Deadly Traps Meme
A Deadly Trap Disguised As A Meme
I have a bad feeling about this...

Look who just failed a perception check! That's right, it's you!
Whether you've just triggered an awful trap, wandered into a dangerous place, or picked up a cursed amulet, you're about to have a very bad time. I sure hope you brought someone to help you get out of Situations™ because you're not getting out of this on your own.
Instructions:
- Post with your character (name, fandom, preferences, feelings on assumed CR, which prompts you like)
- Other people reply to your comment with a prompt.
- One or the other of you triggers a deadly trap.
- Good Luck!
01. Whispers in the Dark
This place gives you the heebie-jeebies. Has it been getting darker and darker as you walk? Why do you feel eyes watching you from the shadows? What was that noise!? Whether you grab the wrong thing as you grope along the wall in the dark, or whether you try to light a cursed torch, all of a sudden you have an overwhelming feeling of dread. Did you just hear something? Was that sound real? Are you hallucinating? I'm not paranoid, you're paranoid!
Did you just hear your friends snickering about you? Are they planning to kill you? You should do something before it's too late!
02. Sticky Fingers
See that thing over there? Looks cool, right? You hadn't expressly planned on stealing anything, but there's no harm in picking something up to get a better look. Unfortunately, that object you just picked up is extremely cursed. The instant your hand closes around it, you can't let go. It's stuck to you no matter what you do! Then, to your horror, you realize the cursed object is deforming, growing, and it starts spreading up your arm.
03. No Entry
For some reason, the threshold ahead of you simply won't let you cross it. When you try, it's like walking into a wall. There's some invisible force preventing you and only you from moving forward. Did you piss off the Deity of Doorways? Who knows. Everyone else can saunter back and forth as they please, but not you. You could try to go backward and find a new route, but the threshold behind you seems to have fallen in line with the one ahead.
You're trapped.
04. Marked
The object in front of you seems banal enough but when you reach out and touch it, it burns the absolute shit out of your hand. You drop it immediately, of course, and while the burning has stopped, it leaves a mark seared into your skin.
And...now that mark is glowing.
You get the distinct feeling that it's not a good glowing mark. Coincidentally, you also get the feeling that something horrible is now en route to precisely your location.
05. String 'em Up
Whoever occupied this place last, they set up some really nasty surprises. And, wouldn't you know it, you just triggered one! The moment you look too closely at that mirror, in that pond, or at your reflection in the black glass walls, your vision goes hazy and you lose consciousness. Unfortunately for everyone else, your body keeps on moving, animated by an invisible force. Whatever is moving you around, it really wants to kill everyone involved in this situation, starting with your friend(s).
Let's hope they can wake you up before you do too much damage.
06. Environmental Factors
Did you just...pick that thing up?
The actual object is harmless, little more than a gaudy trinket, but the pedestal it was on is now slowly sinking into the floor. There's a distant sound of mechanical parts creaking into motion and--uh, excuse me--is the ceiling getting closer? Are the walls closing in? Are those spikes??? Were those there before????
You really should have remembered to bring something of equal weight to swap for your new treasure. Too bad you didn't, now you have to find a way out ASAP.
07. Not a Place of Honor
This structure is enormous, spooky and very, very dusty. It's like nobody has been in here for centuries! Unfortunately, not a person among you can read any of the posted warnings, but it's not like you would have listened anyway. After all, they're just signs, what are they gonna do to stop you? Nothing, that's what.
This place is too amazing to leave it unexplored. Why, there has to be loads of interesting research, shocking discoveries, or rare treasure in here! There sure are an alarming number of locks on these doors, but that just means the good stuff is up ahead! You'll be at the center soon! I sure hope it's not filled with creepy black alien eggs or extreme radiation.
08. Diamond in the Rough
For some reason you are literally the only person who can open this door. If anyone wants to get inside this place, they have to do it as your plus one. Whether you volunteered to let them in, or "volunteered" to let them in, well, you're here now.
Inside it's amazing--wonderous--unbelievable even! The whole place is full of treasures beyond your wildest dreams. Enough wealth that you could buy your own moon. But remember what the ominous warning at the door said: NO TOUCHING. If you do, the walls might start to melt, or the whole place could just sink into the ground--
Oh hey! Neat, is that a cursed book of the damned? You've always wanted one of those!
09. I'm Great At Puzzles!
So this door is kind of weird and extremely busted. It looks like you can get it open, but you'll have to fill all the conspicuously empty indentations on the door. Good thing you have all these plates with weird symbols on them! They're just lying around on the floor--well, except the one that skeleton is holding.
Never mind how this all portends. This looks easy, practically a cake-walk--you've always been good at those stupid sliding pieces games. This is nothing.
What happens if you put them in the wrong spots? Well. I wouldn't recommend doing that. This place has a distinct motif of giant snakes on just about everything. Could just be bad decor, could be that the person who built it was a reptile enthusiast, or it could be a warning--who's to say?
10. Always with the Riddles
Of course this darkened hall of nondescript doorways has an ominous riddle carved into the floor. Why wouldn't it? Why put in a map when you could put in a prophetic warning?
Now, you have a choice, you could spend the time trying to decipher what the cryptic floor message means, or you could just spin around and take a wild guess. In either case, if you pick wrong, expect the floor to start crumbling beneath you, or fire to rain down from the ceiling, or those reliefs on the walls to start shooting poison darts at you.
But look on the bright side: If you survive, you can always circle back and try a different route!
11. Too Many Choices
Wow, okay, so you were looking for the fabled Chalice of the Chosen One.
You made it through the gauntlet of traps, through the dangerous temple, and broke into the final vault. You finally reached the location where the thing is supposed to be--except there's a few hundred different chalices. The room is positively drowning in an assortment of chalices. Is this chalice storage?
There's a message on the wall, written in a substance that looks suspiciously like blood, that just says: "Choose wisely, drink only from the real chalice."
Well that's unhelpful.
You don't really want to drink from any of these, real chalice or not. Drinking mysterious dungeon liquid isn't really something you do, but the door behind you sealed when you walked in. It's not budging until you do something. It would probably be best to consult the person with you on a course of action, but suddenly you are just so thirsty? Weird.
Good luck.
12. Wildcard!
Do you have a specific trap you want to write about? Maybe something from your character's canon? Have at. These prompts are just suggestions. All deadly traps are equally valid.

