The Jail Cell Meme

You are now trapped in a jail cell. You may or may not know why or how you got inside of it; having been teleported into one due to the fickle whims of a resident deity is just as acceptable as getting arrested. (Maybe because of this?) You also might be innocent. If you're innocent and confused then it really sucks to be you.

You have company. Their circumstances might be the same or different from your own. But you're stuck together for a while.

What do you guys do?

Well, I'm glad that you see where you went wrong. [ he walks to the other side, leaning his back against the wall ]

Were it me as emperor, I would have probably done the same. But keeping you all this long is a bit much...

[ David follows the voice, eyes now able to track thanks to the other's close proximity. He does shift his wrists now that he sees the other's back is turned, just as a simple test of his bonds. ]

We do not seek expansion, your emperor should not fear our presence in his state. Military training is taught only as a means of defense; we would not instigate any battle knowingly.

That is good to hear, however, I'm not the one you should be saying this to.

And yet you are the one he sent to his captives in his place. If he does not trust with the weight of the cell between us, I cannot see him granting us an audience.

[ Again, he has to weigh the decision. While he is parched, he must remain vigilant. There are too many factors here, too many chances that either the food or water would be poisoned. Still, the idea does sound appealing and the way he sucks in his lower lip in an attempt to wet it only attests to this. ... But he can practically hear Torgal in his head, telling him what to do. ]

I'm afraid not. Thank you, however, for offering us food and water despite the accusations placed on our heads.

...I never said that I trusted that fool at all. I am only doing what I have been ordered to do, then whatever I please. [ he scoffs ]

[ His brow worries. ] ... Is it really so wise, speaking ill of your emperor? He seems to have a heavy hand.

As long as he doesn't hear me, I could care less.

[ He looks past his captor for now, though it's to no real avail. Dark and all that. How do you fish for information without being completely obvious? ]

There is no one else here besides us.

[lorddavid]

And so the others are with my men.

[ It's a simple deduction to make; he doubts they'd be able to subdue Blocter without sheer manpower. That isn't even taking into account that Torgal and Emmy are also there.

The guard mentioned execution and the yama would surely fight back in an attempt to get to him. In turn, Rush would stand in to protect Irina.

David closes his eyes and moves to wet his lips again. ]

... I'm aware that I am in no position to ask for favors. Still, if you are willing, would you please inform the others to listen to Torgal? The name should be enough to assure them that the order came from me. ... I'm afraid that I carry overzealous companions and aside from myself, Torgal is the only one capable of reigning them in.

Hmm...

I will see what I can do. [ he walks off for a moment ]

[lorddavid]

[ The young lord sighs, taking a moment of reprieve. He could attempt to bolt but the consequences would be dire where they may have just been slackened by their cooperation. So instead, David stays where he is and waits for the guards return, head bowed. ]

[ Hui comes back, looking at David through the bars ] I suppose that they're listening to him.

[ At the news, a hint of a smile tugs at David's lips. ]

Thank you. And... perhaps I will take up your offer on water.
