rain

the caught in the rain meme
It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm with an endless downpour. Time to quickly find cover! Nothing much to do but to wait it out. Where is the rain happening? How are you coping? Why are you out when it hits?
RULES
• Leave a comment with your character's name and fandom.
• RNG for a number between 1-10 to get your scenario. Mix and match!
• Have fun!
SCENARIOS
i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND | Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK | Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT | Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 BEACH | Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 FOREST | Mud, bugs and all the rambler's paths are washed away so you don't know how to get out.
006 SKY | On a plane? A pegasus? You were there when the first drop fell.
007 EMPTY CITY | Maybe it was a zombie apocalypse or WW3. It's safer outside when all the nasties take refuge indoors.
008 AT SEA | Nothing is worse than an unexpected freak storm here. Except sea monsters.
009 TEMPLE | It's beautiful, but leaky.
010 WILD CARD | Your call.
ii HOW:
001 TREE | Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA | Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER | Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck.
004 SHIRT | Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 MAGIC | Wave that wand or chant a spell.
006 CARDBOARD | Out of a dumpster. Nice.
007 LEAVES | Not under a tree: just one really huge leaf.
008 CAVE | Not very deep, but it keeps off the worst.
009 NONE | You don't need cover, screw convention.
010 WILD CARD | Your call.
iii WHY:
001 REJECTED | Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING | For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY | Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS | Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singin. Singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER | WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO, RAIN.
006 ACCEPTANCE | You had to be here anyway, it wasn't a choice.
007 SCIENCE | Everyone else is inside but you've got work to do.
008 ACCIDENTAL | Lost track of time? Forgot your coat? Oops. Now you look like a wet rat.
009 KISSING | They kissed you. How are you supposed to leave them alone out here after that?
010 WILD CARD | Your call.

Lan Wangji pays attention to the boy that he'd fallen for. How could he not? It was also possible that a certain someone texted him as well to know what was going on. They might not get along, but they have one person they cared about in common.
He picks up his phone and texts his brother before giving a hum to himself," Xichen will be bringing your things, including Chenqing, by morning. I am going to get cleaned up." He does just that. Heads upstairs to get cleaned up. When he comes back down, he sits down and looks towards the other.
"Would Wei Ying prefer the violin or the Guqin?"
no subject
He made a tea set from pottery. It wasn’t dishwasher safe but Lan Wangji seemed like the kind to wash stuff like that by hand anyway. It was drying after being painted, a mixture of gentian flowers on some of the cups and the others with spider lilies. He had done his best to not make them clash and felt he’d done well by decorating the teapot itself with both. That was probably going to be shattered.
When Lan Wangji left him alone he gave himself a chance to just—let it all sink in. His body curling up against the table and head resting on top of it as he tried to fight back some tears. He was so tired, Madam Yu had always been a bit cruel to him but this had just been unreasonable. He didn’t even know what he did wrong, he tried so very hard to avoid her that he hadn’t thought he’d stepped on any toes. His head was absolutely pounding in sync with the cut on his arm too.
He doesn’t hear Lan Wangji come back till he’s sitting there and asking questions. He laughs into the table wetly and shakes his head. “I don’t really want music Lan Zhan, and if there has to be music I don’t particularly care.” If it made Lan Wangji feel better to play he could do whatever he wanted, Wei Wuxian himself still wanted to keep running away. He was too close to Lotus Pier even here on the mountain top.

