the blue soup didn't smell of anything but the texture was like really thick and gloopy. i'd eat it again but it wouldn't be top of the list of things i want to eat.

There's a lot to say about the Marines, good and bad. If your friend believes he can make them better, then that's also an admirable goal. A pretty difficult one as well.
