the last night.
dusk has fallen, and your nerves are on fire.
you are not looking forward to tomorrow, for whatever reason - perhaps you're in the ending stages of war and the final battle is imminent, perhaps you'll be leaving for an extended period of time, perhaps you're set to go into a risky surgery. whatever's going to happen, it could be the very last night you have, whether it's in this city, in this dimension, in this life. how are you going to spend it? will you say your goodbyes to your loved ones, spend time reminiscing, or just go about your everyday life and try not to think about it?
the choice is yours, but you'd better make it soon. you don't have much time left.
instructions →
1. post with your character.
2. tag others.
3. spend your last night wisely.

You're right, I've said it before. I still mean it.

They don't end up breaking the record, and that's mostly because he takes his sweet time the second to last time and they simply run out of time, really. But that's fine, really because he's not really in a record breaking kind of mood. It's more about making some memories to last him a few months until he forgets her.
Like he actually will. Jim is in that strange place between wishing she wasn't leaving and glad that she is because it's less messy that way. That was part of why he was being quiet, as he ran a towel over his wet hair. And he's horrible with saying goodbyes.]

Her damp blond curls are tied in a ponytail and she has her undergarments and skirt on as Jim dries his hair from their shower together. She's rubbing moisturizer on her face when she notices how quiet he is. Glancing at him from the mirror;] Something wrong?
no subject
What makes you ask?
no subject
You're too quiet. And you look like I just took away your favourite toy. [Well, she's not, but Starfleet and circumstances are. Carol looks down to wash her hands.]

It sucks that you're so brilliant, that's all.
no subject
I'm thinking the same thing about you.

I had my job first.

[Jim's kind of made it clear that he wanted nothing but that, and she's alright with that. Sometimes one has to grab happiness from what they got, and being with Jim and having him touch her was good for her. The reality of long-time separation is breaking that, and Carol's just trying to reestablish the boundaries that Jim himself set. She likes him a lot, but this is what it is.]
no subject
I know. [He rubs his hair one last time and tosses the towel off to the side. It's a hotel, someone else will clean it up and get paid to do it.]
You have time for breakfast?"

His invitation surprises her, and she looks at him like he just grew a second head. It's odd that he's prolonging the inevitable because she's heard stories about him and she's made her little observations about him too. Jim Kirk doesn't seem like the type of guy to take a woman out to breakfast after a night of sex. He doesn't even seem like the type of guy to say goodbye afterwards.
In any case, Carol smiles at him, warmly. She's covered the bags underneath her eyes with eye-shadow, and she was putting on her lip-stick when he asked. She just needs to put her shirt and boots on and she's ready.]
For you Jim, I have all the time in the world. [Actually, she has an hour and a half for him, but she's going to make them count.]
no subject
Kirk smiles at her, and moves to get his shirt and his pants from the other room.]
There's a place around here that I've always been told to try but never had the chance.
no subject
Carol's not thinking that though. She's too concerned with quickly putting her shirt and boots on, and going to breakfast.]
Oh, what kind of food do they serve there? [She leans against the door frame, adjusting her shirt and the collar.]
no subject
The Andorian equivalent of an English breakfast. It intrigues me.
no subject
Oh, that sounds amazing. There was an Andorian engineer on the Eagle and he always said that Andorian food is a thousand times better than the food on the ship.
no subject
Lots of food is better than ship food. That's hardly fair.
no subject
Ah, but he didn't have any taste-buds. So, it's like a Klingon roaring about how "unwarrior-like" a toy shop is.

What time do you really have to be at the shuttle?
