[ Some things just can't permanently change. The tension Steve feels between him and Billy is one of those things. On the one hand, it's that tension that makes fooling around together so good. On the other hand, it just means they're always dancing on the edge of another fight.

Like now, standing just inside the doorway of Billy's home after Steve's dropped Max off a little after nine-thirty, which apparently is just a little too late even though Arcade Night is a weekly occurrence for the younger teens. Even Steve knows you don't just stop playing when you're working on getting a new high score. That wasn't the right thing to say, though, and after some choice words between the two of them, Steve gives Billy a shove to the chest to get him to put some space between them. ]