"Then I will just hold Wei Ying, and we will just sit here in silence if that is what he wishes."
no subject
“Am I supposed to still go to school tomorrow? Am I supposed to drop out?” He’s never given up on anything in his life and he was a good student, smart. He was in those AP classes with Lan Wangji and loved Orchestra. He was so close to graduating too.
no subject
More that he was ruining the other sulking. Though, even if he wasn't ruining it, he understood the reason behind the statement itself. He keeps his arms around the other and brushes his hand lightly up and down his back when the other spoke up again.
"Wei Ying will still go to school tomorrow. He will hold his head high because he is strong. And if he does not think that he can use his own strength, he will come find this one and use the strength of the Lan."
no subject
"Everyone will laugh if I show up in your clothes, Lan Zhan doesn't have normal clothes. He always dresses like he's ready for a concert and then at actual concerts he dresses like he's ready to meet the Emperor." Despite his teasing Lan Wangji always looked good though. Wei Wuxian loved him in his sweater vests. "Even Lan Zhan's house is immaculate. Are you actually a God?"
no subject
"Did Wei Ying miss where I said that Xichen would bring your things in the morning?" He counters. There's a soft laugh," I am not a God. I would not know how to be a God, Wei Ying." Everything, so far, was left in his brother's hands. Xichen would do whatever he could.
"How is Wei Ying's arm?"
no subject
His arm was going to scar and that felt like proof enough that she was stupidly talented with that damn thing. "I don't even know what I said, something along the lines of you never liked me anyway and she just lost it? It's not a lie, she's always hated me. Always looking for a reason to get rid of me."
He sighed and closed his eyes. "Unless Xichen is going over now he might not find much tomorrow. I made you something too and it was drying tonight."
no subject
Another kiss to his temple," Xichen is going tonight. It is why we have to wait until morning for him to bring it here, Wei Ying. I did not want Xichen to go there and then have to come immediately here. He will retrieve what is needed and then he will return home, and in the morning he will come here."
no subject
“Did Lan Zhan leave practice and then wait at the bus stop for me? Did you actually miss the last bus?” Lan Wangji had just said he’d left practice late, he didn’t say why he left it and why he had been waiting at the bus stop. Usually he drove a car anyway, if he didn’t walk. Wei Wuxian knew he walked to school and then home if the weather permitted it. He had sometimes walked the other home himself and then walked the long distance to Lotus Pier just to spend more time with Lan Wangji.

There's a soft hum," Wanyin contacted me. He was worried. Though, I'm sure if he had not contacted me when he did I would not of been allowed back into the estate." There's almost a hint of teasing there. "This one did miss the last bus. He was keeping his brother apprised of the situation and not paying attention." He had also been worrying too.
no subject
“We should go to bed then, if Lan Zhan plans on going to school in the morning. I know he usually sleeps at nine anyway. Do you actually live here on your own?” He didn’t have to pay rent so perhaps it wasn’t that surprising, Lan Wangji lived at home just in a separate building. “Where does Lan Zhan want this one to sleep?”
no subject
It didn't, however, seem like either of them wanted to really move. Lan Wangji quite liked holding Wei Wuxian close to him. Though, if he had known what others said then he would of set them and the man in his arms straight. He did not hate Wei Wuxian.
"I live here alone, Wei Ying." Though, at the question of where he wanted Wei Wuxian to sleep, a bit of a blush creeps into his cheeks. "Where this one wants Wei Ying to sleep might be a bit bold and asking too much of him."
no subject
The first time Wei Wuxian spoke to Lan Wangji was in Orchestra. He dragged his big flute case over, awkward in his body with his overly long limbs and messy ponytail. He’d smiled brightly, excited, and told the other he was very pretty and played the violin brilliantly. Lan Wangji’s ears had turned a bright shade of red and he looked so surprised Wei Wuxian was worried he’d upset him. Apparently he’d never gotten genuine praise before and everyone else around him was jealous of him. Enough that he’d been bullied.
The first time he’d left his violin case unattended Su She had put some sort of green jello inside it and nearly ruined Bichen. Wei Wuxian had taken that jello, walked right up to the other, and slapped Su She’s stupid fucking face with a palm full of it. Lan Wangji had looked so surprised, as if it was genuinely incomprehensive that someone would defend him. Wei Wuxian had been so pissed at Su She for what he did and Lan Wangji for not thinking he was worth defending.
No one touched Lan Wangji’s violin again and they’d worked hard to save Bichen. Lan Wangji had bought so much stuff to clean and polish it. Wei Wuxian had scrubbed the violin case and then restitched the inside of it with new soft and expensive padding. It was almost a week process that they did together. If he had to think of when they really started to bond and get along, that week was it.
Lan Wangji never bought a new violin case even if he probably needed it. He said the one he had was perfect and the red padding Wei Wuxian bought was fine.

