SHAME YOUR CHARACTER! the meme 


 

Familiar with the concept of 'pet shaming'? Basically, your pet does something bad, you give them a sign, and take a picture so the whole world knows their sins. Google has many examples. Now. We do this for our characters.

○ Post with your character! Name and Canon in the header.

○ DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COMMENT BLANK. BLANK COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED.

○ A magical invisible fairy has placed a shame sign on your character of whatever terrible (or terribly embarrassing) thing your character is guilty of. Write what this sign says in the comment section.

○ Tag out! Make a new friend! And by make a new friend I mean make fun of them!

How violent, exactly?

[Paul is shaking his head.]

It hasn’t happened yet, and I don’t want it to, but I see the deaths of millions, if not billions, of people.

Fate is not my friend.

Fate isn't anyone's, really.

How clearly do you see it?

[desertpowered]

I only see snatches. Partial images. I can’t decide what I see and when.

It’s…one of the reasons why I stay with you. If I stay away from my home, it may not happen.

[There's an impulse to touch, but Loki isn't exactly competent at comforting. It turns into a light brush at some lint that isn't actually on Paul's sleeve.]

Did I ever tell you? About what my father saw for me?

[desertpowered]

No, you never have. I assume it isn’t a good thing.

[A weak smile. Paul appreciates the gesture.]

Maybe we can help each other construct a better fate. It’s worth a try, and perhaps…if we cooperate, we will stand a better chance than we would alone.

Quite bad, yes.

[Although probably not so bad as millions or billions.]

You think that could work?

[desertpowered]

That makes two of us, then. I don’t want to be a monster.

[Loki has Paul’s sympathy. He offers a hand.]

It’s worth trying. Besides, I like being with you.

[There's the briefest hesitation--not for lack of affection for or trust in Paul, both of which remain shockingly easy. It's simply still strange to be reached for this way.

A few thoughtful heartbeat, and Loki reaches to carefully twine his fingers with Paul's.]

It gets very lonely, doesn't it? Sitting under a bad fate.

And this time the smile becomes a broad grin as Paul accepts the twined fingers. He likes the way Loki approaches things.

And it gives him what could be hope.]

If we’re working together, neither one of us will be facing those futures alone.

[annarr]

I suppose I wouldn't mind that.

[It's even entirely possible he might like that. There's a stability to the odd ways they do and don't mirror one another; like pieces that slot nicely into complementary spaces.]

Don't tell.

I wouldn’t mind it either. My visions don’t happen outside of my original world.

[It makes the idea of confronting a dark and uncertain future less intimidating, together with some knowledge that they’ll be able to help each other. It’s better to stand together than alone.]

I won’t tell, I promise.

[Some of what's to come, Loki suspects, would be easier alone. In the moment, idly swinging his hand to test the sensation of Paul's fingers with his own, it certainly feels easier to be together.]

Is it exhausting? Seeing futures?

[desertpowered]

Yes. Especially when it isn’t what I want to see.

[Paul figures he’ll face what’s in the future alone, too, or at least feeling alone. But he feels safer with Loki right now.]

I don’t know what causes it, or where it came from.

[annarr]

Is it ever something nice?

[He'd put good money on mostly the bad bits coming through. That's how it tended to work with his father, after all.]

Very rarely. But it’s not nearly enough.

[But he has to admit the girl in his dreams captures some of his attention, and is a good distraction from war and death.]

[annarr]

[Loki's breath comes in a thoughtful little hum, hands swinging without much force.]

Do you ever-- will things into being?

[desertpowered]

I don't think so. What I see doesn't always come true.

[But it's also true that Paul doesn't understand his own powers or how thy work.
