hurt / comfort

Hurt/comfort is a fan fiction genre that involves the physical pain or emotional distress of one character, who is cared for by another character. The injury, sickness or other kind of hurt allows an exploration of the characters and their relationship.

- Post with Character Name | Series in the subject.
- Others respond.
- Roll 1-10 at RNG for a scene, play it out and have fun!

21. SECRET. It's difficult having to keep that secret of yours, be it a relationship or something you just don't want to share with anybody else. Maybe it's okay to talk about it now though...

Clint likewise checks his own pockets but doesn't stop there. He checks his boot to see if his knife is still there. It is.

Other items include a full ammo clip with no gun. Half a power bar which has started to melt. Oh and a standard military issue bandanna.

"Yeah. C'mon," Clint says, just picking a direction and starting off that way.

Bruce follows behind Clint through the sand. There was no telling how long they had been out, he already felt overheated. At least he was still sweating, if that stopped then he'd definitely be in danger of heatstroke.

"Not even a footprint..." he commented as they kept going. They must have either covered their tracks or the wind and shifting sands took care of that.

"There wouldn't be," Clint grumbles. He's been out on a few too many desert ops for his liking. "Look for scrub brush, even if they look dead, we find the right ones they sometimes store water in their roots. Keep any eye out for dry riverbeds too," he tells him.

Yeah, he might have been stranded out in the desert once before. Doesn't mean he likes it. Certainly doesn't like it after getting the crap beat out of him. It's not quite a limp but he's favoring one leg over the other.

Bruce nods, he'll keep an eye out. Speaking of looking, he can see you favoring that leg, Clint. "Your leg alright?" What he wouldn't give for just a stick for a splint.

...were those buzzards circling already?

"Could be worse," Clint answers, which means, no, it's not alright. He'd be more interested in having a bow and some decent arrows because if those are buzzards, they can be dinner.

He does see something faintly hopeful, a rock formations which can mean shade. "Got something," he announces.

They couldn't be that lucky. Bruce feels like he's dragging already in the hot sun. He squints at the rock formations. Hey, anything was better than sand. "I see it too." Better that they both saw the same thing, the last thing they needed was to start seeing mirages.

It was going to be a long time before that sun even got close to setting too.

The rock formations are high enough to offer shade, if nothing else. Something else Clint is hoping to see when they near it is natural basins in the rock, there's always a slim chance water will gather in them.

"Can you tell which way the sun is going?" he asks. He'd rather they set up on the side with growing shadow rather than retreating.

Phew, that's a relief. Bruce wipes his brow again with his handkerchief, trying to squint up at the sun. "I'm...not sure. Hang on."

He picks up a dry stick, putting it in the sand on the line between shadow and light. In a minute, the shadow has receded back from the stick. "That way."

Man, is it hot. Has he mentioned that?

Clint raises a brow in approval at how he figured that out. Science guys can be useful when they're not giant green rage monsters.

"We should wait until sunset before we try to find water or... move," he says as he heads up to the shaded side of the formations, looking for a good spot. Maybe even a spot with a plant.

"I'm for that." Bruce follows behind, plopping down in the sand on the shady side. At least that's some relief. It was probably over 100 degrees in the sun, less in the shade. Now that he can be out of the sun slightly, Bruce takes off his top shirt, leaving just the thin undershirt on.

"Too bad we don't have a sundial." It would be nice to know how long till sundown. Those buzzards overhead weren't any help either.
