The new vampire meme

Vampires can be a lot of things. Inherently evil or dark and brooding. Corrupted and repulsive or dark and alluring. Sometimes they even sparkle, whatever that's about. Some burst into flame the moment they touch sunlight, others take some warming up. They may be repelled by the cross or have no issue with it. They don't even always drink blood. But they remain intriguing, undead figures who feed on life force in one fashion or another.

Whether or an AU or not, let's have some vampire fun. Be you the undead monster themselves, the helpless victim conveniently exposing their throat, or the brave hunter sworn to hunt down the threat. Or somewhere inbetween them all. The choice is yours.

It's strange how the neighborhood can change. You vaguely know the person living on one side of you, enough to maybe say hi. And then it's like one day someone else is living there. If it's a house, maybe you just saw a moving truck. Or one day it all just seemed too empty. If it's an apartment, just one day there's someone knew in the hallway.

No matter how it happened, you don't remember anything about them moving out. But Jerry lives there, now. You only ever see him after dark, but he's amicable and open to an idle chat. He works nights, he explains. He's doing some work on his place, but he'll do his best to keep it down when everyone's asleep. You should come by for a drink some time. Get to know each other. Or maybe he's come knocking on your door, a little bit too late at night. But he's always been charming enough, it should be fine, right?

Luring in the neighbors had become his favorite game, but there were times when he wanted a good old fashioned chase. He stalks the streets of the city, waiting to find someone who looks like suitable prey. Someone who's alone, who might put up a good fight. He follows them, discreetly, until they're far enough from any witnesses. He makes himself known in the dark. Audible footsteps only a few feet behind them when there's no one there to see.

1. The Vampire

It isn’t even that Jon forgoes feeding on a regular basis on purpose. He just forgets. Being immortal makes it so much easier to go days without fulfilling that particular hunger, right up until he’s anemic enough to need someone to actually help him get blood for himself. He’d rather avoid that mortifying outcome this time, thank you very much, so here he is trawling the streets sometime close to midnight for a meal.

It doesn’t take him long to find someone auspiciously out on their own for whatever reason. What he doesn’t expect is to already smell blood on them. A small cut, maybe? Or had they gotten themselves into some bigger trouble? He pauses in the light of a streetlamp, probably staring for a beat too long to go unnoticed. Doesn’t help that the scent of blood is incredibly distracting…

2. The Hunter

Jon likes quiet, most of the time. He’d prefer a quiet night in than one spent out with a crowd, nothing but a glass of wine and an old book bigger than his head to keep him company. He doesn’t like it now though. Not on a hunt. It’s the type of silence that’s just too present and purposeful, less like an absence of something and more like a long-held breath waiting to be released. No going back now though, not if he’s been noticed.

He creeps around the corner of a mausoleum looking for his quarry (a vampire in a cemetery, so original) and scans the area with a quick glance. Nothing. Not even a breeze to move the grass a bit, but he’s very sure he’s not alone just the same.

Aoba Amami | OC

[Reworking Aoba's Character Info would give you a human who has been chosen by a vampire queen to be her next vessel. Said vampire queen was previously overthrown and sealed away by a hunter because she was yet too powerful to kill for good. Now potential scenarios are:

1. Human+Hunter Bodyguard: Aoba and a Hunter as a bodyguard who stays with her to prevent any vampires who may still be loyal to the queen from trying to turn Aoba and resurrect the vampire queen.
2a. Human+Vampire: A vampire wanting to prevent the resurrection of the old queen to keep their own territory stable. This is achieved by keeping Aoba around like a pet or convenient blood bag. Killing Aoba would just make the queen find a new vessel to latch on to.
2b. Human+Vampire: A vampire who was loyal or even loved the queen attempting to trigger her resurrection in any-which-way. Up to you if this is merely turning her and trying to make her do things the queen did, or much darker scenarios to break Aoba's psyche and make it easier for the queen to possess her.
3. Possessed Human+Any: A scenario in which Aoba is possessed by the queen intermittently. I would be using this journal when the queen is in control. This can technically be an add-on to any of the above scenes if wanted/needed.

Preferences: Generally OTA, willing to work on tailored scenarios and write starters, and okay for shipping and smut (for those preferences consult the kinklist).]

