① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

[ a full standard cycle and some change has brought them here, to an outpost with no name on a moon with no name. ben has no other word for their stopover than junkyard.

on the surface it’s almost pretty, but it’s just the fine layer of white snow hiding deeper layers of frozen refuse. ships in varying states of dismantled and rusting radiate outward from the center of local civilization - a neon sign flickers against a dark, cloudy sky: kik’s shipbreakers & brokers - but there’s no permanent structures save the garage and its attached shanty of a cantina.

in the time it takes the rodian behind the counter to rudely explain that her operation is entirely self-serve it has begun to snow in earnest. a frustrated noise grits out from between his teeth when they step out into the cold. it is the first sound he has made since entering town.

ben wants to ignite his lightsaber and hack at something (perhaps even kik herself), though he doesn’t. in a tone that is audibly restrained, he breaks his silence further. ]

[Open to canon and crosscanon, random idea which came to mind: a localized blackout due to the snow knocks out the power at a supermarket shortly before your character/Kiryu manages to check out, it knocks out the card readers, and they don't have cash which means they can't buy dinner and if this sounds needlessly specific something like this might have happened to me before. It was the night before I moved and the final fuck you from a certain place.

There's also the walk of misery which comes from slipping, falling down a slope, and having a horrific mix of slush and snow and mud caking your ass down to your ankles, and if this also sounds needlessly specific this also happened to me once and do not recommend.

Or just some dubious snow art. Or something else. I've got ideas and can be talked into your ideas.]

He recognizes this place. It's not Dragon City, or the University, it's somewhere much older that at one point he did exist during. Being over ten-thousand years old Shen Wei had seen life, through all its years, and lived during each of them. This time though he was uncertain of the exact number of, he had seen and as such had a rough estimate of when he might be, never mind the where. Where hardly mattered. The fact he time traveled should be the most pressing matter, considering the dangers that could bring.

Especially since he doesn’t remember how that could have happened.

Shen Wei would take more time focusing on that and figuring out—but he noticed he was drawing quite the attention. Right, for the era his appearance was rather—wrong. Suits, cuffs and short hair didn’t exactly scream ‘normal’ where he was. He shifted and took a few steps back before turning around entirely and making his way through the market. At least back in these days no one wanted to get involved with strange looking men, they tended to just gossip. Which was fine with him, better than being asked questions. It also benefited him that it was the middle of the night. Not a lot of people were out to gawk but come morning, it might be a different story. He’d have to figure out a plan before that then.

At the very least if he found somewhere that he could hide for a second he could at least dawn the Black Cloak. If his name was notorious now as it was before he wasn't entirely sure, it depended on when exactly he was in the current time. Could he even go back before he was born, technically? In his head the natural laws of the world said no, but given nothing about what was happening was ‘natural’ he couldn’t say for certain. It was frustration, not understanding the situation. To many variables.

Kunlan. Was he around or—it shouldn’t matter. It wasn’t as if Shen Wei would be able to stay in this time if he was or not. Besides, if he was Shen Wei knew how that ended. It was best if he was still reincarnated and forgot him, he was happy as a mortal. Living the life he had with parents and friends. Without Shen Wei.

He was so distracted in his turmoil filled thoughts that he completely missed when someone was walking toward him. Shen Wei tried to avoid them at the last second and slipped in the wet freshly fallen snow. Reflexively he reached out to steady himself. Unfortunately the person he ran into was the same one he grabbed to keep from falling over. Long white sleeves trapped in his hand and he steadied himself, feeling quite humiliated for such a clumsy thing. Shen Wei was not a clumsy person, he knew far better.

“My apologies, I wasn’t watching where I was going.” He snatched his hand back and tucked both of them behind him, gripping his left wrist in his right hand tight enough to bruise. Their appearance—the sword as white as the falling snow strapped to their back. A cultivator then, which narrowed down the timeline more. His manners kick in a second too late and he offers the other a polite and formal bow. “I hope I didn’t harm you, my name is Shen Wei.”

The snow brought a shiver from him, freezing in his clothes not nearly meant at all for the weather around them. It didn’t seem to bother the other man in fact it seemed like he was quite used to the snow. Perhaps even out here walking around just to enjoy it. At least he could understand that, the solitude, the quite, that nights like this brought.

The Old Girl doesn't really mind snow. Well, unless she's completely buried in it. But then she doesn't like to be buried in much of anything. Her Pilot had told her to take her somewhere they could recover. Dealing with the universe of anti-time and "Zagreus" had been pretty hard on both of them, and she isn't really sure how they can reconnect.

She's still hurt and angry that the Doctor so quickly and willingly sacrificed her and she's pretty certain he's still less than pleased that she tried to kill Charley, even if it was more the anti-time than her doing it.

So, she had more or less locked Charley in a collection of rooms, so she and the Doctor could work things out without prying eyes and brought them here to R1ZJ.

On this planet, water freezes at a balmy 10℃. So one can enjoy all the delights of the snow, without the very cold temperatures. Seemed a good place to her.

Once she materialised, she turns off all the monitors, and opens the doors to show him where they are. He doesn't need to check if it's safe for him or not. She's already done that. And no matter how upset they might be with each other, she would never intentionally put him in harm's way, like on a planet that was completely unsuitable for him.

The snow was quite heavy. Thick flakes falling down around him and landing on his shoulders. It gathered in piles on his head and shoulders, wetting his white button up shirt and vest. He blinked and his lashes stuck together from the wet snow. It was the middle of the night which added to the chill in the air, the wind going through his body easily. If he was human he assumed he’d probably be freezing to death, but instead he simply shivered softly.

It should bother Shen Wei that he had no idea where he was. However he was so used to the unusual happening that he took it in stride and figured it out as he went along. Panicking did no one any good and caused more problems then fixed. There was very little that could scare Shen Wei anymore, and a situation like this was not one of those things. He simply takes a breath and lets his gaze wander around the area.

It seemed too traditional for him to have just ended up somewhere other than Dragon City. Traditional places meant a change in time rather than location. Time travel was not actually a skill of his. Teleportation was, but not time travel. Which meant something else direction interfered with him. That did make things a little more complicated and solving this might actually take more than it usually did—which tended to be Shen Wei just terrifying people as the Black Cloaked Envoy.

One thing at a time then. If he couldn’t solve this instantly he’d need to find a way to blend in first. Drawing attention to himself in what he was wearing was not a good idea, it would only terrify people.

His body shivers again and Shen Wei folds his arms across his chest, rubbing his upper arms as his gaze wanders higher. Lanterns lit up the street, some having been put out by the snow accidentally. The more he searched his eyes soon spotted a white figure sitting lazily on the railing of a bridge, sword strapped to their back and white probably for this time period was a jug of rice wine in their hand. His gaze meets theirs and Shen Wei blinks.

They didn’t have normal spiritual pressure about them. They were a cultivator that was for sure and either they were unreasonably strong or—they had already cultivated to immortality. Shen Wei didn’t deal with cultivators normally, they weren’t in his jurisdiction as Black Cloaked Envoy, so he’s certain he’s never met them before.
