[Tyler's taken her back to his house now and though she's drunk Klaus' blood, she's still recovering. He can't help but feel responsible. If he had just left when Caroline asked him to. If he hadn't sunk to Klaus' level -- he had come so close to losing her. He's still scared, which is why he's sitting next to her in bed, running his fingers through her hair.]

Derek had been talked into both checking on Blaine and bringing him medicine by Isaac, who had reasoned that Blaine had already missed a couple of days, the rest of them were going to be in school, and someone needed to bring him medicine and his assignments. His finishing touch was adding that Blaine might've been good to join the pack and while Derek realized it was a very obvious attempt to convince him to listen, he agreed to it anyway. He was the judge as to whether or not anyone was good for the pack and he hadn't had contact with Blaine outside of seeing him in passing once or twice since he'd arrived in town.

So, that was how Derek found himself outside of the apartment Blaine was apparently in, a couple of bags in one hand as he knocked on the door and hoped he wasn't going to have to explain who he was to a parent or other guardian before he could deliver what he was there for.

[ Who the hell decided it was a good idea to leave Kurogane alone with a sick and fragile kid? Whoever it was, was probably out of his mind. At least that was Kurogane's opinion on the matter. What did he know about children? It wasn't as if he could even try and beat sense into this one.

So here he is, sitting at Fai's bedside with a bowl of soup and a piece of soft, warm bread, feeling awkward and out of place. Someone was definitely going to pay for this. ]

[The fever is bad enough to make the world go blurry at the edges, spin in a dangerous and dizzying way if she moves too quickly. [As soon as Ito called him, Ryoji knew something was off. He wasn't sure what in the world it could be, but hearing him on the phone just made Ryoji think of that time Minato had gotten the flu. So of course, even though Ito tried to claim that he was fine until Ryoji came home, he cut his errands short, only stopping to pick up a few things he suspected Ito would need in the next couple days, and then returned home, quietly tiptoeing through the house.]

[the thing about Eric is that when he's feeling down he's bound to ... act the same as he always does. good luck figuring out if anything's different from usual when he barely says anything in the first place; it's not like it's really possible for him to get any quieter or still than he is on a normal day.

by mid afternoon, however, the color high on his pale cheeks has become more than apparent. he's started to drift off on the couch, visibly slumping to the side.]

[ To Izumo's credit, it doesn't take him long to notice once the color pops up high on his cheeks and he begins to list, the fever likely catching up to him as the bar caught and held the day's heat. It's still a few hours before opening and HOMRA has long-since been ready to go; now it's just a matter of killing time.

He won't reach out to touch him before Eric's aware of it, and he keeps a polite distance when he hunkers down on his haunches before the boy, a touch of concern knitting his brow. ]

[ And he waits, studying him. Practically kicks himself in the ass for not having checked earlier, but Eric's brow is damp and he's paler than usual, cheeks a livid pink with shadows beneath his eyes. Whenever Eric responds, then Izumo will reach to touch his forehead; but only then. He'd heard the story and had dug a little further. The barkeep had a pretty good idea what sort of shadow of "life" Eric had led before coming here. ]

[ Eric staying with them at HOMRA was hardly a bothersome matter. the kid was quiet enough, seemed perfectly all right with the silence that tended to dominate between both Mikoto and Anna, whenever she'd stay over, he didn't expect to be entertained or taken care of either-- there was enough space for it as well.

so it was all fine and well with Mikoto. not that there was much choice in it, but. it wasn't bothersome, which was a plus.

so when by the evening Mikoto finds Eric passed out on the couch downstairs, face unusually flushed and damp from sweat. all Mikoto can do for a particularly long moment is stand there and stare, cigarette stick hanging low out of his mouth. finally he leans down to press the back of his fingers -- just the index and the middle finger, just the knuckles really -- to Eric's forehead, beneath the blond bangs, free hand on his hip. predictably, his temperature is higher, much higher, than it should be. that much Mikoto knows. a slight frown pulls at his brows and he straightens his back again, but doesn't walk away. instead he pulls out his PDA to text Izumo about the situation. then Tatara--

but as it quite quickly turns out, neither could make it back any time soon. neither could even as much as tell him what to do. so unless Mikoto were to bother any of the other HOMRA members, he's on his own.

his cigarette twitches between his lips as he grits his teeth on the orange filter and after a second he plucks it out irritably, turning to put it out in the ashtray on the table. that done, without any further ceremony or thought wasted on what to do now, he leans down again to pick Eric up in his arms. it's easy, it would be easy even without the power of the slate running through his entire body, and the thought, along with the reason for why Eric is this light, sparks a flare of anger that Mikoto finds difficult to subdue for a moment there. ]

[Pick your scenario:

1. Shouhei is sleeping upstairs in the bar, where Mikoto usually sleeps. In a bed??? A couch? IDK, but he's there, taking up space.
2. Shouhei is hungover and cradling his head between his knees somewhere in the bar. It's 4 in the morning and all the HOMRAs are either asleep or have gone home.
3. Someone from Shouhei's work called the bar and asked someone to pick him up because he's not feeling well. He's huddled against the wall outside with his hat pulled over his face.
4. Obviously sick with the flu, Shouhei is trying to dismiss himself out of the bar to head back home. He's flushed and sweaty! ]

[ And like a proper mama, Izumo has arrived looking a little ruffled. Not out of worry for one of his errant degenerates, no; because he'd just been tempting a lovely young lady on a date back at HOMRA when he'd received the call.

Regardless of all the jokes, Izumo is not actually anyone's parent!! Why was he getting called about Shouhei to come get him... ]

Didn't get into a fight or anythin', did ya?

[ Offering a hand to haul his clansman to his feet, the other holding a cigarette between his lips. At least it hadn't been too far of a walk, and his temper simmers back down when he sees the pathetic state Shouhei's huddled in. ]
