Deadly Traps Meme
A Deadly Trap Disguised As A Meme
I have a bad feeling about this...

Look who just failed a perception check! That's right, it's you!
Whether you've just triggered an awful trap, wandered into a dangerous place, or picked up a cursed amulet, you're about to have a very bad time. I sure hope you brought someone to help you get out of Situations™ because you're not getting out of this on your own.
Instructions:
- Post with your character (name, fandom, preferences, feelings on assumed CR, which prompts you like)
- Other people reply to your comment with a prompt.
- One or the other of you triggers a deadly trap.
- Good Luck!
01. Whispers in the Dark
This place gives you the heebie-jeebies. Has it been getting darker and darker as you walk? Why do you feel eyes watching you from the shadows? What was that noise!? Whether you grab the wrong thing as you grope along the wall in the dark, or whether you try to light a cursed torch, all of a sudden you have an overwhelming feeling of dread. Did you just hear something? Was that sound real? Are you hallucinating? I'm not paranoid, you're paranoid!
Did you just hear your friends snickering about you? Are they planning to kill you? You should do something before it's too late!
02. Sticky Fingers
See that thing over there? Looks cool, right? You hadn't expressly planned on stealing anything, but there's no harm in picking something up to get a better look. Unfortunately, that object you just picked up is extremely cursed. The instant your hand closes around it, you can't let go. It's stuck to you no matter what you do! Then, to your horror, you realize the cursed object is deforming, growing, and it starts spreading up your arm.
03. No Entry
For some reason, the threshold ahead of you simply won't let you cross it. When you try, it's like walking into a wall. There's some invisible force preventing you and only you from moving forward. Did you piss off the Deity of Doorways? Who knows. Everyone else can saunter back and forth as they please, but not you. You could try to go backward and find a new route, but the threshold behind you seems to have fallen in line with the one ahead.
You're trapped.
04. Marked
The object in front of you seems banal enough but when you reach out and touch it, it burns the absolute shit out of your hand. You drop it immediately, of course, and while the burning has stopped, it leaves a mark seared into your skin.
And...now that mark is glowing.
You get the distinct feeling that it's not a good glowing mark. Coincidentally, you also get the feeling that something horrible is now en route to precisely your location.
05. String 'em Up
Whoever occupied this place last, they set up some really nasty surprises. And, wouldn't you know it, you just triggered one! The moment you look too closely at that mirror, in that pond, or at your reflection in the black glass walls, your vision goes hazy and you lose consciousness. Unfortunately for everyone else, your body keeps on moving, animated by an invisible force. Whatever is moving you around, it really wants to kill everyone involved in this situation, starting with your friend(s).
Let's hope they can wake you up before you do too much damage.
06. Environmental Factors
Did you just...pick that thing up?
The actual object is harmless, little more than a gaudy trinket, but the pedestal it was on is now slowly sinking into the floor. There's a distant sound of mechanical parts creaking into motion and--uh, excuse me--is the ceiling getting closer? Are the walls closing in? Are those spikes??? Were those there before????
You really should have remembered to bring something of equal weight to swap for your new treasure. Too bad you didn't, now you have to find a way out ASAP.
07. Not a Place of Honor
This structure is enormous, spooky and very, very dusty. It's like nobody has been in here for centuries! Unfortunately, not a person among you can read any of the posted warnings, but it's not like you would have listened anyway. After all, they're just signs, what are they gonna do to stop you? Nothing, that's what.
This place is too amazing to leave it unexplored. Why, there has to be loads of interesting research, shocking discoveries, or rare treasure in here! There sure are an alarming number of locks on these doors, but that just means the good stuff is up ahead! You'll be at the center soon! I sure hope it's not filled with creepy black alien eggs or extreme radiation.
08. Diamond in the Rough
For some reason you are literally the only person who can open this door. If anyone wants to get inside this place, they have to do it as your plus one. Whether you volunteered to let them in, or "volunteered" to let them in, well, you're here now.
Inside it's amazing--wonderous--unbelievable even! The whole place is full of treasures beyond your wildest dreams. Enough wealth that you could buy your own moon. But remember what the ominous warning at the door said: NO TOUCHING. If you do, the walls might start to melt, or the whole place could just sink into the ground--
Oh hey! Neat, is that a cursed book of the damned? You've always wanted one of those!
09. I'm Great At Puzzles!
So this door is kind of weird and extremely busted. It looks like you can get it open, but you'll have to fill all the conspicuously empty indentations on the door. Good thing you have all these plates with weird symbols on them! They're just lying around on the floor--well, except the one that skeleton is holding.
Never mind how this all portends. This looks easy, practically a cake-walk--you've always been good at those stupid sliding pieces games. This is nothing.
What happens if you put them in the wrong spots? Well. I wouldn't recommend doing that. This place has a distinct motif of giant snakes on just about everything. Could just be bad decor, could be that the person who built it was a reptile enthusiast, or it could be a warning--who's to say?
10. Always with the Riddles
Of course this darkened hall of nondescript doorways has an ominous riddle carved into the floor. Why wouldn't it? Why put in a map when you could put in a prophetic warning?
Now, you have a choice, you could spend the time trying to decipher what the cryptic floor message means, or you could just spin around and take a wild guess. In either case, if you pick wrong, expect the floor to start crumbling beneath you, or fire to rain down from the ceiling, or those reliefs on the walls to start shooting poison darts at you.
But look on the bright side: If you survive, you can always circle back and try a different route!
11. Too Many Choices
Wow, okay, so you were looking for the fabled Chalice of the Chosen One.
You made it through the gauntlet of traps, through the dangerous temple, and broke into the final vault. You finally reached the location where the thing is supposed to be--except there's a few hundred different chalices. The room is positively drowning in an assortment of chalices. Is this chalice storage?
There's a message on the wall, written in a substance that looks suspiciously like blood, that just says: "Choose wisely, drink only from the real chalice."
Well that's unhelpful.
You don't really want to drink from any of these, real chalice or not. Drinking mysterious dungeon liquid isn't really something you do, but the door behind you sealed when you walked in. It's not budging until you do something. It would probably be best to consult the person with you on a course of action, but suddenly you are just so thirsty? Weird.
Good luck.
12. Wildcard!
Do you have a specific trap you want to write about? Maybe something from your character's canon? Have at. These prompts are just suggestions. All deadly traps are equally valid.

