It wasn't his place to judge what others did on this world, and the less he involved himself, the better. He'd been involved too much back home. It was time to step away from it all. If the humans and mutants wanted to get themselves killed over a silly war of power, let them.

It was just too damn complicated to be 'silly'.
Still, Kit would agree he had the right to stay back and away, even if he had been yelling at her earlier about taking him as backup. She drained a mug of coffee, cradled the next cup in her hands like a teddy bear, and nodded back the way they'd come. "Well, let me introduce you to the hologram programming, then I"ll leave you to play with it as long as you like alright?" She'd...do rounds, take a shower, etc.

And in the end, Nickov thought it so depressingly silly that so much death came from two sides unable to understand one another.
The only difference between the war of humans versus mutants, and the war of nobles versus tribes was that many Valcovlians-on both sides-had no qualms about killing children. In fact, they encouraged it. You kill the offspring, and the enemy won't survive.
Nickov drained his cup and set it in the sink before following her, interest in the hologram technology diverting his thoughts away from the cruelty of both worlds.

Still, yes, there were better things to think on. Back down the elevator and down he hall to the glass walled control booth that looked over the Danger Room. "Here, there's two types of control. You can punch everything in with numbers if you're a math brain like me, or you can reach through the light board here and trace out the lines of your hologram..."
From getting basic lines to how to change textures and colors, it wasn't simple exactly but it was intuitive and voice commands allowed for the 'Shit, undo the last change!' command.

The Danger Room now showed an exact replica of Nickov's home world.
As far as the eye could see was a sea of sand as fine as sugar and red as blood. Everything was bathed in an almost unending dawn or dusk light, despite the settings having been set for midday. He'd set it so that they were in an oasis of sorts, and the trees that clung to life here were several stories tall and had huge trunks. But there was no greenery here. All the flora and fauna and the like were a mix of purples, and dark reds, with an occasional splash of bright yellow.

When she came back, well, he was done with his scene and she leaned in the control room doorway, looking. "Hell, no wonder you're cold all the time here."

He ended up with a lion that had the coat designs of a giraffe.
"Well...that was...not what I wanted...Oh um....Shit, undo last command" he said copying Kit's method. The weird hybrid disappeared.

"Details can be a bitch, relax. It was cute, whatever it was."

It wasn't perfect, but it was close.
He started to leave the box when he remembered he needed an access code to get in. "Care to join me?" he asked

Nickov let her open it up and a wave of warm air washed over both of them. The alien sighed pleasantly and they stepped inside. The sand was warm and soft under his clawed feet and he gazed around at his creation of the mind.
Obviously the air was not the poisonous gas that would have killed anyone not indigenous to the planet. And it was only about half the highest in temperature, about eighty.

"No cities? No buildings?"
no subject
"Many buildings are partially underground to keep cool and lessen the damage of sandstorms." he explained

Did it matter?
"Why didn't you look for a world like yours?"
