[Can either be the stray or the one taking one in, though his ability to take care of someone might be questionable?]
[All my knowledge of Fate/ comes secondhand but I can imagine a combination of Bad Guest/Stubborn with Theseus patronizing an artist. Could do a roughly appropriate historical period AU or Fate-ish mashup?]
[Come on, help this big guy find a forever home. He does have a bite record, but with some training he'll come around!]
'Scenic Pass' was barely a town. A valley nestled between easily snowed over mountain passes along the Cascade range, not high enough in elevation to need to double check your cooking instructions but high enough that driving to it made your ears pop. The majority of the town was the several mile stretch that went close to the closest road that eventually connected to the freeway out and away, surrounded by unincorporated county land that was dotted with farmhouses that had mostly the same families in them for as long as anyone could remember, with those kept in the protective shelter of the surrounding mountain range and miles and miles of evergreens.
It wasn't a food desert, but it was difficult enough to get anywhere useful from there that it meant even the eccentric rich people who wanted to play at rural lifestyle found it unappealing. It meant that the decades passed largely unchanged in the Pass. Sure babies were born, some people got lucky and got out, every now and again someone died, but it wasn't the kind of place anyone willingly moved to.
So of course it was the third time someone had come into the library to tell Wren-
"Did you hear the old Fields house got bought?"
"I did, Mrs Benson," Wren replied without looking up from their work - digitizing the ancient card catalog at the library. It was slow going, with them being the only employee, even with their selection being 'appropriately sized' for the population size it serviced. It was also the only reliable location for internet in the whole Pass. Wren had shelled out for it at their trailer but they knew they were in the minority. "You sure it wasn't that they just found some distant cousin?"
"No, absolutely not, they all moved out East. Well, after Margaret went off to college and got married to that architect-"
The next thirty minutes were spent with Mrs Benson going over the history of the Fields family and the last three generations of it, who moved away when, until it was just the aging old Mr Fields in the house after his wife died until he passed away too. The farmhouse sat empty for a good decade after that, children unable to sell but not willing to move back.
"-- The point is he's come into the market about three times now, once a week, like clockwork. I don't know if anyone's even gotten a name."
"If he paid with a card they probably have it at the store," Wren pointed out.
Mrs Benson gasped.
"You're a genius, I should ask Louisa," she declared. Louisa being one of the regular checkers of the one grocery store. That had Wren's head going up.
"Wait- that wasn't a suggestion-"
But Mrs Benson was already saying her goodbyes and going out the door in a whirlwind.
Wren hoped they hadn't just caused problems for someone.

Used 9 as a premise and it ran away from me. Let me know if I need to change anything
[ She adopted three of these ugly motherfuckers, she's taking you in, too. You're loved. You belong. You have no choice ]
( he used to constantly run away from home as a child, so he could've managed to run away from the palace as well. alternatively, he wouldn't really lack the means to take in a stray and with his eventless life, he would be extra fascinated with them. in his canon setting he's an emperor (more info in his journal!), but he can be slipped into other canons as someone in a position of power, like a ceo, who's actually manipulated by others. )
[Oh, you think you've found an injured rabbit and taken him in. Little do you know he's a changeling wearing a rabbit form while trying to escape trouble...]
[Oh, she's definitely the stray here. Will opt out of Bad Guest, Stelle's got some pretty decent manners.]
( a younger version of him could be the stray, or an au where he hasn't become the duke after his jail time. right because of his background, he would be very soft towards a stray themselves and take them in in a heartbeat. )
[His job might as well be to take strays in at this point]
[Either still working aboard ships with no permanent home, or settled in a comfortable home]
Nami | One Piece (Netflix knowledge only) | Voicetesting
[She’s probably the stray.]
Sherlock Holmes | Moriarty the Patriot/Yuukoku no Moriarty | ota / MtP cast
[Definitely the stray in this situation!
Serious shipping only with Liam, sorry]

[She's not the stray.]
[More likely to be the stray.]

[It was a spot of bad luck that had led Bennett to finding Aether where he did, but truly fortune had smiled on them both in the end by putting them in the same spot. Bennett found Aether alone, unconscious, and injured in the depths of the mountains, and Paimon was nowhere to be seen. Did they get separated, or...? ...No, he didn't want to think about what the alternatives could have been.
It was going to be some time before Bennett was going to be able to get Aether back to Mondstadt for a proper check up. He was beaten pretty badly, definitely in no condition to walk, and Bennett hadn't even managed to determine where exactly they were. Was this even in Mondstadt? He hadn't managed to see the city from the mountain's peak, at least... Plus, even though Bennett managed to get Aether pretty decently patched up--thank goodness for all those bandages Barbara forced him to take--he'd yet to actually awaken from his unconscious state.
Until he woke up, they weren't really going anywhere. He had enough supplies to put together a makeshift camp for them, at least. So they were safe as long as the weather stayed passable.
...He hoped thinking that didn't suddenly invite the weather to change, knowing his luck.]
