Ways to show affection
![]() When it comes to the way affection is shown, everyone has a different way they go about it. That means that there's a pretty good chance, with regards to couples, you could end up with two people who have two varying approaches towards how they prove they care...sometimes radically varying, which can lead to more than a little confusion or hurt feelings if there's not proper communication. But when both people are on the same page, they can tell each other how they feel with few words. ☄ Comment with your character, info, prefs, and how your character will likely show affection. |
🪓 ardbert | final fantasy xi | ota.

Her eyes have since closed, enjoying the sounds beyond the window and finding some relaxation in the safety of the Crystarium as she knows not what tomorrow may bring. Hearing the increasingly familiar rustle of armor and leather behind her, Ari's ears flick towards the sound, her tail twitching with excitement as she glances over her shoulder to offer Ardbert a soft, gentle smile before shifting to make room for him beside her on the sill. )

just realized i messed up the numerals for ffxiv like a dumbArdbert takes the last few steps needed before turning his eyes up towards the starry night. He can remember what the sky looked like from her world--the Source. The stars almost seemed backwards from what he was used to seeing. He supposes that makes sense now, knowing what they do. His world being a splinter and all that. Not that such a detail really is important. Who is going to care about the idle thoughts of a ghost who hasn't figured out why he's still lingering about the world?
He crosses his arms and looks at the spot she's made him. A wry smile touches his face. )
You know I really can't sit down, or well, interact with much of anything. Given the fact I'm a ghost.

You could at least humor me and pretend, perhaps float through and squat down in the middle; it should look as if you are sitting then.
( Offering the seat beside her was the natural thing to do, the action made without thought, but now that he is teasing her about it, Ari can't shake the creeping embarrassment that threatens to overtake her. She can't begin to fathom what it has been like for him — years lingering and watching while wandering the world, unable to interact with anything or anyone. Sometimes it sounds like a fate worse than imprisonment or death to wander for all of eternity or until he figures out what keeps him bound to this world. )

Float, really? Have you ever seen me float? Well, minus that time when we all spoke at the Mothercrystal.
( He gives a feigned sigh of annoyance and shakes his head. The gesture is appreciated. It's nice - even for a time - to be treated as a person. Not just a hero, or a villain. A person. He supposes that's why he's come to rather enjoy their talks during the reprieve of it all. That, and, she's the only bloody person that can see him anyways.
Ardbert eventually relents and takes the seat beside her. He leans forward, elbows on his knees, staring forward at the ground in front of him. Them. )
Now that you've seen my world and I yours... what do you think of Norvrandt? What remains of it that is. There used to be a whole wide world beyond just it. Until the Flood anyways.

Though he lacks a corporeal form, he is still a person and should be treated as one. While she may not have experienced the anguish and loneliness all these long years, she understands how he felt and wishes to do what she can — even if it's the smallest of jesters — to alleviate that pain.
A soft, teasing hint of a smile tugs at the corner of her lip, but she quickly brings her bottom lip between her teeth to stop it from forming fully. The soft print of her fangs against skin is enough to quell the bit of deviousness that surfaced within her, leaving her straight-faced as she turns to look at him, the mismatched gaze of her's settling upon him as he settles beside her.
Her ears perk at his question, though they flatten against her head as she falls into silence, her gaze turning towards the star-speckled sky.
It takes Aribeth a moment before she answers, her ears shifting to a relaxed position as her tail softly swishes behind her before curling around her side, resting between them. )
Ethereal, unlike anything I have ever seen before and likely, could only dream of. Though the Flood was blinding and everything awash with light, the land's beauty was unmistakable.
With darkness filling the sky and the stars shining through, it all still takes my breath away to look at it. I wish I could have seen it as before, as you remember it, and ventured through the lands.
literally, an eternity later
That's the thing about Aribeth, isn't it? She can understand some things about him that none else seemed to. There is an odd sense of familiarity and companionship, now that he hasn't gotten his head so far up his own arse about lies and follies that Elidibus gave him. He wonders then, if things had been different when they went to the Source, if they could have avoided so much trouble his world finds itself in.
Could the Flood have been stopped sooner? More lives saved? Perhaps even stop Sin Eaters from existing at all? )
I think you would have liked Votenburg. ( It seems similar to the place they met anyways. Gard, something, wasn't it? ) Knights, princesses, kingdom and all that. Just the fae took over after they fell. Like most places here.