[ She stepped on something.
That is to say, that brick sure feels much more squishy compared to the others they have been walking on, and suddenly there's quite a bit of a drift coming up her skirt and that most certainly wasn't there before, and ‒ ]
I'm falling‒
[ IT WAS A FAKE FLOOR. ]

As soon as he felt the ground give way, he had been tempted to jump. But no, this wasn't just him and a bunch of demons now. Falling as well, he held up one hand, the other grabbing the waist of the Servant.]
Extend!
[Energy poured from his free hand, as if form a staff. Both ends crashed harshly against the walls, keeping them propped up, a few meters away from the spikes below. He sighed heavily. Thank god that actually worked!]
You alright? That was way too close.

[ As for the girl knight herself, she was having quite a bit of fun. Seemingly undisturbed by their almost accident she remains relaxed in his grasp, looking into the gloom and darkness of the death chamber. ]
Mmh. I feel a breeze. I think there must be a ventilation tunnel somewhere down here?
[ Or something like it, at the very least, since for all its many spikes the telltale stench of decay was very much lacking. ]
If we could bypass some of the rooms above throw it it would be quite a lucky find!
no subject
Got any ideas for that? Kinda busy avoiding us from having a spike shoved in many places.

[ That said, with quite the bit of ease, she will hold him back to start swinging. The pendulum motion, although she lacks a proper visual, she can very well feel the place the window blows from.
And so, so long as she can reach it... Even blindly, her instincts would of course never let her down. ]
Do be prepared to let go‒ now!

[Being made thanks to Lucifer will do that. But he does trust in Saber's judgment. At the very least, he believed when it came to venturing through traps like these, she had a better idea; he likely would have blown stuff up out of frustration eventually before giving in.
At her signal, he does let go, the energy dissipating once his hand was free. Now flying through the aid, he really hoped this plan would work...]

