Sing, sing, sing...

Life should be more musical, shouldn't it? But that's why we love musicals - a bit of joy, no matter what. So let's write our characters into some of our favourite songs and scenarios. Here's a few prompts below to get you started, but by all means do your own thing! That's what a good musical number is for!
Potential Prompts, Presented Properly:
➟ 1. You're trapped in a famous musical! Now all that's left is to play it out with you and another character(s). Does it go as it usually goes? Does it go off-script? Does someone set fire to the script and run about adding electric guitars and lasers to Phantom? Your call.
➟ 2. Your character(s) are in a musical universe - a song ensues! But none of the participants has any idea they're in a musical. They're just gonna sing it up and get woodland creatures to join in, not knowing this isn't a thing that's supposed to happen.
➟ 3. One of you absolutely knows this isn't a thing that is supposed to happen.
➟ 4. Solo Number - Are you putting on a ballad, a performance? A rock anthem? A sultry birthday song for that special someone or someones? Call your shot, see what you get!
➟ 5. Duet - either on stage, or just for fun - two duelling visions in song? Talking about what a swell party this is? A travel number to get Bob and Bing on the road to Morocco? Or Tulio and Miguel on the road to El Dorado?
➟ 6. The Villain Piece - You're evil and somebody's gonna know why. This villain anthem is a classic option - be prepared for it, and sometimes it's just so easy when you're evil.
➟ 7. The Ensemble Piece - Ambitious Option: get a group together and go for the gusto!
➟ 8. The Big Show Option - Bubsy Berkley and Florenz Ziegfeld would approve. Make it big, make it unrealistic. Maybe some fireworks. Definitely sequins.
➟ 9. Rock Opera - Do Freddy Mercury proud. Rock on.
➟ 10. Classic Opera - Do Verdi proud. Watch out for Otis. B. Driftwood.

May “Mayday” Parker | Marvel Comics

The short version ran that they had been watching Phantom and May had bet her that Robert Englund had played him and Barbara...really shouldn't have bet against her. The price was a song - but busy schedules had put it off, and May hadn't brought it up in some time. In truth, Babs had been waiting for her opportunity.
Tomorrow was May's birthday. And a Barbara had done what a Barbara had done. Which was make plans. They sat on a particular corner, sitting on the edge of a planter section, finishing street dogs. She looked across the street where the musicians she'd hired were waiting, and gave them a nod. Time to start.
She casually placed her garbage in the trash, waited a beat...and then...
"Oh yeah," she started, in a clarion, high voice, "I'll tell you somethin'..."
She stood up, turning to May, skirt swaying around her as she gestured at her to stand with curled fingers on each hand. "I think you'll understand...
She stepped closer, wrapping an arm around her waist with a grin. "When I say that somethin'...", and then her voice rose... "I want to hold your haaaaaaaand, I want to hold your haaand..."

May was not what people would call a gracious winner, at least not when it came to bets with her friends and ESPECIALLY not when it came to bets with her girlfriend. There was an “in your face” dance followed by a “pillow to your face while doing the in your face dance” that devolved into a pillow fight that had far more acrobatics than what most people would fantasize a pillow fight between two girls having but leading to… well what a lot of those fantasies probably had pillow fights lead to. Apparently the “in your face” dance lead to “let’s get down” when she did it at her girlfriend.
She also didn’t think she’d ever stop being giddy about Babs being her girlfriend. In the morning it was, “How is my girlfriend this morning?” (At least after Babs had her coffee) and “What would my girlfriend like for lunch? No that is not an innuendo you need to EAT actual food, preferably some vegetables!” to “goodnight girlfriend” whispered in her ear as she fell asleep on the nights they both went to bed around the same time.
And it wasn’t that May had forgotten about the song, oh no, she was just saving the reminder about it for another time. That time never came though because while she was having lunch on her birthday with her GIRLFRIEND Babs stood up and started to sing along to the band that May honestly hadn’t really noticed. But then Babs was pulling her close and singing and if her hands weren’t holding Babs’ she would have clapped in delight. This was AMAZING.
May loved this song and there was something about hearing Babs sing it that made it so much better. Look out Beatles, Babs owned this song now. May had a huge, beaming grin on her face as Babs sang, just barely resisting the urge to pull her close and kiss her. May was so enraptured with her that it felt like all the rest of the world faded away.

"Oh please, say to me..." She turned again, sliding behind her, hips moving gently and encouraging May to sway with her. "You'll let me be your gal," and there was a little kiss under her ear.
"And please, say to me...you'll let me hold your hand..."
She turned with her so they were dancing, the band moving closer and the music swelling...
"I want to hold your haaaand..."
