[Well there's no gun that he can see, which is good. Logan thinks about the knife tucked into his trousers. The figure has their back to him... But Johnny told him no killing. So he either waits... Or does something.
As much as Johnny would hate it, Logan would much rather the attention was on him. He's sure that he can handle whatever the Black Note throws at him better. And it makes him so angry to see someone terrifying the other man.
He slips through the door, closing it gently. Then he strides over to the two. If he gets close enough he'll gladly do his best to pull the stranger away (as roughly as possible) and get between the two. If not... Well. He'll handle it.]
Whatever the Black Note throws at him? Well, how about a wall of sonic energy that hits Logan with the strength of a physical blow, while making his ears ring and teeth shiver.
"What's this? You're interrupting our conversation. This song doesn't need a new soloist."
Logan has been in many combat situations before, but he's never been hit by something like this before. It makes him stumble back, knocking him off balance and onto a knee as he covers his ears.
This is what he gets for not doing his research, for jumping to Johnny's defence regardless of what the other man wants. Not that it matters now.
Logan gets to his feet again, standing straight, chin up. All the better to glower down his nose at the stranger. "Your conversation is done. Mr Summer has business to attend to."
"Hasn't anyone told you, it's rude to interrupt?" In addition to significant size, whoever's wearing that helmet clearly knows how to fight, launching himself at Logan with a fist in a brass gauntlet aimed at his abdomen.
Johnny shrinks back against the wall, panickedly groping for anything he can use as a weapon.
Logan is quick to back up, instinctively twisting to one side as he does, the swordsman in him coming out rather promptly. It's becoming strikingly apparent that he'd do well to dodge and pick his moment.
The disadvantages are stacking up rather high. His opponent is large, armoured, armed with unusual technology, presumably stronger and better rested than he is, and certainly has had more recent practice. Logan has exactly two advantages: His left-handedness, and the knife hidden an his back. Once they are revealed, however, he doesn't doubt his opponent will adjust accordingly.
So he dodges, stays out of reach. His punches aren't the best, he never did like boxing much, but he might be able to unbalance the stranger. Maybe even topple him, if he's throwing all his weight behind each throw. All Logan has to do is step outside the punch and 'encourage' his opponent forward. A well placed foot will help too. If he can spot the opportunity.
The opportunity won't be given for free; the Black Note moves like a boxer, rather than a swordsman, coming in close with a dramatic, metallic laugh, seeming determined to pen Logan in the way he'd already done to Johnny.
This is not the kind of fighting he's used to, and he can feel himself giving ground away as if he has no end of it. Except that he does. The corridor is finite and too narrow to easily duck around his opponent.
He takes a chance, moving his hand to draw the knife as he steps to one side, hoping to disguise the motion. Then he strikes upwards, hoping to catch under the Black Note's arm. Hoping to hit some unarmoured part of him.
The knife doesn't find armor, but instead meat that parts before the knife, and eventually bone. There's a groan, as the Note grabs for Logan's arm, trying to gain control of the knife and the situation.
And that's when Johnny comes in behind the Black Note, whacking at his legs with some sort of length of brass pipe that's being used in his Evil Science Weapon/Armor construction. This takes the large man further off-balance.
There is a moment of relief, and then panic as his arm is grabbed, and then surprise as the Black Note is thrown off-balance. He takes the opportunity to try and help force the stranger to stumble, but he's distracted to realise that Johnny is still here, and helping.
He looks from the Black Note, to Johnny, the wheels in his head turning. This could be self-defence. He might be able to end this now. To save Johnny. To get rid of the Black Note forever.
But Johnny can't be here. Can't be caught up in this.
Anyone else issuing Johnny orders would be ignored, argued with. But in this moment, Johnny chooses to put complete trust in Logan, in a way he never has in anyone else.
He goes.
The Black Note begins to pick himself up, to prepare retaliation as Johnny runs for the stairs.
"Who are you, stepping into the middle of this situation? He's not worthy of defending."
"Good men are always worth defending." And with that he jumps on the other man. Upright, the Black Note has the advantage. If Logan can keep him pinned...
The prince tries to pull his knife out of the man's flesh so that he can make a few more well placed injuries.
The gloves that allow the Note to punch harder are not good for the task of grabbing one's opponent when they're using you as a jungle gym. He's sacrificed dexterity for power, and here is where he pays the price for it, stumbling and thrashing like a bull, but ultimately unable to keep Logan from the knife.
Logan might not be the strongest man in the world, but he was well fed, and well trained, and his height affords him a bit of weight. Enough to put power behind pushing limbs away to get a better spot to sink the knife in.
He remembers telling Johnny that one shouldn't draw a weapon unless they're prepared to take a life. He knows Johnny told him not to kill this man. But one day this man very well could kill Johnny. Would, without question, he's sure of it. Maybe they'll lock him up anyway, but that seems a fair trade. Johnny has more good to do. It comes naturally to him.
Besides, this wouldn't be the first execution Logan's been responsible for. Just the first he's done personally.
Helmets don't protect the neck. Not fully. Logan grabs the helmet and yanks the man's head up, aiming the knife up and under. Whether he gets the throat or the chin, he doesn't care. As long as the man stops moving by the end of it.
There are pathetic wet sounds and there is piscine writhing, like a bass on a fishhook, as the Black Note realizes how screwed he is. Blood darkens his black cape and the clothes under it; blood stains Logan's hands and renders the knife slippery.
It is not an easy death, the one given to the Black Note.
Killed by a kitchen knife. It's an appropriately humble end for a man who seemed to like theatrics.
Logan waits until there's no more movement, before allowing himself to relax. The adrenaline will wear off shortly, he knows. He pulls the knife out, wiping it clean on the cloak before he slowly gets up off the body.
There's so much blood. He's more scared of what Johnny will think than what the police will do to him. But he does need to find Johnny. To make sure he's alright. He uses the cape to clean what he can before heading to the stairwell. He doesn't even know where Johnny would go. To his apartment, Logan hopes. He can try there first.
Johnny is not inside the apartment, but sitting outside it. Waiting, fear written in deep lines on his face until the moment he realizes that Logan is okay alive, in front of him.
"Are you hurt?" Levering to his feet immediately, moving closer without hesitation.
"Shit." Johnny's eyes widen, as he realizes what that means in full. It's something he probably should have expected. But what is he supposed to do now? With a corpse in his building and a lover stained in heart's blood?
"Shit!"
He pulls out a cigarette. Something has to give and the need for nicotine is the quickest to solve.
He knew Johnny wouldn't be happy, but the cursing takes him by surprise. He thought the other man might at least be a little... relieved?
"I'll deal with it." He has no idea how to deal with it. Before now he would have people to sort out the smallest thing for him. Surely it can't be that hard?
Well that gets a look of disapproval. "I told you before, you're not weak. You were put in a difficult situation."
He looks to the stairs and back again, holding up the knife. "This needs to be put away. Will you take it and put it in your place for now? I'll go down to deal with our friend downstairs."
"Deal with him how? Are you going to hide the body, or...?"
Like, yes, he's taking the knife as he says that, because there's no arguing with that request, but Johnny doesn't have a clear idea of what comes next, and that's scary.
"I'll take the body and leave it in a back alley as far as I can bring it. Once the police see who it is, they'll understand that his time ran out. That's what happens when you attack people. I don't expect that they'll look too hard for his killer."

All the more reason to keep him close. No ulterior motives there.
Dirty enough when people start climbing inside them.
