"I'm looking for forgiveness." The way that Xue Yang was saying it, it sounded as if he was asking for directions, rather than redemption. He was looking at her, waiting for whatever she would have to tell him. "What do you need to give me that?"

He pulled his hand out of his pocket and uncurled his fingers, showing a few pieces of candy. "I can give you tw-- One of those."

Ella looked up from her gardening, a little startled by the sudden appearance of a stranger in her home. Was he a guest of her stepmother's, perhaps?

"You've never done me any harm, there is no need to ask me for forgiveness."

She gave him a confused little smile, unsure how to help though still very much wanting to.

"...if I didn't need any, why would I ask you for it?" With a roll of his eyes, he took a step back and leaned against the wall, closing his fist around the candy again. She didn't seem interested in having any and he certainly wasn't interested in sharing. "I just need forgiveness. How much worse can yours be than someone else's? So. Forgive me?"

Seemed like a simple enough question and he accompanied it with a smile.

"If you need forgiveness, perhaps you should seek out those you have wronged. It is not for me to forgive you on their behalf."

She already has a sneaking suspicion that he won't find this answer satisfactory, but it's the only one she has to give him.

"Are you dumb?" With a scoff, Xue Yang flicked his hair with how violently he shook his head. "Why would I do that? That would be way harder." If it was even possible, but that wasn't worth considering too much. He pushed the thought away and focused on her, hoping that she would finally get what he wanted and give him what he needed. "Forgive me! Nothing I did was that bad anyway, so what's it to you? It's way easier for you to forgive me than for me to find it where you want me to find it, so how about you stop being so demanding and selfish?"

Ella stands up, wiping her hands on her apron to get some of the dirt off. Rather than taking his insult to heart, she finds herself feeling sorry for him.

"If it wasn't so very bad, why would it be hard to ask for forgiveness? From those you really want forgiveness from, I mean."

"You don't even have a stake in this and look how awkward you are being. Besides, with you? I don't have to be sorry. You can just give me it." Realising that might not be entirely clear, Xue Yang paused for a moment, then explained.

"Forgiveness. Give me forgiveness. You don't have to act like it's so hard. I'll say thank you." This was turning inti a lot of work. "If people blame me for things I didn't intend, I can get forgiveness from someone I did nothing to. Right?"

She had lived so long, yet in all of her years she had never met someone quite like the princess.

Someone so hard working with little desire for reward; who cared for people lower than her so passionately that she would be willing to give her life to protect them. Hannah had thought, many times, that the woman's sacrifices were in vain. Hylians were greedy, ungrateful little things. As much as they adored their princess the demon was positive that if anything were to happen to her they would move on the moment she was replaced. And yet, Zelda persisted through all of that. A shining, beautiful soul in spite of the non-existent rewards and her incredible hardships.

Hannah had taken a job as a protector and maid because of this feeling. A feeling that she hadn't been entirely sure how to process at first considering she had never felt it before. The brush glides through Zelda's hair easily as the demon sits behind her, but it isn't long before she pauses to hold some of the locks gently in her palm.

"Your schedule for today is open, Princess. Is there a particular style that you would care for?"

It's rare that she finds her schedule open, what with there being so much to do. Idly, she wonders if Hannah is simply telling her this because she believes the princess is working too hard and perhaps is in need of a respite--to which she wouldn't disagree, but there is much work to be done that she cannot consider it, even if she truly wants to. However, if it is but an hour or two to herself, Zelda will take it, as she feels she doesn't know when such time for leisure will come again.

"A braid, wrapped around my head like a laurel crown," she says as she looks back at her reflection in the mirror. Though she is more than capable of brushing her own hair, there's something that she enjoys when someone else does it for her. Normally, when she prepares in the morning, her handmaidens getting her ready as she is dressed in her regalia, she does not spend enough time enjoying these little moments where she can take her time.

Now, as Hannah sits behind her, the princess can hear the sing-song of birds as they sit in the trees throughout the courtyard, or watch as the sun's rays peek in through the windows, bathing the room in its warm light, or feel the slight breeze as it brushes along the curtains and bringing with it the smell of fields and pastures.

"If my schedule is open, as you have said, perhaps you would like to accompany on a ride throughout the province?"

[All the intelligence he's gathered has led him here, and he's honestly on edge now that he's arrived. This abandoned looking warehouse on the edge of the city is hardly the most inventive hideout for a cult, but he supposes that useless scum can't be bothered to be creative. Nidhogg's followers come from many walks of life, after all, and that this particular sect is less organized and wealthy is not strange. Still, they clearly had the ability to get together what was needed to perform a summoning, and that was dangerous. Estinien wasn't sure if he was properly ready to face Nidhogg yet, had no real way to tell if he was strong enough, but there was no other option. He was the highest ranking priest in their order who was combat-ready, and he wasn't about to leave this in the hands of Godless mercenaries.

