They seemed much more willing to drop by before the curse broke. I wonder sometimes if knowing who I am makes them skittish.

I don't think it's that. I think it's just that they're stubborn fools.

Do you know what day it is, Ruby?

[She starts to say no, but then pauses as it finally hits her. She smiles]

Yes, yes, I believe I do.

[jolting]

I know it seems strange to celebrate a moment like that, but it was important to me. I've always... had a thing for you, Ruby. I was just a lot worse at showing it during the curse.

[A light blush appears on her cheeks as she listens to him, a small smile on her lips]

It was kinda hard not to notice the way that you stared during the curse. You were a lot politer than the most of the guys who came through, though. At least you actually called me by my name.

[She leans into him slightly]

That night was important to me, too. I've never really opened up like that to anyone before. Not even Snow.

[jolting]

I feel I should apologize for that. It was uncouth of me to be so fixated with your ass.

[he pauses, putting an arm around her]

I never opened up to anyone like that, either.

[She can't resist a giggle at that. The way he said that amused her]

It felt nice to actually open up to someone for once. To talk to someone and actually have them listen.

When you saved Mendel, I felt so proud of you. I actually almost hugged you, but I was scared of frightening you away.

[jolting]

Just having your hand on my arm had me on cloud nine. If you hugged me.... I wouldn't know what to do. Probably for the best you didn't.

It's new for me, but wonderful.

It's a great feeling. I never realized how alone I was until that night.
