[Now, there was a long chain of events which- actually, let's get into the chain of events, lets not gloss over those chain of events. These chain of events deserve to be examined, link by link.

So, there Kiryu had been, eating some teriyaki barbecue sauce chicken on rice (with other things) he had gotten from some food truck and deciding what he thought about it, and he was dangerously close to deciding that it was actually pretty okay, all things considered. That was when a stranger had asked him for help.

She introduced herself as something like Tina or Thyme or Tosa (at this point, Kiryu couldn't remember) and said she had needed help and she was meeting up with someone, and she needed someone to keep watch as she met with that someone and Kiryu had nothing better to do and he said sure, and some things happened along the way which made Kiryu suspect that she really was in danger, one thing led to another, and now here he was.

In a hotel hallway.

While Tina/Thyme/Tosa/other(?) and her someone had vanished inside of a room.]

[ Isn't this just typical.

The one time he gets to legitimately scoot out of work early and it starts pouring long before he's home. His jacket barely cuts it as an impromptu umbrella, and it's not long into his frantic scrambling that it becomes all too obvious he won't make it home without getting soaked down to the bone.

He needs somewhere dry, somewhere to hide out for a little while in hopes that the world's feeling merciful enough to let the rain pass...and maybe get the water out of his shoes, too.

Thankfully he's right around the shopping district when that thought strikes him. Plenty of spots to pick, and his feet take him in a b-line to the nearest one--right out front of Moel, conveniently absent of any cars or customers to keep him from leaning against a support pillar to catch his breath. Good. This'll be good enough for now.

...Asphalt's wet, though. So much for comfortably dumping out his shoes.

It’s asked in the most confused way, the word soft and perhaps not even intended to be picked up by the other less than a few inches from him, but still said. Lan Wangji had been confused when Wei Wuxian came into the Jingshi while he was doing paperwork. Still confused when he just brightly asked to see Lan Wangji’s hand and then completely baffled when pulled out a little piece of paper. He had said with that bright smile and eager look on his face that he wanted to show Lan Wangji a trick. At this point he was still waiting for the trick part.

Wei Wuxian had just shown up. Which was normal yes but he hadn’t even sent a letter to let him know he was in the area and visiting. Lan Wangji would have taken a break from all the work if he knew that the other was coming, it was a little late for that now. Not that he was going to be getting anything done at all with Wei Wuxian so close to him he was basically sitting in his lap and fighting with the paper he forced onto his hand. Both of their hands.

They were stuck together inches apart.

Lan Wangji had no idea what was going on.

“Wei Ying… I mean no offense, but your trick isn’t very… good.” He was concerned now for the other’s health. Did he even know what he was doing?
