DO NOT FEED AFTER MIDNIGHT - Pet shop of Horrors Meme

PET SHOP OF HORRORS MEME
It's time for a blast from the past, y'all. Maybe you go into a mysterious shop in Chinatown selling pets and come home with something... exotic. Maybe you're the proprietor of the shop, taking care of your charges and trying to find them suiting homes. Maybe you're a police officer trying to bust an animal smuggling ring or...something. It's not quite clear. Maybe you're one of the pets for sale. Maybe, just maybe, there's a little bit of magic in that incense. Are you in for a surprise with your new pet?
• Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops.
• Reply to other people's top levels!
• Have fun!

The musing gets him to break out of his own and look over, before a very sodden Moriarty is suddenly coming closer - with the easy, loping, graceful gait the man always had.]
...
[His stare is piercing and almost unnerving as he approaches and -
....sniffs the air around Sherlock?]
...Is it...that?
[Another sniff, before he suddenly frowns.]
....Bah! This is why those ones are always such sentimental fools. Willing to sacrifice so much....even their own lives. And for what? A nosy detective who can't leave well enough alone? A waste of a life, I say.

...Sacrifice...?
[Is Moriarty implying someone had - but who...?]
no subject
[He shrugs, wiping himself off with the towel again.]
So you actually did die at those falls...not surprising, honestly. I myself had to give up a hard-earned life - I hope you don't intend on trying such a stunt again.
Still - I suppose now, we'll have to determine what to do with you...honestly, I wish I could talk to the one that gave it's life for you. Don't they know it's much harder to teach a Man how to properly remember what they've forgotten? Then again, considering your propensity for language....
no subject
[That's not the language of someone that is human or was human. Is he in the realm of the fae, an ancestor - it would explain why he's so disoriented.
Did... who had give themselves up for him? it... not a person... could it...?]

[He stands up, stalking over to Holmes - and in a flash, he lashes out with a hand, seeming like all the world as if he's slapped the man.
...Except, there are a harsh line of claw marks on sherlock's cheek....and the glinting tips of black claws poke out of the fingers of his gloves.
Moriarty looks at him, and in the light, his slitted pupils show clearly.]
Realize it now, Hound?
no subject
[He's not sure what startled him the most - the sudden slap, the trickle of blood coming down his cheek from claw marks, the feline-like gleam in the other man's eye or that very inhuman sound that came from his own throat.
Hound... hound... the shock of pain sent the word and its implications hit him like a bolt, his eyes widening as he numbly touched where he was clawed.
What Moriarty was saying... the sacrificed]
...Toby...
[Tears started to well up]
no subject
...As I said. They're foolish, aren't they? Willing to give up their lives for their humans, and even grant that human a second life through the relinquishing of their own...
[He removes his hand, and sighs.]
Feel blessed you were so loved, Holmes. A second chance like the one that you have received does not come often.
no subject
His eyes closed, silent for moments]
...A hound, I am no longer human... I wonder if Toby knew when I left.
[Sherlock fell quiet again, eyes flicking up, full of silent questions while his mind is jumbled trying to disentangle all the thoughts and feelings that came in the moment of realization]
