I have loved you for a thousand years... Some say that if a pair of lovers die together in tragedy, they will get another chance when they are reborn. Even if the two of you keep losing each other, you'll get to meet again. This meme is that meeting. For the first time? For the hundredth time? That much isn't clear. What is clear is that on this, your seeming first meeting - Everything rushes back to you. Memories, emotion, and all the comes with it...including the memory of how you two died. Overwhelming, isn't it? Some people find it hard to accept, for good reason. What will you do? You can't just bring it up, they'll think you're crazy! Maybe you don't want to bring it up, as you refuse to believe it yourself. And even if you do believe it, that doesn't mean you have to embrace it. You're your own person, after all. You refuse to love someone merely because of who you were in the past. Or maybe you can't help but let these feelings rise to the surface because they're too strong. No matter what, you can't repress it. In fact, the more you two meet and spend time together, the more you find yourself falling back into the old roles...and making the old mistakes. That isn't good, though; there's one more thing. One of you, when you first met, had a vision about how the two of you would die this time. You can't let that happen. Not again. Comment with your character and your preferences. Feel free to do a modern AU of your character. Assumed CR and AUs are a must here. Don't feel obligated to stick with first meetings. Play that the characters have known each other for a while, are trying to have a relationship while trying to be their own unique selves, not having a relationship because THE PAST DOESN'T DEFINE ME, or even trying to avoid death in an adventurous fashion! He'd wanted to fight Xanxus since he'd realized how strong he was. It was the only reason, really, they'd been able to drag Kyoya into this mess of rings and inheritance in the first place. He'd let that blond moron with the whip drag him across the countryside near endlessly because he wanted something to sharpen his fangs on. It had been all of a blink of his eyes between taking out that worthless robot and challenging him. He hadn't anticipated how it would go, however.

When he'd jumped up, his foot hitting his tonfa, saying he'd slipped, Kyoya had found himself drowning in memories. Not his, except they are. Except he's older, blond with blue eyes, and less disinterested, he's part of something, cares for someone, even if he tries to keep to the fringes. There's a man with a striking resemblance to Xanxus, save for the long hair, the ponytail he used to curl fingers in. He remembers lips on his lips, bodies under sheets, and he remembers what it felt like to love a man like that, powerful and inescapable. But lives in the mafia never live things out to their conclusion, and they die in fire and bullets.

He tries to not let on how shaken he is, tries to if anything prove that much more how he's going to bite him to death, and there's a sharp smile when he makes Xanxus raise his hand before everything crumbles. Attacking his precious school and giving Xanxus another chance at victory.

It's three years later when they meet again. The chaos of Tsuna officially taking on the title of Vongola Decimo in more than just name. Not than Xanxus acts like he cares, but there are families making trouble, and Reborn's sent him with a mission for the Varia. So Kyoya's in a tailored suit, and it's a cafe in Florence instead of his home ground of Namimori. He doesn't like the prospect of having to work with the Varia, but with how he insists on being unattached, it makes him the best person to handle things at the moment.

He's late, and there's the scent of ashes and gunfire hanging around him, a nick on his right shoulder. At first, he doesn't see the man, that heat and presence and memory, but it's like he can feel him. He's out back, smoking a cigarette, and Kyoya doesn't say anything as he stands next to him, leans against the balcony he's smoking over. He feels like he owes him a punch in the face. Or his hands on his tie and kisses that never really stop. He flushes and looks off to the side. With the two of them, in a cafe owned by an allied family, it wasn't like it was particularly clandestine, but somehow the man's attitude annoyed him, or maybe it was just his face. The fact that he wanted to touch him when he looked at him.

"If you're going to smoke, you should share," Kyoya commented quietly, a hint of only half-genuine amusement and not really expecting him to. But it was something to break the silence when there was nothing he wanted to talk about here. Murder or memories that even haunted his dreams. Impossible, frustrating man.

The only thing left of the sun is bright stains of orange and pink when Porthos steps foot in the Musketeers' garrison for the first time, a bag slung over his shoulder and a deck of cards in his pocket.

The smell of horses and leather is strong, striking, and the noise of men, gathered around a squat bench, is both comforting and nerve-wracking. He is used to noise - the Court of Miracles was most often full of it - but this is different somehow. He doesn't know the faces of these men, the brims of their hats low on their foreheads and their chatter unfamiliar. A few pass him as he stands just inside the entrance, heading to the stables, but they barely spare him a glance. He hesitates a moment, frustration - more at himself than anyone else - warming in his stomach.

With determination, he approaches the men sitting at the bench, but just before he clears his throat to interrupt them and ask where he might find a Captain Treville, he notices a man standing off to the side, leaning against the rough wall. He decides he'd rather take his chances with a single man than a group, and takes a step toward him, straightening as he opens his mouth. He lets his voice come out low, quiet, so as not to draw attention, but purposeful.

"I'm looking for the Captain," he says, adjusting his bag, waiting for the man to lift his head and hopefully give him an answer.

The small book the man has been looking at is closed, and Aramis slips his Bible back into his doublet. When he looks up, he's caught. He doesn't know this man, not in the least, though he knows the type, of course, rough around the edges, but thinks no less of him, of course. Until one walks a mile in the shoes of the other man, and all that.

But no, it's not that. There is something else. Something niggling the back of his mind. "The captain - " He has to give himself a shake; he is usually much more together than this. "Upstairs."
