TYPES OF SCENES
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Sex → First times, kinks, even dubcon are all possible themes of sex related scenarios.
⑦ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!

ACTION.
① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!
② Bar brawl → You had one too many drinks, said something wrong, and now you're being asked to take it outside.
③ Chase → You're caught in a high speed chase.

⑯ Apocalypse → The apocalypse finally happened and now you're left to scavenge and fight for whatever is left.
⑰ Sabotage → It's time to sabotage someone's plan! How is entirely up to you. Do you set up a bomb in their toilet? Do you double cross them at the last minute?
⑱ Big damn hero → You know you have to handle this one alone, so that means disarming or knocking unconscious the person who wants to join you.
⑲ Fight club → You know the rules... you're in an underground fighting ring and you're fighting with all you've got.
⑳ Threaten → You've just been sent here to rough them up a little, threaten them into behaving.

ANGST.
① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.
② Last moments → You character has been gravely injured and this is their last chance to say their last words.
③ Depression → Your character is depressed, what actions they take is up to the mun.
④ Betrayed → You character has been betrayed by the other. How do they react?
⑤ Tortured → Your character is being tortured and needs rescuing or at least a sympathetic ear to help him through it.
⑥ Jealousy → Your character is feeling jealous and must deal with it, how will they do it?
⑦ Breakup! → This relationship has gone as far as it can, it's time to breakup.
⑧ Broken → For whatever reason, the character is broken, mentally or or physically.
⑨ Fight → You can't even be in the same room as your friend or lover without arguing anymore.
⑩ Lost → You lost the biggest fight of your life and now all you can do is try to pick up the pieces.
⑪ Worst nightmare → Whatever you fear the most is now real or maybe you're just trapped in a dream together, but whatever it is, it feels too real.
⑫ Addicted → You're addicted to something, alcohol, drugs, sex, whatever. It's destroying your life and you can't do anything to stop it.
⑬ Hurt you → You're being forced to hurt someone you love either by betraying them or even being forced to shout things you don't mean. It's for their own good in the end though.
⑭ Separation → You were forced to leave this person for their own safety and while you've been miserable without them, you really didn't mean to run into them again... maybe it was by accident or you were watching them from afar this whole time.
⑮ Becoming a monster → You are slowly changing, becoming a monster: vampire, zombie, demon, something you can't recover from and no-one can help you.
⑯ Frozen → You are entirely helpless, frozen, to stop some kind of disaster.
⑰ Prison → You were very bad and now it's time to pay the price by turning yourself in or maybe the law just finally caught up to you.
⑱ Fear → You're not sure why, but you are suddenly terrified and you can't deal with it. You need help.
⑲ Hated → You are now hated by the person you loved the most.
⑳ Down and out → You're living on the streets, you've hit rock bottom, and you don't know what to do.

CRACK.
① Sexswap → Uh-oh, you're suddenly the opposite sex!
② Forced confessions → No matter what it is and no matter how hard you resist, you're going to be compelled to spill some deep dark secret!
③ Mind-reading → You've suddenly got the ability to read minds!

③ Lost → You're lost and you kind of need help finding your way to where you're going. A little help with directions?
④ Costume party → You're at a costume party, both of you are wearing masks. Do you keep the anonymity or take it off and see whose company you've been enjoying?
⑤ Wrong number → Oops, actually you didn't mean to call that person...
⑥ Drunk → You're already drunk! Drunk dialing, stumbling into someone, showing up unexpected... what type of drunk are you anyway? Aggressive, loving, happy? How does the other react?

Okay, the whole mandrake went in with an uncerimonious plop and a bit of a splash. Regulus was back to reading the instructions, because he'd already forgotten what came next. And then he gave himself a panic because-

"Wait! how many seconds was that?"

Lily sighed, "six, seven, eight, nine, turn off the heat now." At least one of them was trying to keep him from failure.

Regulus shot Lily a dark look as he turned off the heat. He was here because he was shite at this. In his opinion, the sass was uncalled for. You know, if you took this out of the context of his bigotry. Which he did. The privilege of being pureblood was that he didn't have to consider his status when it was inconvenient for him to do so.

