Otherwordly Meme

Sometimes all you need is a word to spark off an idea.
1. Post a comment with your character's name, canon, and any preferences you may have (no shipping, no smut, etc.)
2. Leave the comment blank or post a word or two in the body.
It may also help if you list scenarios you would like to play.
3. Reply to other people, either with words you picked out, or words they posted as prompts for a thread.

"What's it like for you?" Danny asks, lacing his fingers with Matt's as they walk along the narrow ledge of the Rand building, it's a good view of Harlem from here, even if the city is quiet tonight. Danny had been working late and Matt's visit was the perfect excuse for a break.
He likes it up here, even if his partner can't enjoy the same view. "Heights I mean..."

Matt has no problems maneuvering. His steps are as light and sure as Danny's, and the question makes him smile. He just shrugs.
"Freeing?" Matt laughs at his answer. "Above the noise and the stress of the city, you can't get that anywhere else. I don't know you. If you can't see the fall, there's no reason to fear it."
no subject
"You look down and there's this thrill, like in the pit of your stomach because you're up so high." He reaches up to stroke Matt's cheek.
no subject
Matt turns his head into the touch, trying to press a kiss to Danny's palm. His smile just grows. "That's my favorite part. The weightlessness when you finally jump, the feeling of your gravity shifting and your stomach dropping." It must be the same feeling as looking down, or something similar. "I remember, I think, from when I was a kid, when I was somewhere high and I'd look down ... My feet would tingle?"
no subject
"Are we gonna jump?"
no subject
But they always end up jumping. Matt, especially, can never resist it, though maybe this isn't the time or place for it. Nevermind that he knows exactly where the surrounding buildings are. He's had practice at this one.
no subject
"Want to make it a race?"
no subject
Matt laughs, too. He steps off the ledge, because a running start is always the best. But first, while they're both on a more secure part of the roof, Matt tugs Danny into a light kiss.
"Where are we racing to?"
no subject
"The park?"
no subject
"If anything, I'm at a disadvantage, what with us being in Harlem." He pats Danny's hip. "All right. I'll even let you do the count down."
no subject
"Then I'll warn you to watch for that drop in two blocks." He lines up with Matt, bumping their shoulders. "Count of three?"
And of course, because Danny's actually the dirty cheater. "One.... three" and bolts ahead in a sprint and dives off the roof.

There are moments where he loses track of Danny and finds him again. At least it lets Matt know that he's on the right track.

But, still. He knows when his special brand of deadly is of more use than in the neighborhood killing gangbangers, and magical resurrecting ninjas is the sort of party the Rider is more capable than most of crashing. And crash he does, though he only finds two tonight: neither tells him anything useful, so he turns them into ash. They've run guns, and trafficked humans, they've killed and worse. They deserved it.
He could have left it at that, taken off immediately like he usually does, but he's heard as many stories as anyone else about the devil of Hell's Kitchen, so he puts his face back on and loiters just a little bit. Keys in hand, flipping them into his palm just to hear them clink. He's not afraid. He's convinced this can't get back to him the way things in LA could.
When Daredevil shows, Robbie looks him over. The horns, the bright red covering his eyes... maybe not as dramatic as a skull on fire, but he's certainly picked his theme. Robbie has been curious since the news reports started, so he straightens up, smelling like nothing but fire and car exhaust: no sweat, no blood, nothing. His voice is a little hoarse, and naturally quiet. "Did you make a deal with the devil too?" What an interesting way to say hello, or this isn't what it looks like, honest!
no subject
He's not expecting it when he does.
The members of the Hand that he's been after, he loses too easily. Like they stop existing all together. Which isn't even the weirdest part, because when he finds who he's been ultimately seeking, there's something ... Off. Not like anything Matt's encountered, at least, which puts him on guard.
"What?"
no subject
Still, that's probably a no, then.
Well, he didn't actually expect anything, he'd just. Thought, you know, maybe.
Dubiously: "Or do you just dress like that?"
no subject
"If the shoe fits," he replies. Would the devil himself enjoy having someone like Matt crusading under his name? And doesn't the word devil itself now refer to demons as a whole. It's not important.
"Is there something I can do for you?"
no subject
Mostly it's a nice change of pace from the bizarrely insistent skepticism from the people who dealt with aliens and monsters all the time.
"It's already done," he jerks his chin towards where the Hand's ninjas had been dispatched by his inner demons, as it were. It's an unpleasant business, getting on the Ghost Rider's bad side, so it's probably a good sign that Robbie doesn't sense anything particularly damning about Daredevil. "Unless you know where the rest of them are."
no subject
"I can take care of them."
He's got a pretty personal vendetta with them, after all, and he's been trained to fight them. This isn't anyone else's fight.
no subject
He doesn't know what they are to Daredevil, only that they've done enough to the people of New York that they caught the devil's attention. There are so many victims who need so much vengeance. Who better to deliver?
Robbie is maybe a little arrogant in his belief that he's the solution to the problem. Just a smidge. He shrugs, flipping his keys one last time to find the one that goes in the ignition. "If you're smart you won't make this more difficult for yourself than it needs to be."
no subject
"You should take your own advice. You don't know what you're getting into, and I don't need to be running around cleaning up your messes."
no subject
no subject
Because there are more, plenty more, where that came from. And Matt doesn't know they're disintegrated, so as far as he's concerned, the Hand will just bring them back. Or whatever it is they do.
"You're out of your depth here. Go home."
