I made the mistake of letting the Grimoire of Four Imposters get too close to other books on my bookshelf, so I ended up having to burn them, too. And The Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand started oozing as it went up. Like it wasn't the words, but the ink itself that was trying to resist the flame and escape.
A 1949 first edition of And Both Were Young by Madeline L'Engle. Honestly, I prefer the 1983 version of the story, but some hold the original as precious.
