THE (midsummer) FIGHT MEME



What else needs to be said? Release your inner warrior and partake in some epic (or hilariously bad) battles! Do you use a sword? Are you a martial arts master? Are you a wizard? Can you even fight?

It doesn't matter if you're just having a friendly spar or deciding the fate of the universe. You're suddenly filled with the urge to fight the next person you meet. Cut loose and show off your skills!

Cassie stands in the center of the mat with her training dao drawn. She nods and smiles as her partner approaches.

"You're a little early. Good."

Paul nods in respect when he sees Cassie, his own sword at his side. He knows training, but this is a new opponent.

"So...what are the sparring rules?"

[nutkrusher]

Cassie twirls her sword and holds it in a poised position.

"No blows to the head or groin. Otherwise, hit me where you can...if you can."

Paul draws his own sword and takes a fighting stance, his body loosening so he can move at an instant's notice.

"I agree to those rules. The same to you - hit me if you can."

Cassie takes a moment to lift her sword and bow. But once they're both ready she starts in a hurry.

Her body surges forward as though she's been fired out of a cannon. She's literally glowing, with streaks of green light trailing behind her.

Cassie intends for the dazzling display to distract him from her true intentions - it is, in fact, a feint. Will Paul recognize it?

Paul is swift on his feet as well. He won't break out his more specialized training just yet, because he's still assessing Cassie and would prefer to fight fair.

Then she breaks out the green light, and Paul is startled. He's never seen anything like that.

His reaction is quick - he drops and rolls to the right, getting back to his feet with his sword in hand.

Cassie'd been counting on him moving back. She darts forward, fully intending to keep up the pressure and stay within his guard.

Paul regains his grit, drawing in a little closer and jabbing with his sword. He's testing her, seeing what else she can do.

He's still on the back foot somewhat, but he's recovered well. Time for her to test something else: how prepared he is for attacks that don't come from the sword itself.

Her footwork is just slow enough to creep past the shield, accelerating to sweep at his shin.

Paul is surprised that she figured out a way to counteract his defenses so quickly, but he isn't displeased. There's a quick expression of respect.

He manages to dodge the sweep, but it's close enough that she's making him sweat.

One thing should be abundantly clear to Paul already: Cassie is an aggressive fighter. She prefers to initiate, to make the opponent react. If he wants to turn the tables, he'll need to interrupt her action and force her into reaction.

For now, though, Cassie means to reduce the amount of space he has to work with. She's backing him closer and closer to the edge.

[Cool! Let me just write up a quick starter, then, and ...]

Yamato's getting pretty good at ignoring the bright lights and screaming crowds at these fights by now.

He's ignoring most everything, to be honest. Barefoot and barechested, dressed in just a pair of blue MMA gloves and blue-and-white compression shorts, as the referee calls him and his opponent, Paul, to the centre of the cage to rattle off the rules, he's focusing exclusively on Paul.

"Don't expect me to go easy on you," he says, unsmiling but still amicably enough, bumping his gloves against Paul's.

Then he's backing off to his side of the cage, raising his fists, waiting. He barely hears it when the bell rings to signal them to start, moving carefully forward step by step, circling.

Paul Atreides is a dangerous fighter despite his small size for his age. What he lacks in muscle he makes up for in agility.

He's wearing a uniform, carefully examining his opponent and sizing him up. Paul is a cautious fighter, quiet and calculating. But he's also polite and honorable, nodding in respect to greet Yamato. This is going to be a good fight, and he owes his opponent a good challenge. That means not going easy on him.

"I won't. I promise you the same," he says as he repeats the gesture.

Paul does the same when the bell rings, circling, watching his opponent cautiously but with a body tensed to pounce at a moment's notice.

Yamato cracks a brief grin at Paul's response. It's good, after all: They can dispense with meaningless trash talk and just face each other as equals.

He keeps circling for a few moments, occasionally jerking forward just a little as if he's going to attack, testing Paul's reactions. When he actually moves in for real, he closes the distance fast, moving just barely into range and snapping his hand out in three quick jabs at Paul's jaw.

Paul prefers to handle this as business - not to say that he won't be happy to make friends once the fight is over. But for the time being he'll act as requested and provide a difficult fight.

In turn Paul weaves, keeping an eye on Yamato while keeping a distance he's gauged to be safe. He's able to dodge the jabs, though it's closer than he would have liked, so he darts back to give himself a safer distance and to try and lure his opponent into approaching him. Paul doesn't want to use too much energy at once. He needs to maintain his stamina over the course of the fight.

Yamato follows, stepping in after Paul but still staying at the very edge of his range, probing at his defences with a quick pair of jabs, right and left.

He's being cautious for now, keeping Paul at arms length, focusing on jabs instead of closing the distance further or committing to any big swings.

Paul is mindful of the probing, lashing out with a quick jab as a reminder that he's aware and watching. He won't let his guard down, and from his perspective it's a waiting game.

Sooner or later one of them will make a move. Paul is waiting for the right moment to lash out and attack - though if Yamato doesn't Paul won't wait indefinitely.

Yamato leans away from that jab, letting it hit empty air.

A half second later, he makes his move, stepping in and swinging a right hook at Paul's jaw.

Paul allows himself to bend, dodging the blow, but again it's closer than expected.