2. I hope this works, I have yet to watch the show. o7
He walks back in and there's some dame arm-deep in the safe, pulling out a cannister of God-Knows-What.]
Hey-! Drop that!
[He tries to hustle through the door, to catch her arm before this all goes sideways, but, naturally, he's just after the nick of time. Ha. That cannister is older than him and in worse shape. He doesn't even want to know what the goo leaking out of it does...but it looks like they both get to find out.]
It's perfect!
So he tells her to drop it and she startles and drops it just like she’s told to. She really hopes it’s not something bad. (Oh, who is she kidding, everything up here is bad. Almost everything.)]
Okay I have now seen the show and Lucy needs Nick in her life, ngl.
Damn it all.
It's not polite to shove a lady but, in this case, he hasn't got a lot of other options. So she gets knocked to the side by a few hundred pounds of synth, then the cannister hits the floor, and while he hears it crack on impact, his shoe comes down on it before it fully ruptures.
Of course, then it bursts open and splatters him, the floor, and the legs of the table that safe was on. Whatever it is, it's both sticky and corrosive. He can already smell it eating through his shoe and pant leg.]
F-antastic--Hey, you, kid! You get any on you?

Extend!
[Energy poured from his free hand, as if form a staff. Both ends crashed harshly against the walls, keeping them propped up, a few meters away from the spikes below. He sighed heavily. Thank god that actually worked!]
You alright? That was way too close.

[ It looked at the person it was with seeming to be nonplussed about not being able to keep the human (at least they looked human so how was it to know any different) from having to do something dangerous. It could deal with traps that are all meant to be lethal to a human. Even if being crushed by the ceiling or walls it would be able to cope for the few minutes that it would take for a human to get free but never mind its own life, since Its bones were all reinforced by metal. Even when shot with toxic darts it would have a much easier time dealing with caustic chemicals. Even gunshots were so common that it literally had not counted but it was most likely in the hundreds. But a riddle that could only be solved through a very human activity? Now it was stuck.

[ Sanji wasn't expecting their little trip in search of an artifact to turn into this kind of weird mess, but he was also not not waiting for that. For as long as he's been alive, the universe has been pulling things like this on a regular basis. ]
I had my fair share of weird food and drinks, but I don't think it is wise to just go tasting water from weird fountains found in an ancient cave, tempting as it is. And that... [ He casually points to the very obviously written in blood message on the wall. ] ...doesn't fill me with reassurance either. After all the traps we already went through, I think it's safe to say whoever organized this had a lot of free time in their hands and a wicked sense of humor. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the chalices were the right ones. Maybe we should study them? Are you any good with archeology? Meanwhile I can see if I can get the door open.
[ And by that he really means literally kick the door open. Alas, it won't budge. RUDE.]

This whole place doesn't inspire much confidence. I think that since you know that something bad will definitely happen if you choose the wrong cup, the idea is to choose carefully.
[ As it said that it pointed to each of the last two words that were written on the wall. It did a quick search of what can be done for a poisoned client, but got grim results which mostly came down to being connected to a med system. Not being connected to one seriously cut the potential survivability. ]
I can at least scan the cups and see if they have intoxicants in them. But I won't be able to tell the difference between a stiff whiskey and isopropyl alcohol.
[ Which meant that it could only scan things up to a certain degree. The problem was it couldn't be certain there was not some kind of poison in the chalice. ]