Scoping out the outside of the building, he notes how eerily quiet it is. There are no visible guards, no one keeping watch, and that's rather alarming. He's trying to focus his attention on the building, to get a sense for how many people are inside, but his senses point to the building having no living mortal occupants. Unless these men were exceptional at hiding their aether that meant everyone died in the summoning, which also wasn't entirely unprecedented. First time rituals often ended in unexpected loses, and a group like this attempting to call forth such a powerful demon with no real experience would surely incur extra casualties. But to lose all of them was quite a miscalculation.

A brief trip around the warehouse perimeter confirms what his senses already tell him: there are no mortals patrolling it. There is definitely a demon inside of the building though, it's aura is powerful enough that Estinien is able to sense it clearly, but something about it feels off. It doesn't feel the same as when he felt it last, years and years ago, and he's not sure if that's abnormal or not. Taking a steadying breath, he grabs his blessed lance from his back as he finally pushes into the warehouse, ready to strike anything that moves.

--except there's certainly nothing left to move inside.

The warehouse floor is littered in corpses, slit open and spilling their entrails all over the blood-slick floor. Estinien's nose wrinkles in distaste at the sight, pushing away the memories it invokes (blue eyes staring empty into his own, bright red intestines on the floor, white hair soaked in red, so small so scared and he hadn't been able to--) eyes sweeping around to find the source of the demonic aether. He finally spies the alter, a body laying upon it, looking completely relaxed despite the viscera that was all around it. Estinien points his lance at the creature, approaching it carefully, but something is wrong. It's so relaxed, wings folded up, looking bored out of its mind, and completely naked. Estinien frowns, confused, because this... this is definitely not Nidhogg, and even though this demon is strong, it's not giving off the sort of malevolence one would expect from hatred incarnate.

Estinien isn't sure what to make of that. So instead he keeps his lance trained on the demon and decides to get to it.]

You're not Nidhogg. Who are you? Did you kill all these people?

[He already knows it's unlikely he did, but maybe the demon will indulge him in some answers.]

[Awakening to a scene of absolute slaughter hadn’t been something that Aymeric had been anticipating in the slightest, and needless to say he’s a bit annoyed about the whole thing. He’d been sleeping peacefully in his temporary nest after a day of hunting when suddenly he’d felt the unmistakable pull of a summoning, something that, as an incubus, he’s grown accustomed to, but this time it had felt different from the very start. Pain, suffering, anguish, these are things not typically felt by mortals when summoning forth a creature of pure lust, and he knows before he even arrives at his destination that he’s been summoned accidentally. How or why he can’t be sure until he gets there, but he somehow doubts that it’s going to be a pretty scene.

And he’s absolutely right. The carnage at the scene is certainly horrific, dead summoners strewn all around the floor of what looks to be an abandoned warehouse, their expressions twisted in agony. One look at the sigils written in blood on the floor reveal the grave error they’d made, and Aymeric simply sighs as he stretches his wings, less than happy with the circumstances he’s found himself in. There are no living souls here, no one to seduce and feed off of, which is real shame, since he could do with a snack. On top of that the nice panties he’d gone through the trouble of buying have disappeared, now lost in the aether somewhere. He grumbles at the realization before flopping down onto the sacrificial altar with a little pout. He should quit this place, should go find an attractive, willing mortal to spend the rest of the night with, but first he should look around and see if any clothing can be salvaged from the bodies, because while he’s not shy about his nudity attracting too much attention would be bad...

It’s then that he senses it; the aura of a mortal approaching, and a rather powerful at that. One of the summoners, perhaps? Aymeric can’t be sure, but he’s definitely curious, and so he stays put in his spot on the altar as they approach, not concerned for his safety in the slightest. There’s never been a mortal he couldn’t charm, after all, even the ones who claim to be holy. Whoever this mortal is Aymeric will just seduce them and feed off their desire, and then off he’ll go back home. If he can even remember where his temporary nest is, anyway...

He looks up when the door to the warehouse opens and is greeted with the sight of an incredibly handsome man in priest robes, and immediately he’s intrigued. The man’s aura fits that of a combat-ready priest, the likes of which Aymeric is intimately familiar with, the blessing of Halone strong within him. But that certainly doesn’t make a man immune to sin, and though he’s got a lance pointed in his direction at the moment Aymeric grins a fanged grin before sitting up and slipping off the altar, his bare feet touching the blood-slicked floor below.]

‘Tis rude to ask for someone’s name without first introducing yourself, you know. And no, I did not. Wanton slaughter is not my style.

[But hmm, the priest mentioned Nidhogg, so that must be who he came here expecting to fight. What a foolish mortal. As if anyone but the highest of archdemons could stand against the might of Nidhogg and survive. Laughable. He hums in amusement at the thought before slowly approaching the priest and reaching out to trace a clawed finger along the length of the sharpened end of the lance, careful not to prick himself on the blessed steel.]

