She is the one, and I have a purpose:
* that's gender neutral ![]() It's fairly simple, really, no royalty required. One of you is the "princess:" sweet, gentle, possibly energetic, always full of life and innocence. The other is the "knight:" stoic, or at least serious about protecting that one special person, dedicated, strong, a fighter. And the two of you are in love, even if one...less expressive than the other. Together romantically or not, there's something that connects you, most likely a driving need to protect. But don't let the normal conventions full you, the "princess" (or "prince," as it may be, because the terms here are gender neutral) is just as important. Someone has look to the emotional well-being and happiness of the "knight," and often, those "knights" need a lot of help.

[But 'Krista's' act was meant to trick other people. What's sort of interesting is that Ymir's played-up selfishness, while in a way more honest (she's at least playing up traits she actually has, more often than not) often seems to be about convincing herself of something.]
[Historia smiles at her, as fond as if she'd said something really romantic -- in her way, she supposes she did, even if it was hidden in jokes and unsaid implications.]
Well, let's see. This morning, we've got a few options...
Survey Corps rations, Survey Corps rations, or maybe Survey Corps rations?
There are some of the berries we found yesterday left over, too, I think.
no subject
[ She scoffs, rolling her head back and giving the sky, trees, leaves, whatever is above them a nice long look. Obviously she doesn't wanna die but... but rations. Rations. Rations. ]
We should've kidnapped a cow when we left. [ She scoffs again but looks Historia's way this time, grinning with all of her charm. All of it. ] You could carry it, right?
no subject
[You know, with her being 4'9" and under a hundred pounds. That sounds totally doable.]
...But you know, we should see more game the further we go from the walls. The Titans won't eat deer and things like that, right?
[Things are pretty hopeful, except the "they will totally 100% eat us if they find us and there's only so much 3DMG gas" part!]
no subject
[ She has her shifting ability, sure, but without any gas for their gear it's not going to be too easy to travel. Shifting can take a lot out of you and it doesn't always mean you're safe. Plus it's not like she's against having Historia riding her (ha ha ha) but is it safe? Not always, and that's not enough.
A few days of worrying about this stuff hasn't given her a solution and, while reluctant, it might be better to ask Historia's opinion. Subtly, of course. ]
When the gas runs out we're gonna need to have a place to stay. I think we should buy a mansion.
no subject
[But she smiles, as she begins to dig out the carefully collected berries (and the rations).]
Do you think we could find one?
no subject
[ She knows! She knows, but she couldn't resist the joke. Can't resist pretending to have some super awesome logic, either. ]
Mansions might be a little harder to come by, but I bet we find at least three by tomorrow. It's not like anyone will be living in them either, so we can move right in.
no subject
Would it be safe to stay somewhere like that?
no subject
[ Harsh truth aside, Ymir takes some food and bites it down. Ew. She ate the rations, but even when she glares it tastes better than people; trust her. ]
We can build a tree house. [ Or is that a world only weird plot-vague titan folk know about??? ]
no subject
Build a treehouse, and hunt and raid empty towns at night when the titans are inactive?
[That... actually sounds more plausible than she'd quite dared to hope for.]
no subject
[ Things stopped at a shelter for her because she's eating already so she doesn't need to think about food. Good thing Historia is here to keep her on track with that but, as she's soon going to demonstrate, Historia has a way of distracting her.
Cue cocky smile. ]
Surely we'll have some nights to ourselves though, yeah?
no subject
[Ymir was Ymir, and wouldn't be anyone else for anyone. It was a comforting, wonderful thing about her.]
You're thinking about that sort of thing now?
no subject
[ She admits it but she doesn't seem genuinely embarrassed. Like. At all. No shame, right??? It's not her fault they both still have their uniforms on. It's not her fault Historia is rocking those tight ass trousers.
It's not her fault at all for staring all the time!! ] Should I maybe think of something else? I could do that, I think.
no subject
[...Well, whatever.]
I don't remember saying that I minded. I was just surprised.
no subject
[ Said in the most monotonous voice someone like Ymir could muster up and, after hearing Historia says she didn't say she minded, that was a hard tone of voice to pull off. She ought to get an Oscar. Whatever that means. ]
I was just kidding, but you made things so weird, Historia. Oh no.
no subject
[(Honestly, she kind of loves what a facetious pain in the ass Ymir is. She worked and worked at striking everyone as kind, good, sweet, virtuous, worth something... and then there was Ymir, abrasive, calculating, openly selfish, shameless, utterly unapologetic for everything. Strong enough to not need the approval Historia poured so much work into trying to get, able to see right through her lies to the terrified, cynical core of her and still act as if she, too, could have that same strength... People were always so confused by how much time she spent with Ymir, how much she indulged her, but they had it completely wrong. How was she supposed to not be entranced by someone like that?)]
[She bites her lip a little, but isn't going to just let Ymir get away with teasing her like that without at least teasing back, now that no one else is here to hear it.]
Sorry to have misled you. Maybe you're going to have to march back up to the walls, so you can demand some sort of a refund or exchange.
no subject
Smooth. Quick, smirk like an idiot. That always works as a backup plan. ] So, what, you're admitting that you belong to me? Pretty brave, isn't it? Especially for you?
[ Damn damn damn her heart is racing what the hell this wasn't part of the plan. Like. At all. ] Do I get to use you however I want?
no subject
[...Worth it, though, to see Ymir thrown off her guard for once.]
I... I don't know if it's much braver than running off like this with you in the first place. Right?
[She has no clever answer for that last part, and is just going to... pretend it didn't happen? Maybe? Oh god what is she doing, what is her life?]
no subject
That's not the question you should answer, Historia!
[ Tackle hug...?! In the trees?! She likes to live dangerously. ]
no subject
[On the bright side, if she falls out of this tree, there are pretty decent odds the fall would kill her before the titans got there?]
[That's. Not really much of a bright side, so she finds herself clinging with one arm to Ymir and grasping a branch tightly in the other hand.]
...W-Was there another question, anyway?
[Yes, she's going to play dumb. Look, playing dumb has served her very well in the past!]
no subject
I don't know, was there? Did I ask you something else?
[ Her hand moves next, setting its sights on the hand on that branch. Give up control of the situation to her, Historia. Or have common sense and headbutt her. Whatever. ]
no subject
[Historia smiles up at Ymir, then moves to flip over on top of her and move them both back closer to safety. Looks like someone learned something from all those hand-to-hand combat classes after all!]
I can't recall. Must not have been anything important.
no subject
[ Eek? EEEK? Not as planned. Not as planned! Suddenly getting countered like that was her own fault, underestimating Historia was a dumb move but what did her in was the smile. Marry her, dammit!
No but if she could not focus on the rising heat in Ymir's face that'd be super. Eek. Kill her now. ] D-Don't fuck around at this height. It's dangerous.
no subject
[No, honestly. Now all of a sudden Ymir is concerned about safety? Historia, still sort of pinning Ymir (as much as someone as small as her can manage to, anyway), folds over with laughter, leaning heavily onto the arm that's resting just next to Ymir's head.]
It wasn't dangerous a moment ago? Ymir...
no subject
It's mortifying to have Historia laugh at her like that. Revenge must be hers. ] It's because... I've got more control than you! You'd send up both falling down and you know it.
no subject
[Okay look, she doesn't intend for her incredulity to be quite as obvious as it is, but Ymir of all people, compared with the kind of self-control it's taken her to literally just consistently fake her way through every interaction she's had with most people for three years without a single lapse that would let them catch on?]
I haven't sent us falling yet.
