The "Knight"/"Prince/ss *" Meme * that's gender neutral It's fairly simple, really, no royalty required. One of you is the "princess:" sweet, gentle, possibly energetic, always full of life and innocence. The other is the "knight:" stoic, or at least serious about protecting that one special person, dedicated, strong, a fighter. And the two of you are in love, even if one...less expressive than the other. Together romantically or not, there's something that connects you, most likely a driving need to protect. But don't let the normal conventions full you, the "princess" (or "prince," as it may be, because the terms here are gender neutral) is just as important. Someone has look to the emotional well-being and happiness of the "knight," and often, those "knights" need a lot of help. Comment with your character and preferences. [Amongst the things Kaede should be sorry for today: picking a fight with everyone up to and including the captain of the guard when she missed curfew in the pre-dawn hours, missing curfew to begin with, exposing security holes in the castle guard shifts by wandering out on one of her...sleepwalking fits, terrifying half a dozen innkeepers and bakers that were convinced there was some red-haired demon haunting their doorsteps. And that was just today.

Should be sorry for, but wasn't at all. Much like a cat. She was even nonchalantly examining her nails when the Knight Commander was berating her in between servants attending to her split lip, black eye, and scratched horns.

If Kaede wasn't so frighteningly good at killing things she'd have gotten in much worse trouble years ago. But she'd somehow made friends (a generous term) with nobles, and the people who made decisions—and as long as she annihilated whatever political enemy they aimed her at, they were content to ignore her numerous infractions.

But it wouldn't be terribly diplomatic to just let her wander around off the leash when foreign dignitaries were due any day now. There would be a festival soon, with bright lights on the snow and in the sky, and opportunities to renew old treaties for those who dared the ice—or who could spare the expense to arrive early.

So they sent Kaede off to the one person who could make her behave—as a bodyguard, ostensibly. Which she was good at! As well as taking up space on one of the couches in the royal apartments.]

[More likely to be a prince or princess (their gender is up to you if you have a preference, though I default to male) rather than a knight. If, however, you want them to play the knight, Frisk is more likely to simply act as a human shield but maybe certain things could fix their broken FIGHT command...? When struck by certain magic attacks, this can change their Soul Mode accordingly (such as green = defensive spear). Regardless of role, when it comes to skirmishes, their Soul is visible, and therefore vulnerable.

If she's in the guarded princess role, don't expect her to be meek and reliant on her knight. This is a girl who can cut you with blade or projected sonic force, after all.

[Definitely a prince(ss), if a rather unusually physically capable and pragmatic one. If there's not some really heavy AU-ing going on, this kind of scenario is most likely to work as a strong but non-romantic type of love (or one-sided romantic feelings on the other character's part and more platonic affection/Romantic Friendship sort of feelings on Ashura's side), with one specific character as an exception. With that in mind, I'm open to cross-canon, strangers, AUs, etc!]

[Of note: Ashura is an in-canon AU of a character who is canonically neither male nor female physically, and who doesn't in either incarnation show particular signs of identifying with either gender more or less than the other. Considering that, I do play this character as non-binary, using "sie" and "hir" as pronouns. Sie doesn't typically have a problem with being perceived or spoken of as either male or female, though, so it's not a problem to Ashura if your character would think of hir as a woman or a man. (People of any gender are of roughly the same level of romantic interest to hir, which is to say that gender is irrelevant next to the category of "My One Important Person or not My One Important Person.)]