There is no need for this, you know. Clearly you came here expecting a battle, but I can promise you something much, much more satisfying.

[The air should be absolutely filled with his pheromones by now, and it won’t be long until the mortal is putty in his hands. And he’s quite a cute one, too. It almost makes up for the rather grotesque scenery surrounding them. Almost.]

[He isn't sure what sort of demon this is other than he's sure it's quite powerful. Not on the level of Nidhogg, no, but certainly more than your average, run-of-the-mill demon. Estinien keeps his guard up, lance tip pointed intently at the creature as he waits for it's answer. That grin, along with it's relaxed answer, already has him running through mental list of demon types and hierarchies, trying to settle on what this could be. It confirms that it didn't kill everyone here, something Estinien already suspected but hearing the confirmation has him humming slightly in acknowledgement.]

I've no interest in giving you my name, nor maintaining pleasantries.

[The demon is moving closer though, and Estinien keeps the lance trained on him as he does. He clearly isn't very concerned with it, confident in his powers perhaps?, if the way he traces the blessed weapon's sharp edge. He's about to tell him to back off, when the demon switches gears and instead attempts to hit on him. He blinks, brow furrowing at the naked demon, before it clicks in his head.

The pheromones that fill the air escape Estinien's notice entirely-- but it also does absolutely nothing to him. He doesn't even flinch at them, instead rolling his eyes as he re-holsters his lance on his back. Typical. An incubus. These idiots summoned a sex demon instead of death incarnate.]

An incubus. How stupid were these fools that they messed up this badly?

[Apparently he's done with the demon for now, instead stepping away and going to look around the warehouse, searching for anything that he might need to confiscate. Even if they were idiots who failed their summoning it's very likely they have books or artifacts that have real power in them, and he can't have that falling into the wrong hands. A quick glance at the sigils on the floor near the alter has him letting out a derisive snort. There's the problem right there-- a few sigils are completely wrong, a rookie mistake and one that is quite costly when attempting to summon something as powerful as Nidhogg.

But there's a collection of scrolls and books on a table nearby and he'll start sorting through it, apparently completely forgetting about the demon's presence for now.]

[The sacrifices might not have been intended for him, but they still served to power him up quite a bit, and his aura reflects that. He’s still not really built for combat, but he could hold his own against other demons if he had to. And humans specialized in combat, of course, which this one most certainly is. That lance is nothing to sneeze at, and if he were a lesser demon he might just be the tiniest bit afraid of the damage it could inflict. But he’s quite confident in his ability to seduce this priest, so he’s not worried in the slightest.

The answer gets a shrug out of him, tail swishing and curling up behind him, wings giving an excited little flap, because he kind of likes this human’s sass. Might as well enjoy it before he becomes mindless with need.]

Very well. No need for names or manners, really. I am used to keeping things casual.

[They’re just going to fuck and forget each other, after all, so it’s fine. He just needs to wait for the human to succumb to his pheromones and sweet talk and then they can get down to business.

...at least that’s what Aymeric thinks is going to happen, but it seems that his pheromones aren’t working as intended, and his eyes go wide when the mortal simply goes about his business without flinching in the slightest. At least he put his weapon away, but he should be all over Aymeric by now with how many pheromones he’s pumping out at the moment. How strange...could it be that the human is resistant to them, or even immune? But how? Surely Halone’s blessing isn’t what’s doing it...right? He’s slept with members of her order before, so why...?

He ignores the mortal’s comment about the summoners in favor of following him around the area, stepping over dead bodies and entrails when needed. He’s incredibly curious about how this priest is resisting his charms, and that means that he’s going to pester him until he finds out how he’s doing it.]

You...seem to be immune to my pheromones. But how? Some kind of ward? But I do not sense anything...how very strange.

[He doesn’t know what the human is hoping to find among the summoners’ belongings, nor does he intend on helping him, but he’s certainly not going to just leave either. Not until he gets some answers.]

Clearly you came here expecting a battle with Nidhogg, not an encounter with an incubus, so you wouldn’t have been prepared to fend me off. Hmm...intriguing.

[He’s pretty much wondering aloud at this point, but he simply can’t help it. He wonders if the human even knows that he’s immune, or if he thinks he just got lucky...hrm. He gives his wings a little flap as he leans over the table the priest is looking over, clearly being a nuisance on purpose now.]

Tell me your secrets.

[Estinien isn't even aware that the incubus is letting out pheromones, completely oblivious. He would likely guess that an incubus is going to use them at some point, of course, but he doubts they will be a problem. His oath keeps him safe from such influences, and he doesn't worry about falling under the incubus' sway. In fact he's rolling his eyes at the demon's words concerning keeping things 'casual', because he can guess exactly what he means by that. He doesn't deign to reply to him on that, instead getting to work.