Yamato's a good fighter, keeping Paul on his toes. He retaliates, cautious but fiercer, lashing out with a quick punch.

Yamato just barely dodges out of the way, the punch nearly grazing the side of his face.

He doesn't back off, though, swinging a left hook at Paul's jaw, then moving into a kick, snapping his leg up towards Paul's side.

Paul is impressed, and Yamato will see a quick smile before he dodges the punch. Time to put some pressure on in return.

The kick brushes Paul's leg, and he reacts by swiftly moving a couple of feet back to make himself harder to reach. Then he lashes with a kick of his own, aimed for the side.

Yamato can't move out of the way in time, and the kick slams against his side, making him bend around it with a grimace.

He doesn't back off yet, closing the distance again and aiming a knee up at Paul's abdomen.

Once he connects, Paul doubles down to go in for a closer strike, gritting his teeth as he attacks with a punch.

Though he manages to dodge the worst of the blow, the knee just hits him - a mistake he made, clearly. He stays standing but he's a little winded.

Yamato takes the punch with a grunt, backing off a step to try to get to the edge of his range again.

He throws another pair of jabs again, trying to wear down Paul's defences from afar.

Paul is mindful of the need to check his defenses, nimbly sidestepping to make himself harder to hit.

But he'll have to wear down his opponent's defenses as well, so he feigns a strike and then lunges with a kick.

Yamato falls for that feint, taking the kick hard and stumbling backwards with another grunt of pain, momentarily winded.

Paul pounces immediately, lunging with several jabs to the chest when his opponent stumbles, aiming to keep him on the ground.

Yamato's back hits the ground as he falls, sprawling stunned for a second before he lifts his legs to try to kick out at Paul, trying to at least push him away.

Paul tries to avoid the kick, coming in a little closer. He tries to brush off the couple that do make contact - if he holds down Yamato for long enough, he'll win.

Yamato kicks up hard at Paul's stomach, then moves to slide backwards and try to spring to his feet, aiming to get himself standing as soon as possible.

Paul is startled by the kick and manages to dart away, at the cost of letting Yamato make his slide. He wipes sweat from his forehead as he goes in to try and knock him down again with a kick of his own.

Yamato just barely manages to move out of the way of that kick, stepping backwards, before moving back in, aiming a right hook at Paul's jaw.

I like fight scenes as a way to build CR and be the instigator of emotions. It's the shounen way. I'd especially love a team up against some kind of boss NPC or a fight between people sympathetic to each other (Kafka would be especially understanding to people forced into circumstances beyond their control like him).

[ AI boss with a disgusting complex array of emotions? Reasons for fighting and needing to be stopped can be quite long and many. You could take your pick, though, she always effortlessly has reasons around wanting to keep someone who she loves out of danger - and only in her own hands of danger. ]

Sounds wonderful! Thanks for being patient, I've been trying to digest the FGO wiki to get some ideas, and I'm still a bit lost. So forgive me if any of these ideas don't make sense, but I like to throw out some options-

Maybe something like BB is protecting her loved one in a destructive way but actually they're gonezo for real and she refuses to accept it, and the emotional side is based on that?

Alternatively, Kafka as a beloved one who wants OUT LEAVE HIM ALONE. Or possibly he's gone full monster and she's the one trying to protect him by stopping him?

Happy to start, I've just got a bit of a spinning head with all the lore.

[ Oh gosh I would not have put that on anyone - a curse to try to consume one of the most complicated characters in FATE ON ANYONE who isn't a fan.

I like the second idea, BB is kind of an AI that seems to be.... Not necessarily fleeting in how her love is for someone. Its just that ultimately due to her syntax, if there is no direction for her love to form onto - especially if a copy of her is made. They will always kind of just pick someone to be that 'new lover.' So you can have a more or less yandere esque sort of ai who believes in protecting you - and being an over bearing helicopter care taker over you.

There are some things I can do to pick our story/etc. Though in terms of her having fighting prowess, I personally can just bend the laws of type moon because nasu does it all the time. For the sake of fun roleplay. Or I can just make an au similarly for your canon!

Was there a particular theme in fighting you wanted to engage with when it came to feelings in particular? I apologize if it took a bit for me to reply! ]

[ Okay, so, I have a real weakness for yanderes and they guys who still want them to be happy so I am absolutely down to the max with this scenario.

OKAY! My idea is this. Kafka is a protag sort, in this made up scenario BB/copy BB has been made specifically to capture him which comes out as yandere possessiveness. Must have him. I say, step 1- a short scene, like 5 tags tops, of them working together to defeat some other thing as allies (BB infiltrating Team Good Guy, maybe), so Kafka can have full emotions about trying to 'save' a 'friend' in step 2- a big fight attempt to lock him up forever so he can be under her protection. That's my needlessly elaborate pitch! As for what the actual abilities/scale are, I say we just wing it and do whatever is cool.

[ I recently went over more so her fgo abilities for an app here. A good thing to know is she really has no power unless you are in the moon cell or in HER plane of existence.

Ill just wing it that BB has a cool ability that once you are in her dimension she becomes dumb god mode. So the important thing is NEVER TO TRUST HER AND GO IN!! Well say unfortunately Kafka trusted her an went in - and thus... Yandere begins. I am up for it! If I AM SLOW at any time its bc I am playing BG3 but I will always tag back for the most part! ]
