[ So after a few casual encounters that made it quite clear how tense Jonathan was about their whole... situation, Dick decided it was time for some relaxation. What qualified as relaxation, though? Dragging Jonathan off to the south of France, more specifically a relatively known stretch of the Côte d'Azur. He had borrowed a villa from a certain client of his who owed him a favor; it was beachfront property and they could have a good stretch of beach to themselves.

The day was young and bright when they had arrived, so Dick suggested hitting the water. A quick change and then it was off to the shore. The water was bright blue and bound to be pleasant, with the warm sun beating down on them. He trotted across the heated sand and breathed out a small sigh of relief as his feet met the water. He continued to wade in, wondering if Jonathan was going to pull the shy routine again or join in the fun. ]

[Orihime was pretty shy when they first started dating. Oh sure, she was talkative and happy, but even the slightest incidental brush of his hand against hers would make her face burn red hot. It's taken a long time to get to this point. Which point? Well...sitting on the couch, her arms twined about Ryoji's neck, tenderly kissing the corner of his mouth as she closes her eyes.]

[At first, the idea of being away from more familiar surroundings didn't stike Jonathan as an ideal way to spend the time. No offense to the inviting company, of course. Dick was a decent guy, fun to hang around with and not in the business of comparing him to his late father -- all good qualities, but the circumstances of their...situation made for an uncomfortable experience. No, not uncomfortable. Just weird. Or maybe not weird and something else entirely.

All Jonathan knew was that he couldn't truly relax in spite of his every effort. Dick must have sensed all of that because him saying "beach in Southern France" was, apparently, the best way to make Jonathan forget he ever considered saying no.

Sure, Jonathan was still kind of...coy around him, and resigned to the fact that he probably would always be...he wasn't going to waste a holiday locked away in some villa when no more than fifty feet away was the most inviting beach he'd ever seen. And it was all his to play in.

So, just as Dick calmly waded into the water first, Jonathan took things in a different direction. He sprinted like a madman down the length of a nearby jetty and, once he got to the very end, he leapt high up into the air.

Hopefully, Dick wouldn't mind the eardrum-splitting shout. Or the big splash.]

[Dirk was pretty much always pleased to have his AU self's arms around him; he could feel all those additional years of sword practice, and while there was a small amount of envy he mostly appreciated it.
