Not for a very long time... I didn't really understand the appeal of them, even when I was young. They're germ-infested, and there isn't a lot to do in one anyways.

[Plus mean kids kept flinging the balls at everyone! He can't even count how many times his glasses got broken thanks to that.]

[Germs... Kasuka will just be looking down and staring at the balls as if they're gigantic bacteria come to life.

It's not that he's afraid, or worried. It's more like... the look you might give if you spotted a tiny stain on a T-shirt that you just put on.]

Yeah, it's pretty gross, anyways. I've been looking for the exit, but it seems this ball pit is bigger than most.

Ah, that's a good idea, Kasuka-kun!

[Without waiting for a prompt, he picks Kasuka up from under his arms, placing him up on his shoulders and holding him steady until he gets a grip.]

Too adorbs. This is enough to keep your dad from ever cutting him open, right? ... Shinra??

[Kasuka is just fine with being picked up, standing on Shinra's shoulders and leaning on Shinra's head a little before he finds his footing. And then he'll just let go and stand there. Sometimes fear would be a good thing, Kasuka.

So this is him looking around. And looking around some more. He doesn't really feel the urge to say anything.]

...A-At least I won't cut you open?

[But then how is Shinra supposed to know if there's a way out? He waits a few minutes, waiting impatiently, before just sighing and breaking the silence.]

Do you see anything yet?

FINE, fine he actually pays attention to possible exits now.]

[Just wading through the ball pit now. Kasuka can stay on his shoulders, since Shinra knows he likes it up there.]

It's fine! I'm slow with Kasuka, myself. Sometimes he cooperates, sometimes he doesn't.

[Well, as long as he's... sort of happy. Shinra keeps swimming along, eventually calling up to the boy perched above him.]

Kasuka will just be pointing again, as if that will speed things up.]

I'm now imagining Dramatic Lemur, except with Dramatic Kasuka.

Or maybe he's just looking where he's going as he climbs down, because he's totally going to try and get off your shoulders now.]

[He lifts the little boy up and sticks him back in the ball pit, only slightly grossed out.]

Ah, I should have expected that. Shizuo never did learn how to stay out of trouble-

[He pauses and gives Kasuka a bit of a confused look. For a kid that's so straight-faced, he seems to have a lot of emotions.]

You're worried about him, aren't you?

Shizuo breaks everything.

[Yeaaah, Kasuka is still working on getting rid of those pesky emotions. Not that it's ever going to work, but he's already doing a pretty decent job not showing them. In a few years, he'll have distanced himself from them enough that he wouldn't recognize them if they threw a vending machine into his incredibly pretty face.]

It's not good to fight. People get hurt.

[And if it sounds like he sympathizes with Shizuo's victims... nope. Really, Shizuo is the only one he's really worried about.]

So what would happen if he tried to break something that was already broken?

No, it isn't good, is it? There's an unfortunate amount of fighting going on in Ikebukuro.

[Well, Shinra doesn't blame Kasuka for being single-minded when it came to that. The older man is the same. He wouldn't even notice the battles being waged if Celty wasn't involved in them.]

It gets broken on a sub-atomic level!

[Yeah, Kasuka doesn't know about anything that Shizuo isn't involved in... but then, that still puts him in the front row for all the most epic battles.]

People don't like niisan.

[It's a statement. It's also, almost, a question. Kasuka understands, sort of, that people are afraid of Shizuo. But why would that be enough to make Shizuo a total outcast?]
