[Yup, even a little kid feels like he weighs a lot if you have to carry him a long time.]

... Nope, it's more like a playcastle-type gate in the middle of the ball pit. D'oh!]

Ah, Kasuka-kun... I don't think this is to get out of the ball pit. There's just more of the same on the other side.

[And he had been so hopeful too... Shinra sighs heavily.]

[Oh. Well... It was the only door that he could see! Kasuka lowers his head a little. Maybe he's feeling bad.

Or maybe he's just looking where he's going as he climbs down, because he's totally going to try and get off your shoulders now.]

Oh? Sorry, Kasuka-kun, I'll let you down.

[He lifts the little boy up and sticks him back in the ball pit, only slightly grossed out.]

((I'm good with dropping whenever you are, though, since they're pretty much stuck here forever.))

[And Kasuka will just be looking around again. If you have no idea what to do: observe! That's how he gets around.]

[Shinra's got nothing else to do besides keep an eye on him, though he does occasionally try to ask a few questions.]

Have you seen anyone else you know in here? Maybe Shizuo-kun?

[Again. It shouldn't even be a big deal anymore, though Kasuka still doesn't like it.]

Ah, I should have expected that. Shizuo never did learn how to stay out of trouble-

[He pauses and gives Kasuka a bit of a confused look. For a kid that's so straight-faced, he seems to have a lot of emotions.]

You're worried about him, aren't you?

[Yeaaah, Kasuka is still working on getting rid of those pesky emotions. Not that it's ever going to work, but he's already doing a pretty decent job not showing them. In a few years, he'll have distanced himself from them enough that he wouldn't recognize them if they threw a vending machine into his incredibly pretty face.]

It's not good to fight. People get hurt.

[And if it sounds like he sympathizes with Shizuo's victims... nope. Really, Shizuo is the only one he's really worried about.]

No, it isn't good, is it? There's an unfortunate amount of fighting going on in Ikebukuro.

[Well, Shinra doesn't blame Kasuka for being single-minded when it came to that. The older man is the same. He wouldn't even notice the battles being waged if Celty wasn't involved in them.]

[Yeah, Kasuka doesn't know about anything that Shizuo isn't involved in... but then, that still puts him in the front row for all the most epic battles.]

People don't like niisan.

[It's a statement. It's also, almost, a question. Kasuka understands, sort of, that people are afraid of Shizuo. But why would that be enough to make Shizuo a total outcast?]

Well, maybe most of them don't, but the people who matter do. You still like him, and I like him, and he's made more friends as he's grown up.

[So he's not as much of an outsider anymore, though Shinra doesn't know if that will reassure Kasuka, seeing as it only gets fixed after many years.]

[Oh? Congratulations, Shinra. You've managed to get the kid looking surprised. Shizuo having friends. That's -...

Well, it's hopeful.]

[Shinra laughs a bit and reaches out to ruffle the kid's hair.]

See? You don't have to worry so much about him. He'll get better.