But he didn't say anything else about that. He just asked, "Okay, so... wait thirty minutes?" Oh, Merlin's tits! What were they going to do for a half an hour?

"Have a nice cup of tea? Play a bit of chess?" She was already settling into a chair, pulling her bag closer to look for a book or a bit of homework to distract her and ensure they would keep the small talk to a minimum, to both of their benefits. "You don't have to stay here all that time, I'll keep an eye on things."

Regulus made a face. But he took a cue from Lily and dragged open his own bag, pulling out a tome of arithmancy, a scroll and a quill. And in painfully precise penmaniship, started working on equations and charts. This was really the subject he shined in. All the exact numbers just made sense even when variables were hard to solve.

After completing one chart, he looked over at that cauldron that was, in his opinion, doing nothing.

"Has it been a half an hour yet?" It had not been a half an hour yet.

Lily looked up from the star chart she had been focused on completing, shifting in her seat to better peer inside the cauldron. "Not quite. Another ten minutes I'd say." She turned back to her work, pausing to glance at his. "You're really quite good at Arthimancy I've heard."

Regulus resisted the urge to flop back in his chair. Why did this process have to also be so time consuming?

"Ya," Regulus said, hesitant at first. But his mind quickly processed the subject for traps and not finding any, he continued. "I like numbers and they're fun, like, they're puzzles. And... you know, my mother doesn't hate it so I can continue to take it after O.W.L.s." Which meant it was something he could invest his time and energy into without any push back.

At the mention of his mother Lily just nodded. She'd heard the Howler Regulus had received just like everyone else in the school. "I like that it's quiet work, Arithmancy I mean." Turning back towards the cauldron Lily rose from her chair to stride over and have a look inside. "This looks good Regulus."

He let the scroll roll back up and shoved it and the book aside to look at the cauldron.

Okay, the instructions say three sprigs- easy enough, he counted out the three sprigs and tossed them in and turned back to the instructions. And then panicked again-

"Shite!" Because now he had to stir, in a specific direction. He grabbed his wand and, still in a rush, paused none the less becauses he had to think what clockwise meant. And he almost started stirring the wrong way, but he made the right choice in the end.

"Okay, then what?"

"Four times clockwise and then the salamander blood, then stir five times counter-clockwise." She stayed by the cauldron, mindful of getting too close to either it or him but close enough to be able to read the recipe.

The fire seeds were coming up, and Lily was no looking forward to the likelihood of disaster arriving right on their heels.

A half hour of nothing and then suddenly all this action he wasn't used to. Nevermind that described about every Quidditch match from his perspective as a seeker, but he knew what he was looking for on the pitch. Here, just completely flummoxed.

"So five drops of Salamander blood and then stir four times- no, wait," he caught himself, half reading, half paying attention to the cauldron. "Two times."

Okay, he did that. And again, almost tripped up the direction of the stirring.

As he was stirring he read the start of the last bit - okay four fire seeds, which he grabbed all at once and when he was done with the stirring, he tossed in all the seeds. All at once. At the same time.

"Yes! Done!" he said a bit prematurely.

Of course, he was not done.

The potion turned a sinister shade of black and emitted a thick red smoke making Lily fan her hands around in front of her face as she backed up.

"You needed to add them one at a time Regulus!" She managed through coughs.

"What? No I-" Regulus was coughing, too. A clear sign he shouldn't try to deny that he'd messed up. But he reached for the instructions. And after reading through all of the last step it dawned on him.

"Oh."

He backed away, pulling the collar of his robe up over his mouth.

"But I almost made it!"

Lily reached for a book, waving it in front of them both in an effort to fan the smoke away her cheeks going a bit red as she coughed. "Are you going to throw this out or are we going to smother to death?" There was nothing toxic about the potion, but he needed to get rid of it. She would fan that book forever instead of cleaning up his mess for him.

Regulus would have sighed if it wouldn't have filled his lungs with this stuff, because the scourgify charm was one he was very practiced at using on a foul-filled cauldron. Soon they were left with just the smoke dicispating in the air.

"So," Regulus said, still coughing a bit, looking a bit defeated. "Um... When do we try again?"

As annoying as this was his question surprised her. She had expected much more complaining and frustrated groaning - that he instead asked about next time struck her as almost admirable.

