[And Dick paying was the only reason Jason was still there. Could he take the bullet out of his knee himself? Sure. Could he sew himself back up? Of course, that was Bat-training 101. Could he x-ray himself to see if the bullet had damaged his ACL? Probably not.

As soon as those test results came back, however, he was gone.

[ At least no-one really questioned a gunshot wound here. It's was Gotham. His hand reached over to gently squeeze his brothers hand even as he rolled his eyes at his words.]

[Hand-holding? There was hand-holding now? Jason's fingers twitched in Dicks and he had to ride curb on the desire to yank his hand away. His knee was killing him (he'd refused the morphine, of course), his adrenaline was still running from the fight and the shooting itself, and the thick, cloying stink of the hospital were combining to make him irritable and jumpy.

Glaring at the older man, he trapped his fingers under his thighs to keep himself from hurting the doctor when the man came in to poke and prod and squeeze at his knee. Oh, but it was close. So, so very close...]

[ It was never easy. Dick barely knows why he still sleeps with the other man sometimes. It was like a consent uphill battle with Jason at every turn.
