You enter the elevator with only one other person on it. Twenty seconds into the ride and it stops. The power is stuck. The doors won't open, you're between floors, and no one is answering your calls. Who knows how long you could be stuck here with this person?

[ Joel, likewise transparent with frustration after having thrown a startled look up and around the elevator cabin, is now at the elevator doors. Fingers biting into the slit where the doors are shut tight together, teeth gritted, arms and shoulders straining, he grunts with effort while trying to pry the doors apart. He tries harder for good measure, exerting a louder forceful grunt but no dice. The doors won't budge. He reluctantly drops his hands away. ]

Sadly, pressing the emergency button did nothing. Prying the doors open wouldn't do much good either since the elevator was trapped between floors. Jury's out on whether this was the best time to be stuck in an elevator or the worst time given the latest security breach. No one knew about Dr. Henry Wu's secret science experiment until it broke out of its containment zone and escaped somewhere into the massive facility where it remained on the loose.

Somehow within the past 8 hours, the 1.1 ton horror had managed to get around the place unseen and undetected. There were reports among staff of soft tapping sounds and strange whispers without a source but the only sure signs of its presence were several missing staff members and some discarded limbs turning up here and there. It was like the thing was stalking them, taunting them from the shadows while it waited to pick them off one by one.

As Muldoon waited in silence for rescue, things started to get interesting. There came a low metallic rumble from somewhere in the elevator shaft and the box itself shook gently for a moment as if it was getting ready to move. But there was no up or down movement of the box. Perhaps the elevator was simply resetting itself and would be operating normally again in just a short time. Minutes later there came a second low thud, louder this time. The elevator gave another lurch but still it didn't budge.

[The elevator is smooth and quiet, Gansey and its one other occupant so far having given one another only the minimal attention due to a stranger in an elevator. And surely it would have stayed that way, if not for the elevator coming to a sudden and complete stop in between the dings noting the passing floors.

He's standing by the buttons, so he tries pressing the floor he's going to one more time with no luck. No response from the door open button, either. He tries the emergency button next; even that doesn't do anything obvious, but he can at least hope it sent some kind of signal to someone.]

[Momiji is surprisingly unperturbed when the elevator lurches to a halt. He lets his inadvertent companion fuss with the buttons and the emergency phone while simply looking at his cell (verdict: no reception) and bouncing on tiptoe as if to keep himself occupied.

Once all avenues of immediate escape are exhausted, though, he starts bouncing a tad more urgently, eying the door and his co-prisoner with quiet concern.]

Soooo-o... [He says finally, as if this were a very casual situation. Just, you know, giving you an update in passing here.]

[From her side of the elevator she watches with bated breath as Zack attempts to pry the door open and fails. It was obvious from the tenseness of her shoulders and the frown on her face that she didn't like the current situation- If it hadn't been for Zack's presence she would have been freaking out more than usual. The sound of his voice pulls her back to focus and gets her to halt her momentary pacing, wings trembling anxiously underneath her jacket.

She chirps once in agreement, the sound akin to that of a bird as she slips out a sleek-looking smartphone, fingers typing something out and then pressing play:] Um.. Sure, I guess that would be fine. [It is the sound of a woman's robotic monotone voice that blares from the device, speaking for her.

She lets out a shaky breath, anxiously shifting from foot to foot. She figures playing a little game would help ease the stress she was feeling.]

[ getting stuck in an elevator with an angel shouldn't be such a bad thin, really— they are, you know, very in tune with the electromagnetic spectrum. which means that, when the elevator stalls, castiel's first thought is: i can fix this.

but after twenty minutes pacing the elevator like a tiger circling the inside of its cage, sliding his hands over the scuffed walls, castiel discovers something very concerning.

he can't fix this.

he rolls his eyes as he raises them to the lights above. it's entirely possible that he's cursing god directly.

after a moment, he turns back to dean, looking sheepish. ]
