But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

i. Scenarios ① kidnapped for ransom - everyone wants to make a quick buck. and what quicker way is there than ransoming someones life. Not that everything always goes to plan. Let's just hope that everyone comes out alive and happy. ② kidnapped for revenge - Someone was on the wrong side. Maybe it's the significant other of an Ex. Maybe it's the Ex themselves. Or perhaps it's even more complicated than that. Either way, there's nothing sweeter. ③ cracknapping - Okay, so you didn't mean to drink that much, but now you have woken up in a room with a bunch of mascots from the game and what is going on? ④ kidnapped for help - We need you help. Whether you're willingly up to offer it or not. ⑤ kidnapped for their own good - Want to get you out of a bad situation. It's for your own good. Trust us. You're safe now, you won't be hurt any more. ⑥accidental kidnapping - okay. so this wasn't... exactly what was planned. But looks like we've got an extra person now. W H O O P S ??? ⑦ wildcard - Anyway you want it. ii. relationship ① kidnapper and kidnapee - The prize and the thief, what better combination? ② kidnapee and rescuer - Don't worry, they're here to save you. ③kidnapees! - Well. Derek's place doesn't have anything for me to change into...

Alright, fine. We'll go to the hotel. You can borrow some of Gretel's clothes.

[chromatist]

Right, well, I'm showering at the hotel too, since I don't think Derek even has running water, and I haven't been able to get clean for three days.

[burnthemall]

Okay, can I start driving again?

[chromatist]

[She thinks about this for a second, then huffs and slowly straightens.] God, you're so demanding.

[burnthemall]

Ha, that's rich coming from you.

[He gets back on the road and back towards Beacon Hills.]

[chromatist]

[She gives his shoulder a half-hearted punch but doesn't say anything.

His bitching is totally fond, she can tell.]

[burnthemall]

[He's working his way towards tolerating her. It's the only reason he's willing to take her to the house he and his sister are renting on the edge of Beacon Hills.

He parks the Jeep behind the house, out of view. No reason to have the Sheriff see it.]

[chromatist]

[He totally tolerates her.

The car has barely stopped before she's slipping out, his coat still clutched around her shoulders.]

[He opens the back door for her and gestures her in.]

Come on.

[He leads her to the master bedroom where the bed has clearly been slept in and there's a mattress on the floor next to it.]

Bathroom's over there with clean towels. I'll find something that might fit you.

[chromatist]

Thank you.

[She shrugs out of his jacket and leaves it on the bed before walking towards the bathroom. Once the door has been pulled shut behind her, she lets herself lean back against it and cover her face, shaking a little.]

[He digs through his sister's stuff until he finds a t-shirt and some sweatpants he thinks will fit. Gretel can donate some clothes to a cause. He gets out one of his own sweatshirts because he figures she'll be cold from shock still.

He knocks on the door with a knuckle.]

Got your clothes, Red.

[chromatist]

[She has to scramble to her feet to open the door, scrubbing at her face to hide the tears that fell from her eyes without her permission.

By the time she opens the door, she looks mostly okay.]

[He puts the clothes gently in her arms.]

We all cry doing this job. When you stop feeling you might as well put yourself down. It hurts, but that's good. It'll make you stronger, better. Don't ever think crying makes you weak.

[chromatist]

I'm only crying 'cause my face hurts.

[It's clearly a lie, but she gives him a little smile as she accepts the clothes he pushes into her arms. They're the only thing that's stopping her from stepping forward and making him hug her again, he should be grateful.]

Do you have a washing machine?

[burnthemall]

Yeah, my balls feel the same.

[He's trying to make a joke.]

In the basement. Get in the shower and I'll take your dirty stuff downstairs.

[chromatist]

I didn't mean to knee you on my way down.

[She nods, backing into the bathroom again.] Okay, hold on.

[A minute later, one pale arm snakes out from behind the door, her clothes balled up in it, bra and panties included. She's not putting them back on, they're dirty.]

[burnthemall]

Just a happy accident.

[Eh, he's washed his sisters stuff before. He doesn't care. He takes the stuff and heads for the basement.]

[chromatist]

I'll try not to repeat it. Unless you give me reason to, of course.

[He better not fuck up her bra by putting it in the dryer or something. She wears expensive lingerie, it requires delicate handling.

It's funny how you stop appreciating things if you get to have them every day. Right now, Lydia is convinced that she's never had a better shower in her life, even if she doesn't have all her products that she normally needs. The water is clean, the pressure is good, she's warm and feels safe for the first time in days... She may stay in there until the water runs cold again and she has to tumble out before she becomes an icicle. Sorry, hopefully you weren't planning on using it next, Hansel.

Eventually she emerges from the bathroom dressed in the clothes he gave her, braiding her hair over her shoulder.]

[burnthemall]

[He chucks it all into the wash and just lets it wash. He doesn't notice details like that. When he's done he goes to the kitchen to heat up some leftovers for them to eat.]

[chromatist]

[She's going to yell at him for that later. But right now, she's too hungry to investigate. The smell of food has her wandering into the kitchen.]

...What's that?

[burnthemall]

Chicken and dumplings. And some beef lo mein. Take your pick.

[He gets a beer out for himself and puts a bottle of water on the kitchen island for her.]

I texted your pack to let them know where you are.

[chromatist]

Both is good.

[She gives him the stink-eye for a second before taking the water.]

Thanks. They tend to worry.

Yeah, I didn't want them tearing through the house and making a mess. I sort of like that Boyd guy. I'd hate to shoot him.

[He sits on the counter, dangling his beer between his legs.]
