, you'll know it.

You know what? I don't think I even have an argument against that. And usually lawyers can argue anything.

I'll have to warn you in advance of all of my annoying habits and traits that are as bad as my optimism.

You could probably figure out an argument if you were talking to someone other than the particular part of Jersey you seem kind of eager to explore.

Sounds like you're already thinking we'll be spending kind of a lot of time around each other. More optimism?

Oh yeah, this argument would have crushed in Newark but talking to a woman from Gotham? I have no chance.

I do like to consider myself a pretty good date so I'll combine optimism with a decent track record.