[ Okay I was just going to respond with a starter for this but I figured I might as well see if you had any additions or the like which seem fun to you. But my basic idea was to mash up 2a, 2b, and 3 where like the idea is that ~back in the day~ Masaomi was one of the spawn of said vampire queen and like any good vampire thus has a "basically in love with his mother figure" relationship with her, but it's been X many years since that time, so while he's technically duty (or perhaps even magically) bound to revive her, at this point he actually isn't that sure he wants to because he's had X many years of freedom to be his own vampire man.

Aoba unfortunately caught in the middle of that melodrama but that kind of suits her I think. Thus we get blood drinking, conflicted kidnapping, possession scolding, etc etc. Figure there's a lot to work out from there. ]

{{THE VAMPIRE: late 1800's to present, getting slowly more vampire-like as one goes. Mid- and post-WWI she's at her most vampiric, but even then she does her best to be in control and harmless and to keep her affliction a secret. She often butts heads with more predatory and hedonistic vampires and is timid with even humans who understand what's going on with her. She uses blood transfusions to stay alive, she's not even sure she'd bite someone even in a dire emergency, and even partners who are willing donors have their work cut out for them convincing her it's alright.

She maintains a library on paranormal and occult subjects, so it wouldn't be uncommon for hunters or people who study the paranormal or other supernatural persons to visit for information. Or she can cross paths just out and about.}}

(a.) HERITAGE (spoilers for chapter five of higurashi no naku koro ni!)

[ Sitting on the steps leading up to the Furude Shrine, Shion smiles. The breeze gently blows through her hair, casting flickering shadows against her skin, the vibrant green of her eyes glimmering faintly. She eventually closes them. ]

You remember, don't you? I may not be the rightful heir of the Sonozaki family, but I am her younger sister.

[ In Hinamizawa, a small, rural village, there are three important families: the Furude, Kimiyoshi, and Sonozaki. These three are tied closely to vampirism, with the Sonozaki being the strongest in every aspect, the Furude most powerful spiritually and supernaturally, and the Kimiyoshi in influencing the mind. The villagers look to these Heads, these vampires, for guidance and protection, doing their best to contribute to Hinamizawa and maintain happiness between those living there.

Despite being a Sonozaki herself, Shion is an outcast of her family. One would think she had little in strength given her status, or perhaps that she was stripped of her unique traits entirely. After all, she is the younger twin of her sister, Mion Sonozaki, and inherently inferior.

Or... so one would think.

In truth, Shion is the true heir. A simple switch in appearance with her twin is all it took to have her identity mistaken—and once Mion was tattooed with the mark of a vampire, that switch became permanent. As she is right now, Shion is the strongest vampire in Hinamizawa. No one except her sister knows, of course. ]

See, even I have fangs. They're sharp, too.

He is never late, which is Zoya's first clue that something went incredibly wrong on his hunt. The anticipation makes something itch beneath her skin.

She paces, it's an old favorite, and gets the job of keeping her moving done, but it's hardly proactive at all. There's nowhere for her to start, though. The idiot went charging in alone before any of them had time catch up to him. He hadn't even had the decency to tell her where he would be.]

Bastard. [She mutters in a sharp snap, her hand coming to slap down on the table. He's such a reckless fool sometimes. If he isn't dead, she's going to kill him. If he is dead, she's going to resurrect him just to kill him again.

She starts rummaging around in the mess he calls a desk for anything that might have some indication of where the hell he went. If he doesn't walk through that door in the next ten minutes, she's going to pick a direction and hope she finds him eventually.

She won't. That's futile. But dammit, Nikolai. Come back.]

[ two options here: 1) rika is a mixed-breed vampire, as the famous vampire - "oyashiro-sama" married into a human family, only diluting their blood more and more. her abilities as a vampire aren't as strong as ordinary ones, or even a pureblood, although rika has some abilities that neither of those categories have. 2) rika is someone that is going to be turned into one--she's from a family of 'demons', and rumor has it that the furude bloodline is one of the most delicious of all. ]

- He works at a bar called Dante's that caters to the supernatural set, and while he's not officially on the menu some people know what to ask for.
- Even if he's not working he's probably hanging around just in case.
- He heads up into the northwoods over the winters, it wouldn't be at all unusual to run into a vampire likewise trying to get away from the city.
- He's been known to run a safe/halfway house for vampires (and others) who need to get patched up/rest up for a couple days.]