Those golden eyes look towards Wei Wuxian before down and then back up into those grey," This one was going to ask Wei Ying to stay in his bed with him. This one also figured that; that might be too bold to ask."
no subject
“Let’s go upstairs, come on.” He holds his hand down to the other, offering to help him up. “Is your bed big enough to share with me or am I going to end up sleeping on top of you like I usually do?” He always woke up clinging to Lan Wangji tightly and his face buried in the others chest. Lan Wangji slept so straight and like the dead that it was almost like straddling a body pillow. “I’m always surprised you never throw me off and complain to your brother to get another bed.”
no subject
He gives a soft smile," The bed is big enough. It is not like the bed at Xichen's." Though, he did not mind the other being practically on top of him. "Why would I complain? Wei Ying was fine where he was."
no subject
He reaches up and pulls the ribbon and tie out of his hair, letting it fall down against his back. He folded the ribbon properly and placed it down in the box on Lan Wangji’s dresser that held another ribbon. He picked the blue cloud print one up and held it to the light to see. “Oh, this is the ribbon you wear at concerts. Mm I remember that one time you put it in my hair when I showed up looking like I’d just rolled out of bed. I had, you know.” He laughs and looks over to Lan Wangji. “Do you remember the look your Uncle had on his face when I came to return it after the concert?” He sits it back down in the box and closes it, leaning on the dresser as he faces the other.
“Yanli had taken me to that concert, she said before we even arrived that you were going to have a hissy fit and fix my hair. I guess now you’re going to be able to fix my hair before I even go to the concert.”
no subject
His eyes look down a moment before looking over at the other man," Uncle was upset. A Lan does not allow any other to touch the ribbon. Not unless they plan to date the other or marry them. Our ribbons are... special. Only meant to be touched by parent, child or spouse." Yet, he'd placed it in Wei Wuxian's hair that day as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Mn. I will be able to fix Wei Ying's hair any time that it is needed now."
no subject
“Our next concert is in a few weeks, right?” He should keep track of that, he really should. It probably annoyed Lan Wangji that he was constantly asking when the concerts were. He never practiced unless it was with the other either, and Lan Wangji was aware of that. He honestly thought that was part of the reason the other dragged him to practice with him. “I want to wear the ribbon again.” A shy smile, fondly on his face, and he moves over to the bed to sit on the edge of it.
“Does your Uncle know I’m staying?” Moving in, more like.
no subject
He gives a soft hum," Our next concert is the last day of the month." It used to bother him that the other didn't keep better track of that. However, he'd gotten to the point where he didn't mind if the other asked him about it. "Wei Ying will wear the ribbon again."
There's a slight frown at the mention of his uncle, though," Wei Ying worries too much about this one's uncle. This? Is not uncle's home. It is mine."
no subject
He settled his hands in his lap and picked at the nail polish on his hands. “You dislike Jiang Cheng but you get along with him when you need to. You like Yanli and you respect her. You dislike Uncle Jiang but not as much as you detest Madam Yu.” He glances briefly over to the other and watches him. “I think you hate Su She, especially after what happened to Bichen, but you restrain yourself a lot when it comes to him. You also think he’s terrible at the violin, and you’re not wrong.”
Su She tried hard to be Lan Wangji, which made him even worse at what the other did. He shifts till he’s sitting on the bed beside Lan Wangji, still picking at the nail polish on his hands. “He asked me out once you know, a few months ago. He seemed confused when I told him no and walked away. It was kind of funny, his dumbfounded expression.” He shakes his head and sighs. “Did you know that apart from Su She you have like an entire fan group at the school? As much as people dislike you, a lot of people like you too. The girls gossip about you in Orchestra and a few have left love letters in your locker. I—might have gotten into it and thrown them out at one point.”
no subject
He is, however, surprised that the other pays that close attention to him. No one did that. It was something that he still wasn't entirely used to. Having someone care enough to pay attention. His brother and uncle weren't in the same category as that. "Su She is a sad excuse for anything, much less being related to me." That was probably another reason why he restrains himself around the other.
Lan Wangji scrunches his nose up a bit at the idea of Su She asking Wei Wuxian out. Though, he's not surprised either. "I did not know that. I pay attention to Wei Ying. I do not pay attention to fan groups or the internet. Mn. I am not interested in girls anyway."
no subject
He closes his eyes and tucks his head down further into the other's arm and tries to will himself to sleep. It certainly wasn’t going to be easy, every time he closed his eyes he just—pictured that terrible scene in the kitchen. The cruel words Madam Yu said and what Jiang Fengmian would think when he came home to Wei Wuxian’s stuff missing or Xichen collecting it from his room. He hoped that the thing he made Lan Wangji was alright, he really wanted to give him his tea set to have tea in after school tomorrow.
School.
Huaisang already knew what happened probably, he was surprised the other wasn’t blowing his phone up. Xichen probably took Mingjue to get the stuff considering the man was terrifying. Huaisang was going to hound him for information tomorrow on what happened and he just—he didn’t want to go through that. He didn’t want to think about let alone talk about what happened.
Was he really a homewrecker? Did he make their lives that terrible by being adopted?
no subject
"I am here, Wei Ying. Remember that," he states softly. He hoped that his brother didn't have too much hassle with the Jiangs. This? He would owe his big brother a lot for this and he knew it. It was well worth it, though. Wei Wuxian would stay with him, indefinitely. Anyone had a problem with it, then they would find somewhere else to go.
