When it comes to the way affection is shown, everyone has a different way they go about it. That means that there's a pretty good chance, with regards to couples, you could end up with two people who have two varying approaches towards how they prove they care...sometimes radically varying, which can lead to more than a little confusion or hurt feelings if there's not proper communication. But when both people are on the same page, they can tell each other how they feel with few words.

Xingchen never demands obvious signs of affection. He knows his soulmate's heart, and it's enough they cultivate and travel together. But sometimes, he can't quite resist little things, like finding Zichen's favorite foods or tea and do his best to prepare them the way the other man likes best.

He can't be Zhou Zishu and he has no desire to try. However Wen Kexing seems to like being in his company regardless and Xiao Xingchen clings to that belief as he enters the Ghost Valley. He is afraid - only a fool wouldn't be - but he doesn't turn away, each of his steps confident.

He is not Zhou Zishu, but that doesn't mean he will be turned away.

"I am here to see your lord." he tells the Ghosts that stop him, keeping Shuanghua sheathed the entire time, "He knows me. Tell him Xiao Xingchen wishes an audience with him, please."

The weapons that brush against him do not outwardly bother him, though his heart hops like a frightened rabbit in his chest.
