It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they? i n s t r u c t i o n s • Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject). • Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10. • Have fun! o p t i o n s 01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet. 02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops. 03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it. 04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them... 05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. 06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help? 07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on. 08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them. 09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you. 10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario.

[Finding himself on an away mission gone awry, and stuck in Earth's past, trying not to do anything that would destroy the time line, or violate the Prime Directive, was a surprisingly easy way to make sure a certain starship captain never, ever slept.

He had no way to communicate with his ship. For all he knew, he was stranded. He didn't think they would have given up quickly, but it'd been three weeks already. Now he was standing outside the motel room he'd been in, looking up at the stars. He kept his communicator, and phaser, set to stun, on his person at all times, but did not intend to use them unless absolutely necessary.

He was about to head back inside his room, when he heard the sound of a scuffle not too far away. It sounded pretty bad. He shouldn't get involved. Regulations stated as much.

But when did Jim Kirk ever really listen to regulation?

He ran towards the sound of fighting.]

[Raven is too old to be doing this, she knows it, but it doesn't stop her from sliding out of bed and padding her way to Charles' room, her hands tucking into the sleeves of her nightgown as she tries to ignore the chill of the hallway. It was rare, but some nights she was kept awake with the memories of her childhood before she found Charles, the fears of the future, that sort of thing. Tonight she's been hit with that, only deeper in that she feels incredibly... lonely. Which she's ashamed of, of course she is - she has Charles now and he's more like family than anyone else she's ever had, but sometimes it's hard not wondering what it would have been like to have parents that didn't kick her out all those years ago because she was different.

So now she would just slip into Charles' room and pretend it was all very normal that she wanted to sleep in his room with him. Like when they were kids. Her hands still fussed with the hems of her sleeves.]

[At least there isn't the sound of glass falling to the ground or piercing the walls. The psychic glow holding it all in place helps that, and the Psiioniic sucks on his hand sullenly. Okay, so he burned himself, and it kind of caught him by surprise, and that surprise may or may not have manifested as a glass being blown up. Don't judge him.]

[And he really was trying to keep quiet! He knows that humans like Maka are apparently not nocturnal, unlike his own species. But hunger strikes, no use fighting it. So much for trying to quietly cook a meal, however...]

[Camping had never really appealed to Bucky. In theory it was nice sounding and all, but he was a city guy, and so he hadn't done a whole lot of it until he shipped out overseas, and while it was nice enough and all when the weather wasn't bad, it was freezing and raining outside, and the tent back at the army camp wasn't really doing the job in terms of keep the cold and wet out.

So, even though it was late and he was pretty damn exhausted, he just couldn't get comfortable enough to actually get any sleep. Here's hoping whatever we're doing tomorrow he can get through as a sleep deprived, potentially cranky zombie.]

[ your name is Rose Lalonde and god damn fuck it all, are you tired. every joint in your body feels like it's creaking, weary and old and rusted with centuries of unuse. logically, you know you just barely slept for the better part of two hours. it doesn't stop you from feeling like Honi the fucking Circle-Drawer and his seventy-year nap. you woke up and everything was wrong, like the world turned on its head the moment the last drop of consciousness slipped away, and now the air's too cold and you can't breathe right and the buzzing at the back of your mind has flared up to new, intolerable heights.

all you want is to go back to sleep, but you don't think you can.

you want the buzzing (hissing, clawing) to die down. you want the prickling at your fingertips to recede. you want to stop feeling like your eyes might go up in flames within your sockets, but for that to happen you need to be able to allow your eyelids to close for longer than it takes you to blink.

you are completely and utterly and painfully exhausted, but wound up far too tight to let yourself sleep. and you think you've got a solution to this.
