A First Meeting Meme

Meeting new people is fun! That first meeting though, it always sort of sets the tone. So is it a good meeting, or a bad one? Will you make a new friend, or do you part just as much strangers as you started as? Or as enemies even.

1.) On the Bus
The bus is packed full of people and oof- Getting hit by a bag like that's gotta hurt! Somehow you find yourself all squished up with someone and oops- sorry, didn't mean to step on your foot like that! Or maybe you're one of the ones lucky enough to just be sharing a seat with someone... Either way, you're gonna be on this bus for a while, so why not strike up a conversation?

2.) Lonely Beach
Sure is nice on the beach, but it's not quite the season for lots of people... Or maybe it's just really, really late... Either way, you find yourself alone, but... Seems like someone else decided it was time for a walk along the beach as well. It's a good time to meet someone new, isn't it? It can get rather lonely to just chill by yourself.

3.) Café Meet
So the place is full and you've got a table all for yourself... Maybe you should invite that poor sucker who came in late in the lunch rush to join you at your table. Chances are, they'll appreciate it! And you'll get a partner in conversation... Hopefully?

4.) Hey, so You Like...
This totally awesome video game! Or movie! Or... Well, whatever kind of store you're in, someone obviously has impeccable taste and you can't help but point it out.

5.) This is My Spot
You totally saw that picnic spot first! Or that bench! Or... Whatever it is you kids get territorial over these days. Regardless, this stranger totally stole your spot. Do you argue with them over it, or ask to join them?

6.) The Accident
So you just bumped into someone... Or maybe they bumped into you! Do you apologize? Do they apologize? Were any belongings dropped and oh my goodness, did all your loose change just roll off all over the street. Would be nice if the stranger gave you a helping hand, no?

7.) The Bar
Always a good place to meet someone. Slide right up to them at the bar to chat them up! Or maybe wait for them to chat you up if you're shy.

8.) Youth Club
For those of you who're minors. It's just a place where people gather to hang out, but... There's games, people, music, even non-alcoholic drinks and food. It's a good opportunity to meet someone your age and make some new friends.

9.) Blind Date
Let's face it, you were probably set up. Do you make the most of it, or does it just turn super awkward?

10.) First Impressions
Wildcard option. Come up with a scenario of your own or choose from the above.

She didn't need to be told twice. "I was actually talking about you teleporting us here," she pointed out, looking at him over her shoulder for a second before trying a cookie bit that said Oreo on it, and groaning. "I am never going to get enough of this."

His question had her stopping though, turning so that she was facing him fully. "They don't, actually. Well, they might by now, but I left a while ago. How did you know?" she asked, tilting her head to one side as he made his own bowl. Jenny found a place to sit and dug in to her ice cream, humming happily. "I just mean, most humans don't pick me out of a line up as an alien," she explained. Then it occurred to her. "You're not human, are you?" Jenny asked, her head tilted to one side.

He waited for her to put it all together. Jenny was one smart cookie, he'd give her that. Not that the whole teleportation thing hadn't given him away entirely but then she very clearly didn't really know a whole lot about humans. That of course didn't make her stupid, just uneducated. Probably for the best. Humans were boring.

Well most humans.

"Only parts of me." The smile he gives her can only be described as sly and he shoots her a wink. "I can do all kinds of fun things. I want to hear about you though. Where are you from? I am shamefully mostly just familiar with inhabitants of the earth."

He was dodgy, that was for sure. Jenny wondered about that, why he avoided talking about himself. She'd have to try to get him to open up, at least a little. But, she knew that the best way to do that was to give him something in return. So, she had another bite of ice cream, and then launched into her story.

"I'm a Time Lord. I was generated barely a year ago, on Messaline, a starter planet very far from here. There are humans and Hath there. Both sides were at war, for a long time," she said, pausing to take another bite. "But my father came. The Doctor," she smiled, sadly. "He came, I was created, he saved us all, and then I died. I don't know much about it, but what I've been able to find out so far is that Time Lords can regenerate. Most get new bodies, but I didn't. I don't know why," Jenny admitted. "I don't know if I can do it again, and I don't where he is to ask. So I travel," she shrugged. "I find new planets, help where I can, and hope, one day, that I'll find him again. He left before I woke up," she explained. "The others told me he didn't think I was going to."

Her story earns her a strange look and his head cocked to the side. It is very, very, very rare for Gabriel to be surprised or for him to encounter something he doesn't know about or understand. He's one of the oldest things in the universe and he's had a lot of time to explore, however ... his focus, like most angels, has always been on Earth. He had sort of known that life existed elsewhere (well obviously it existed on other planes too) but he'd never really paid attention to anything happening on any other planets.

So, her story is kind of fascinating.

"Time Lord - wouldn't that make you a Time Lady? So where does the time fit in? You time travel?"

"Nope," Jenny said with a little bit of a laugh, before spooning another helping of ice cream into her mouth. "Time Lord is a species, not a rank," she explained, remembering Donna asking much the same question, and the 'you're a moron' look her father had given her at the time.

She bounced her head from side to side in a vague manner. "Sort of. Time Lords, I guess, were in charge of time back in the day, but they're all gone now. Just me and Dad left, as far as I know. He time travels, and I guess he's good at it. I sort of..." Jenny waved her hand around. "End up places and times. I'm not very good at it, and my ship isn't exactly equipped for that sort of thing to begin with."

"Time travel in a ship. What a concept. Sounds a little sketchy to me - not to mention inaccurate. You probably miss more than you hit am I right?" Gabriel grinned and took and overlarge bite of his own ice cream.

"Of course I suppose if you really feel the need you probably don't have any other choice if you don't have a natural talent for it. I suppose not everyone can be so blessed. Makes it less fun for those of us who are." He winked at her and delved back into the dessert.

Jenny frowned. "I'm new at it," she said defensively, pouting a little bit, her spoon falling idle into her ice cream. "And besides, my ship isn't supposed to time travel. It's not like I have a TARDIS like Dad does. It does most of the work for him. I made my ship capable of it," she told him.

"Besides," she said, shifting her head haughtily. "If it's easy and perfect every time, where's the fun in that? Always knowing exactly where you're going to end up? That's got to be boring, isn't it?" she pointed out.

"I have no idea what a TARDIS is, but that sounds even more sketchy. I'll give it to you though, you've got some smarts, kid. Still, I prefer knowing where I'm gonna end up. Screwing with the time continuum is no laughing matter. Putting everything back the way it's supposed to be is a pain in the ass and creates way too much red tape."

He licks his way around his spoon, chasing a stray bit of chocolate syrup and then frowns slightly. "This needs pistachio. Anyway - so where and when have you gone so far?"
