"Good men are always worth defending." And with that he jumps on the other man. Upright, the Black Note has the advantage. If Logan can keep him pinned...
The prince tries to pull his knife out of the man's flesh so that he can make a few more well placed injuries.
The gloves that allow the Note to punch harder are not good for the task of grabbing one's opponent when they're using you as a jungle gym. He's sacrificed dexterity for power, and here is where he pays the price for it, stumbling and thrashing like a bull, but ultimately unable to keep Logan from the knife.
Logan might not be the strongest man in the world, but he was well fed, and well trained, and his height affords him a bit of weight. Enough to put power behind pushing limbs away to get a better spot to sink the knife in.
He remembers telling Johnny that one shouldn't draw a weapon unless they're prepared to take a life. He knows Johnny told him not to kill this man. But one day this man very well could kill Johnny. Would, without question, he's sure of it. Maybe they'll lock him up anyway, but that seems a fair trade. Johnny has more good to do. It comes naturally to him.
Besides, this wouldn't be the first execution Logan's been responsible for. Just the first he's done personally.
Helmets don't protect the neck. Not fully. Logan grabs the helmet and yanks the man's head up, aiming the knife up and under. Whether he gets the throat or the chin, he doesn't care. As long as the man stops moving by the end of it.
There are pathetic wet sounds and there is piscine writhing, like a bass on a fishhook, as the Black Note realizes how screwed he is. Blood darkens his black cape and the clothes under it; blood stains Logan's hands and renders the knife slippery.
It is not an easy death, the one given to the Black Note.
Killed by a kitchen knife. It's an appropriately humble end for a man who seemed to like theatrics.
Logan waits until there's no more movement, before allowing himself to relax. The adrenaline will wear off shortly, he knows. He pulls the knife out, wiping it clean on the cloak before he slowly gets up off the body.
There's so much blood. He's more scared of what Johnny will think than what the police will do to him. But he does need to find Johnny. To make sure he's alright. He uses the cape to clean what he can before heading to the stairwell. He doesn't even know where Johnny would go. To his apartment, Logan hopes. He can try there first.
Johnny is not inside the apartment, but sitting outside it. Waiting, fear written in deep lines on his face until the moment he realizes that Logan is okay alive, in front of him.
"Are you hurt?" Levering to his feet immediately, moving closer without hesitation.
"Shit." Johnny's eyes widen, as he realizes what that means in full. It's something he probably should have expected. But what is he supposed to do now? With a corpse in his building and a lover stained in heart's blood?
"Shit!"
He pulls out a cigarette. Something has to give and the need for nicotine is the quickest to solve.
He knew Johnny wouldn't be happy, but the cursing takes him by surprise. He thought the other man might at least be a little... relieved?
"I'll deal with it." He has no idea how to deal with it. Before now he would have people to sort out the smallest thing for him. Surely it can't be that hard?
Well that gets a look of disapproval. "I told you before, you're not weak. You were put in a difficult situation."
He looks to the stairs and back again, holding up the knife. "This needs to be put away. Will you take it and put it in your place for now? I'll go down to deal with our friend downstairs."
"Deal with him how? Are you going to hide the body, or...?"
Like, yes, he's taking the knife as he says that, because there's no arguing with that request, but Johnny doesn't have a clear idea of what comes next, and that's scary.
"I'll take the body and leave it in a back alley as far as I can bring it. Once the police see who it is, they'll understand that his time ran out. That's what happens when you attack people. I don't expect that they'll look too hard for his killer."
"If it's still snowing, that might help conceal the body for a little longer." The weather's been awful all week, but they can use that to their advantage. Johnny nods quietly.
Johnny nods slightly. "I'm aware of that. It's not all going to be cleaned up right at this moment. That's going to take supplies I don't generally have on hand for that amount of blood. The carpets will need replacing entirely, walls painted."
But he also really needs Logan. Wants to help him clean himself up and make sure he's in a good headspace.
All very sensible, that's a relief. Knowing how to go about all of that is not his area. He nods once more and heads off.
Down a few flights, he pauses, and leans against the wall to catch his breath. His hands are beginning to tremble, but there's no time for that right now. A deep breath, a slow exhale, and he sets off again.
Moving the Black Note is difficult. He's large, heavy, and covered in blood. Logan struggles to get the body over his shoulders, and is slow as he brings it down the stairs. Although that's in part because he's trying to be careful. The last thing he needs is to run into someone. At least his being here so long means he knows the building, knows its rhythm a little better, knows how to leave without attracting attention. Once he's into the streets it will be harder, but he'll take his time, and push his luck to get it further away from Johnny.

"No." He looks at the knife in his hand, both still stained red, and then to Johnny regretfully. "I know you told me not to. But he came at me."
He didn't want the Black Note to leave alive. To take his anger out on Johnny. But he's not going to say that.

Because is somehow Johnny's failure.