There's nothing on sight. Only darkness and the wind.
However- ]
There!
[ Her grip tightens, Caliburn stabbing the solid rock with the sort of ease that looks at odds with its wielder's slender frame. It almost looks like she'll slip, but sure enough her feet stay safely locked into the cracks, and despite the strain that must cause her to hold unto the sort and the boy, as she looks into the dark tunnel above their heads, her smile never falters. ]
I think it's big enough for us to crawl inside. If you step on my shoulders, you should reach it comfortably enough.
no subject
You really need to help get me a weapon like yours one day...
[Yes, he was jealous. Weapons based on his ki were nice, but something like her sword would be cool too.
At her order, he tilted his head.]
Pretty sure I'd be heavier. Why don't you get on my shoulders and....and...
[His brain cells were slowly working out what he just recommended to the girl. With a skirt.]
no subject
[ Good because her brain cells are still taking a power nap. Because thinking good in a fight is important. ]
Go on! Step on confidently!
no subject
Despite the assurance, he made the climb quick, first onto her shoulders before finally in the entrance of the new path. Okay, seemed clear enough. With another sigh, he laid on the floor, offering his hand--]
Alright, coast is cle--DAMN IT!
[...unfortunately when he had laid down, his knee triggered an arrow trap from the ceiling. It didn't stop him from grabbing and pulling up Saber, but given his gritted teeth, she would see the root cause once back on solid ground: he had an arrow in his right ass cheek.]
i owe you my life
[ Swift and graceful as a flower she goes. But when she looks back‒ ]
NAOKI-KUN'S BUTT GOT HURT!?
[ SHE HAS FAILED A A SERVANT ALREADY!? ]
Why?
[Well if it had been from a demon, he'd get it. But regular arrows and even guns could somehow hurt him. Not enough to kill, as far as he was aware, but they were annoying. This though? Oh felt so much worse.
He tried to grab it at it, though found it difficult in this position. Moving would only make it sting worse, which meant he had one option.]
...Saber, please for the love of whatever God you worship, who I'm sure also hates me, remove this arrow from my ass! And then never, EVER tell another soul this happened!
for the gift of stupidity
[ She's immediately at his back, inspecting the wound. It was all due to her carelessness. She should have found the way for her to go first. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HER BUTT, AND NOT HIS. ]
I WILL FORGET ABOUT NAOKI-KUN'S BUTT INJURY AS SOON AS WE ARE DONE WITH THE MISSION!
[ Without hesitation, she rips part of the out her layer of her skirt before a dainty hand is placed to put pressure around the wound, all while the other is grabbing the offending arrow. ]
For now, please get ready. I will apply some fabric to the wound as a plug, but it will hurt, s-so... On the count of three! One! Two!
[ SHE PULLS IT RIGHT AWAY. ]
Oh np! He kinda had it coming, least in one ending
You know, if you keep touching my ass, people might get the wrong--IDEA HOLY SHIT!
[Eyes widened at the pain. He clenched his teeth and looked back at the Saber.]
WHAT HAPPENED TO THREE!?
no subject
[ DON'T LOOK SO PROUD, LILY. ]
Naoki-kun, don't worry. I'm certain such a small wound won't leave your butt disfigured. For the time being, allow me to carry you on my back to avoid further bleeding.
no subject
[Sometimes he wondered why he liked Lily. With a sigh, he rose back up, his own hand glowing to heal the wound himself.]
No no, I'm good! I don't need anymore help, because that was just a lucky--
[As he was talking, stomping his way towards Lily, he had been cut off yet again. By what? By ANOTHER arrow thanks to a switch he hit, this time hitting him from above, right onto his knee as he was walking.
...He remained silent at this bit of stupidity, suppressing a shout, and held out his hand to stop her own movement towards him.]
Don't. Say. A. Thing.
no subject
[ Merciful God in heaven. ]
I'll pull it out–
[ PLEASE DON'T KILL HER MASTER. ]
no subject
Just give me a damn minute, I'll do it on my own this time!