The table full of tomes and scrolls has his attention for now, and he completely misses the shock that the demon is feeling right now. He doesn't care, either, honestly. Some of these tomes have higher level spells in them, and Estinien is quickly making a pile of things that he wants to take with him and setting aside the crap that he deems useless. He isn't listening to the demon as he ponders over his immunity to his pheromones, and he'd continue to ignore the creature if it didn't insist on getting into his way.

He frowns when the demon leans over the table, in the way of his work, and he reaches up to push him away with a hand to the face.]

Not interested. Go away.

[He takes the bag off his back and starts to put away the things he's deemed worth taking, shouldering it back once he's tucked all the scrolls and books away. Then he's heading over to do another scan of the room, careful to step over the viscera on the floor, wrinkling his nose in distaste at it all.]

[That eye roll confirms that this priest is having none of what Aymeric is trying to sell, somehow immune to his charms. It’s baffling, honestly, the blessing of Halone never having interfered in his efforts to seduce priests before, but maybe She looks upon this one more favorably? Perhaps he’s actually kept his oath, unlike so many others, and is being rewarded for it? Whatever the case it’s clear that Aymeric won’t be seducing him, so that snack will have to wait.

His questions go completely ignored as the priest goes about his business, and Aymeric is honestly baffled. Even without his pheromones he’s a very naked, very attractive demon, and most mortals would have a hard time resisting him. Yet right now he feels like some insignificant speck of dust that wouldn’t catch this man’s attention even if he got on all fours and presented himself, and it’s a feeling that he’s entirely unfamiliar with. Frustrating but also...thrilling? In a way, since he’s never once been rejected before. Hmm...perhaps he could think of this as a challenge of sorts...

His thoughts are suddenly interrupted when the priest pushes him away, his hand shoving his face back and making him grumble loudly. He should bite the human for his arrogance, but he’d rather not end up with a lance in his belly, so he simply licks the priest’s hand instead. What a brat.]

I am not asking you to sleep with me. I am asking you to tell me the secret to your immunity.

[He says with an annoyed huff, but the priest is already packing up and preparing to leave, much to his chagrin. Instead of following him this time Aymeric simply crosses his arms, tail flicking irritably behind him, because wow, rude.]

You’re just going to leave, then?

[Even if he does Aymeric will follow him, but in a much more subtle way. This priest is far too interesting to let slip through his fingers, after all, so he’ll resort to hiding his aura and shapeshifting if he has to in order to follow him to his next destination.]

[He's never really wondered if his own blessings from Halone would be different from any other member of the order, but She does tend to favor those who actually keep their oaths. Estinien isn't completely oblivious to the fact there's an attractive naked male form in front of him, but he has years of practice ignoring such things, and his will to stick to his oath is stronger than his will to get laid.

When the demon licks his hand, though, he flicks its nose in retaliation.]

I don't care. Does it really matter? Go find other food.

[Estinien is nearly done with his job here, and he's eyeballing a few odds and ends around the room as the demon huffs and puffs where he is. That question had him nodding though, not even looking back at the demon as he sizes up whether or not some of these trinkets actually have any potential dangers.]

Yes. I came here for Nidhogg, as you said, and an incubus doesn't concern me. You don't kill your prey or even hurt it.

[Deeming the trinkets useless junk he finally feels satisfied that he's checked everything over. He'll have to send a message to the local authorities to clean up this mess, but otherwise his part in this is over. He doesn't even give the demon a 'goodbye' as he leaves the way he came, letting out a sigh at this complete waste of a day. How ridiculous. While it's a relief that Nidhogg hasn't been summoned again, it means he's been on a wild goose chase for a week now. The sisters were going to let him have it when he reported in-- they liked harping on him when he made mistakes.

He ends up walking the entire way back to the church, wanting the time to think. Other than sending the head of their order a message on his cell phone he mostly keeps to himself the whole way, lighting up a cigarette to enjoy on his way home. Arriving at the steps on the church, he puts out his cigarette and heads inside, pushing aside the large door to slip in. Sister Heustienne greets him, a smug little smirk on her lips when he explains that no, he did not in fact find Nidhogg, and he's flipping her off with a scowl. What a brat. She laughs good-naturedly as he grumbles at her, clearly not impressed with his attitude. Regardless he's going to report to the head of their order, dropping off the scrolls and other texts he found and detailing the scene they found.

Sister Elviane takes it all as grave news and lets him know she'll report the warehouse to the proper authorities before dismissing him for the night. Estinien is glad for it, retiring to his chambers after he grabs a bite to eat from the kitchens. Putting away his gear and changing into something to sleep in, he's crawling into bed and drifting to sleep-- doubtless full of nightmares, as usual, but at least he'll likely get some rest.]