"Right now if you're up for it. I don't have a class until later in the day tomorrow. We should absolutely get tea if we do though."

Fear was a powerful motivator for Regulus. His mother had been dead serious, and it wasn't just about the broomstick. The broom was a sort of freedom, fun from the dreariness that lived in Number Twelve Grimmauld Place. But it wasn't the real threat. Walburga's bite was as bad as her bark. He had to improve his grade and acheive at least an A on his O.W.L. or he might as well just not go home when the school term ended.

Oh, he wouldn't be kicked out, like Sirius had been last summer. But Regulus didn't want to think about what alternatives his mother would think up.

That, above everything, was at the heart of his motivation.

So he nodded quietly and started setting things up again. At least maybe this time he'd remember all the steps.

The shift in him was remarkable and Lily suspected the fear of losing his broom or otherwise having to deal with the woman on the other end of that howler had a good deal to do with it. "You don't need to grind anymore bicorn but you should anyway, just to get the practice of the motion down."

"Just remember to read the recipe a few times before you start, I think that helps a lot."

Regulus nodded, mullified by his failure and the dawning realization that this was almost insurmountable problem. Each minute that passed just drilled into him more how serious his situation was.

He really didn't have anything to say and just got to grinding more bicorn. He didn't see the point to have extra, but he'd reached a point of 'do what he was told' because he didn't have an argument otherwise.

Then he read through the instructions again, this time all the way through.

"Okay, I guess... we- I can start again."

"Do you want to get some tea? We can take the recipe and read it over a few times between the two of us on the way." She didn't really need to, but that he was so willing to listen to her made her want to be somewhat more encouraging.

The sooner he figured out Potions the better off they would both be, far away from one another.

Regulus nodded and just assumed they were going to the kitchens. Where else were they going to get tea? Glumly, Regulus walk mostly in silence, lost in his own thoughts for the most part.

For them, from their current location in the castle, they had to go up a few flights of stairs until they reached the level under the Great Hall. At the right painting he tickled the pear and it turned into a knob.

At the very least, the scene before them was cheerful and energetic. House elves were treated rather well at Hogwarts as far as treatment for House elves went- they all acted like this was the greatest work in the world.

Almost immediately, they were greeted with happy elves willing to pause their work to come say hello. This was not out of the ordinary for Regulus' experience in the Kitchens, he just said hello back to the elves greeting them, even addressing them by name.

When the chorus toned down, and they could finally say anything other than a greeting, Regulus asked, "Is there any tea available?" If he was more polite than usual, well, he didn't comment on it. Again, this was very par for the course for him in the Kitchen.

She read the piece of parchment with the recipe on it a few times before handing it off to Regulus, content to walk in silence and have him lead the way towards the kitchens.

Though she had been a few times in the past the sight of the pear still amused Lily, smirking a bit as Regulus tickled it and turned the knob it became to grant them access into the kitchens of Hogwarts.

What followed was another surprise for Lily as she witnessed the warm reception he received upon entering, hanging back just a half a step behind him as they trailed through the kitchen and he greeted the elves there. "Didn't think you were the sort to come down here that much." That he was kind to the elves was not lost on her, but for the moment Lily wasn't going to pry.

"Huh?" Regulus said, tearing his attention away from a few elves who'd started bringing over trays of snacks for them.

"Why not? It's where the extra food is." Obviously. Where did Lily go when she got hungry after dinner?

Lily had never considered the kitchens as anywhere she ought to be, so she hadn't ever gone save for when it had been needed. Usually to fetch tea or a snack for Slughorn or something to that end.

"I suppose I ought to look into extra food more often," she looked at the trays the elves had begun to bring over, thanking them as they approached before tenatively taking a pastry off of one.

Regulus took a few biscuits from one tray, and an apple from the other, which he put in his pocket for later.

"Thank you, Tinky. Thank you, Poppy." And then he did something that was probably the most unusual so far, he touched their shoulders as they passed them by.

And as if he'd done nothing unusual, he turned to Lily and said in a low voice, "If you come down here more, you have to be care because..." his voice got lower. "They get jealous if it seems like you favor one over the others." And he said it in such a dead serious tone, it sounded as if he was speaking from experience.
