Her weight shifted on her feet, feeling a bit odd that she's in sneakers and doesn't hear the click of heels on the street. She had been working out though, so she doesn't have her clothing to add on top of her attitude.

Still, she stayed put and closed the clear lid that snapped shut on her half-eaten piece of cake.

"I'm not making this easy. What is 'this' that you want to be easy?"

"You. Me. Talking. Stuff." He was so very eloquent when he was trying to get his point across. He let out a frustrated groan, hands scrubbing his face before he splayed them out again. "I want you to want to hang out with me. Not just because you're being told to come get me or we're stuck somewhere."

"I thought we already had that and then you decided to pick another fight about my training - which weren't not talking about again."

[teenyoda]

He opened his mouth, then closed it. She might be right there, but his testosterone wanted to argue it. "Which is why I'm trying again." Because persistence was his middle name.

Or possibly his first.

She shrugged, "Do you want some cake?"

"Huh? Oh, no. No I'm fine, thanks. But I would like to give you a ride home, if you can stand being in a small enclosed space with me."

"I can stand being in an enclosed space with you."

She smirked at him, gesturing with her cake container in her hand, "Are you gonna open the door for me, too?"

[teenyoda]

"What? Oh, yeah." He smiled, going over to the jeep and holding open the passenger door for her. So he'd gotten her to agree to a ride home. It was a start.

Erica got into the car and set the rest of her cake on her lap. She could've walked home and the thought of him driving slowly alongside her to try and convince her into the car was amusing, but this was just easier. She didn't want to give him a stroke or something.

How kind of her. He'd be sure to send her a thank you card for not killing him. He ran around the front and got in on his side, starting the jeep back up and grinning over at her. "Okay, so, uh, where am I going?"

No, Erica, he hadn't gotten to the point where he'd stalked down your address yet.

She points ahead, "Just keep going here. Second light turn left." She'd guide him the rest of the way too, all the way to the modest split level that her parents owned. They didn't mind her being out late anymore, mostly because she had them convinced that she was still on her meds and that she was doing much better in school. They figured the risks were worth the rewards.

He took her directions, committing them to memory so he'd know where to go if he ever needed to get her. For some reason. Maybe. Or maybe to leave something. Who knows? He parked in front of her house and looked over at it before turning back to her. "Not bad. So..."

"Is this more talking?" Erica asked, glancing to him.

[teenyoda]

"Um, maybe?" He gave her a look, half shrugging. "Do you want to talk?"

"About what?" She was almost afraid that he'd start up and then it would go right back into his issues with Derek.

[teenyoda]

"Maybe... getting together again. Maybe to a movie?" He looked down at his hand as he fidgeted with his pants on one leg.

She knew not to tell him not to talk about Derek.

"I can't even think of what's out right now," Erica replied. She hadn't looked at the current releases in a few months.

[teenyoda]

"We can pick something when we get there. There has to be something that you'd want to watch." And if not, then maybe they'd find something else to do. Something that involved him hanging around her.

She thought about it for a bit, before glancing to him, "When would you want to do this?"

Was that a yes? "Uh... when's good for you?" Because hey, he wasn't going to screw it up by picking the wrong day.

She had to think about that. A hand moved up to rub at her jaw, then against the side of her face as she thought it over.

"Tuesday," she figured that was when Boyd had off from work, so he could make sure Derek had someone to run the course.

"Tuesday's good. I can do Tuesday. You want me to pick you up?" He had from now until Tuesday to figure out what to wear and if that even mattered.

She thought it over and then nodded, "Yeah, you can pick me up."

Erica tried to think of a time, but she realized it'd depend on if they went to see a movie or not. "If you figure out when you want to come over, just let me know."

[teenyoda]

"Great!" No, he wasn't being a bit over enthusiastic about this. Not at all. "I'll text you and come pick you up in enough time that we can go see what's showing first, okay?"

"Yeah, it's okay," she replied easily. She moved to unbuckle her seat belt.

"So, Tuesday, then."
