[ God, Joe is trying so hard not to laugh, and he's only barely managing it. But also? Not moving; just standing his ground, arms crossed and mouth twitching against a smile. ]

Well, if I was your owner, I'd keep trying to find ways to entice you. But since I'm not your owner, I don't see any reason to do that. So, I guess I won't be doing anything.

[Hiyori's dog—his real dog, not the underclassman he jokingly refers to as his dog—was trembling in fear the day he picked her up. She'd been in a weak, frail state, and her fur was matted with blood. She spent the whole night yelping after he brought her to the dorms.

But that was quite a while time ago. Now, she sleeps easily, willingly accepting all his smothering affection.]

[Hiyori just. Continues to blink for a moment, before breaking into a frown. One that's half reproachful, half bemused.]

[Said with a short sigh. For the first time in human history, it seems he's met his match where shamelessness is concerned.]

Acting violent towards you here will only cause problems. Actually, that sounds barbaric no matter where it happens. Only someone cruel would discipline a dog in a such a fashion. A more reasonable punishment for you would be...

[He strokes his chin.

And then has to think for a long time, because he never actually disciplines his dog even when she misbehaves. He's more of a "spoil 'em rotten" type of dog owner.]

[ Shamelessness isn't the entirety of the equation anymore. Because sure, there isn't much that Kojiro finds to be beneath him. But Hiyori is prodding almost expertly at that antagonistic side of Kojiro that he just cannot help indulging when it starts to flare up. ]

[ But maybe that's not the right question. Maybe a better question is: How does one bring a man the size of Kojiro to his knees? ]

[His eyes flare as though taken aback—not by the refusal to cooperate, but by the nickname. Another person who looks at him and sees nothing but a spoiled princess?
