Pick a point in your character's timeline.  What choice did they make? What choice did others make that would have changed their world?  Decide that choice, change it and go from there.  Tag others to join in on the fun.  The darker the new timeline, the better!

[Joan leaves Sherlock as scheduled after his encounter with Moran]
[She turns Sherlock down when he offers her a partnership.]
[She leaves Sherlock to be a sober companion to Gregson's friend's daughter.]
[Sherlock leaves with Irene before he's able to discover her secret.]
[Moriarty kidnaps and tortures Joan.]

[We can give it a shot! Maybe Kit's already been released? The last two would probably work out best. Either Joan has to solve the Moriarty puzzle by herself and Kit helps her/supports her, or she's kidnapped and tortured and Kit helps Sherlock and is the one to find her?]

[Truth. Darkest timeline and all. Did you want to set it up?]

One question! Have you been spoiled as to the identity of Moriarty?

[The warehouse is cold, and dark, but Joan is beyond able to recognize either things, beyond able to perceive anything but pain.

She's been in Moriarty's clutches for three days now. She had expected to be questioned, to have to do her equivalent of giving name and rank and nothing more. But the men never ask her anything. They just hurt her. Over and over.

They're not here now, and that's its own torture. She knows they'll be back, even if she doesn't know when. It could be hours from now, it could be the next second. She had no way of predicting, much less of controlling.

She's duct taped to a chair, her wrists bound behind her, her ankles bound to the chair legs, strips wound around her chest. She sags against her bonds, head bowed. She can feel blood trickling down the side of her face. The last beating must have opened a cut in her forehead. Her nose is bloodied too, and as her mouth is also taped, she snuffles through it, barely able to breathe.

They don't want her for answers. And she strongly suspects they don't want her for ransom. They want her pain. Moriarty wants to see her suffer, and will kill her when she's feeling merciful.

At this point, she's hoping for the mercy.]

It was actually the first episode I watched in full, and then I started from the beginning!

[Kit Walker was pretty worried. He'd been out for a while, and he hadn't heard from Joan. Not for a few days. He hadn't been that worried at first, but 2 days passed. Then a third. He knew she'd been working on a case, but...well. They talked. A lot.

So. On the third day, the third evening really, he called Holmes.]

It's an awesome episode :)

[Sherlock is impatient and rude to Kit, which can perhaps be forgiven, considering he's been driven half-mad with fear for Joan, anger at the Woman who he knows took her, and guilt for the situation.

"She'd never just leave, so clearly she's been kidnapped. Now, if you will excuse me, I'm quite busy trying to save her life."]

[Perhaps a testament to Kit's empathy, that he's fairly calm in dealing with the other man.]

What can I do?

[There's an exasperated sigh on the other end of the line, and Kit can practically hear Sherlock scrubbing his eyes with one hand.

"Look...if you must, you can help look into locations where she might be held. I've been able to narrow the search area somewhat, but there's still hundreds of abandoned buildings, shipping containers, basements, what have you. Another pair of feet might find her faster."]

I can do that. No worries. Just give me the addresses.

[He'll even bring his rifle.]

[Sherlock gives him a list of twenty, all sorts of places, one of which is an abandoned warehouse down by the river.]

[denokandafaran]

[That's the second place he goes, in all honesty. It's close by, and it's well. A warehouse. It's very cliche, and yet there's a reason for that. So he goes there second, parks where he can't be seen and carefully navigates around the warehouse.]

[There's also the suspicious fact that it's being guarded. The man standing outside the main entrance might be trying to look nonchalant, smoking casually, but of course there's no reason for him to be there in the first place.]

[Abandoned warehouses don't generally need to be guarded, do they? Not in Kit's opinion or experience. So. Getting the guard away from the door. He could shoot the guy, but he's pretty sure he'd get shot back in the process.

So he tries for a distraction. Aiming his shotgun at what he assumes is the other man's vehicle, and shooting it. Seeing if the alarm goes off.

It does.]

[The man jerks at the gunshot, pulls his own gun and heads toward his car, scanning the area for where that shot came from. He has to stop the alarm, though, because it will draw attention to their location, so he soon turns his attention fully to that.

Inside the warehouse, the sound of the car alarm teases into Joan's consciousness, and the cogs of her weary and bruised brain start to turn sluggishly. Something's going on.]

[Once the other man is at the car and distracted, Kit aims again. For the man's leg, and he fires.]

[The man goes down with a yell, dropping his gun as he grabs at his leg.

Joan hears the gunshot, and lifts her head. Is it the police? Have the men turned on each other? Dare she hope?]

[Kit can't imagine there aren't others in the building, but they've probably been alerted by the gunshots. He makes his way, quickly, towards the building.]

[Joan doubts it too, and listens carefully, hearing people running, hissing orders to each other, reporting what's going on, probably on a cell phone, probably to Moriarty herself. Not internal strife, then. She also doesn't hear anyone shouting "POLICE!" so it can't be SWAT. What the hell is going on?]

[Kit also kind of doubts that 'his' aliens would let him get killed here, so he's not too worried about that. Well. Much. But he is worried about getting to Joan. More shooting at people than he'd care for. He aims for limbs instead of killshots.

Like he's said a lot. He's not a killer.]

[formersurgeon]

[It's his lack of self-preservation and their surprise that lets him get through the four men he encounters immediately inside the building. They're clearly trying to keep him from one particular door, the one that leads to the main room of the warehouse.]

[denokandafaran]

[Which is, of course, exactly where he wants to go now. How long does it take to get past them, either by wounding them or otherwise distracting them? Too long, for his taste.]

[It seems like forever to Joan, too. She doesn't know what's happening, doesn't know if whoever this is is trying to rescue her or is just taking down Moriarty's people.]
