Had only stopped him to ask for directions and the next thing he knew he was stuck in a basement. It had taken him time to pick the lock of the door and when he finally managed the blond was right outside of the door.

Now he was nicely tied to a chair with duct tape to keep him in place. Curse Earth and its strong tape. Rope he could get rid off so much easier.]

[ the shed was always stifling to be in during the summer.

a wave of heat hit zenya the moment he crossed the threshold, even though the sun had already gone down for the day. by now, it was just a faint, angry red glow beneath a layer of bruised clouds, barely visible through the bare small window that was sunken into the concrete wall of the shed. the afternoon heat from the garden always got trapped through that slat, cooking the room inside. the still air was muggy and damp, it reeked of sweat and blood and all manner of unpleasant things. even the cheap plastic of the tv could be smelled, if he got close enough. ]

[ it took a while for his eyes to adjust; the only illumination in the room was the thin shaft of orange light hitting the far wall, and opposite, the red standby LED on the box television in the corner. the cicadas could still be heard when he shut the door and locked it behind him, trapping the heat back in with him — but that was all. it was silent, otherwise. zenya stood at the door for just a moment, yanking the key back out of the lock and turning slowly to look at the pale shape across the floor. his smile was weathered from the long day, but the sight filled him with a giddy, child-like enthusiasm. this was what he always looked forward to. this was what he was alive for. ]
