The Find a New Ship Meme

One of the best parts about RP is finding ships you never knew you wanted. But sometimes it's hard finding exactly what you want, especially when you don't know the other canon (if it's crossover interaction) OR the other mun. Well, this meme takes away the pressure and biases brought around by unfamiliar names or icons. It strips shipping down to what it should be about: chemistry.

There are two ways to play on this meme. The first is the OOC route. The second is a more challenging, but perhaps more fun, route of having your character fill out a personal's ad. The best part? It's all anon at the start.

- Pick whether you want to fill out the OOC form or the IC form.
- For the IC version, feel free to assume your character was forced into it.
- Comment anonymously.
- Reply to others if you have a character who fits what they're looking for. You can stay anon for a few comments, but then you can pull a BIG REVEAL.
- For the OOC version, you can just offer your character. For the IC version, you might even want to "play" a bit before you un-anon.
- This is catered more towards crossover ships, but don't let that stop you if you want to do something canon. Also, friend"ships" are fine, too.
- If you both agree that it would be an interesting combination to play out, feel free to take it to another meme or play a scene here.

And mine is Dark Mercury/Ami from the live-action Sailor Moon version.

As normal Ami, she was very clingy and insecure and quite literally obsessed with Usagi to the point of admitting she hated Usagi's other friends and wanted Usagi to herself even though she knew that was unfair and irrational. Darkury isn't much different, just a different angle: she tells the other villains she'll hurt them if they touch Usagi because she is going to be the one to handle her.

She does quite well charming the class (and brainwashing them) in this form, so she can come off cheerful and friendly. Then you get to her fighting and the manic glee of attacking her former friends. Oops.

The 'justified' murder is from an AU this one became after learning some of the PGSM plot twists at the wrong time in RP (dunno how much you care about spoilers).

I'm actually pretty familiar with the SM series, although I admit to not having seen the live-action version as of yet. I'm fine with spoilers, so if need be, spoil away!

Nanako here has taken quite a lot of abuse in her canon (being bullied, threatened, drowned, sexually and emotionally manipulated, nearly stabbed, ect), and if she thinks that dark!Ami's actions were committed unwillingly (ie she thinks she was controlled or brainwashed or drugged or something) she will likely excuse her actions and just try to help her all the more. If Ami is very clear that she's hurting her just for the sake of it, she'll likely avoid her. Though naturally, Nanako prefers not to have conflict and will mostly try to keep Ami happy.

Usagi is the one who destroyed the world, and will destroy it again, in PGSM. So, it's easy to spin all the fighting and hate into seeming justified.

I think it'd be kind of cute for her to get attached to Nanako despite herself, honestly. XD Though see all the above; it may not be healthy. It would be very jealous, possessive, etc.

Jealous, possessive, unhealthy relationships is exactly what I'm looking for for her! would you like to start a thread here or wait until a suitable meme pops up?

Nanako doesn't need to be brainwashed to fawn over Ami, she fawns over pretty women in general. Since you don't have any objections, I can start the thread in the next comment, unless you'd like to.

[Mizuno Ami. It was hard not to notice her. Although she was neither athletic like Kaoru-n-kimi, nor handsome and charismatic like St. Juste, her incredible intelligence and personable attitude drew Nanako to her. Although a few whispered that she was too studious, and someone as supposedly mousy as her would never get a place in the Sorority, that didn't matter to her. She knew, she was sure, that they could be friends.

So she approached her during the free study period, peering over her English textbook to the girl an aisle away from her.]

You're...Mizuno Ami-san, aren't you? It's nice to meet you, I'm Misonoo Nanako.

[She didn't feel the need to mention that she was the daughter of a famous university professor, nor that she was part of the highly prestigious Sorority. Unlike others, she never felt entitled to respect.]

[Oh, that's all long past, and it makes her love every minute of school even more, with the girls crowding around her, gushing over her for this reason or that, sharing their lunches together, all a big happy group just like she always wanted. No more reputation as a snobby princess or a weird genius. No more fear that the only reason they approach her is for her wealthy background or her famous doctor mother. They adore her.

So instead of a cold look, she greets Nanako with a smile that's just a bit too large, but quite pleased with herself.]

Nice to meet you! Were you studying hard?

I do try to study my hardest, most of the time at least, unless something important comes up.

Although, I'm sure it's nothing compared to your scores. They're very impressive! Full marks on French and English, although, French is the most difficult language for me...

[She continues on in this vein, talking about mundane and unimportant things, which really aren't that interesting at all. In fact, in takes her a moment to register that she may be coming across as overenthusiastic, and her cheeks color when she realizes her voice must sound awfully loud.]

This isn't bothering you, is it? If I'm distracting you, we can talk after class, or...

It's natural. I intend to study abroad some day. I'll need those language skills to be successful. [As if it's that easy: determination, and results.]

Don't worry! Since it's free study right now, I'm ahead enough to be able to spare some time.

[Studying abroad? At their age? The fact that she could think of her future in such concrete terms made her all the more admirable, and her career choice was a very mature one. Nanako isn't even sure what she wants to follow as a career, but the medical field seems all too daunting, even to a complete bystander.]

Really? Then...u-um, do you have a favorite class? I think I'm rather good at Home Economics, or at least Mariko-san says so, although people have been switching the salt for sugar lately, so it's trickier than you'd think.

[Again, she rambles on about the most boring things. She remembers to lower her voice again, surprised at her own eagerness to get to know the girl.]

[Her cram school teacher once told her in no uncertain terms that she was ready for medical school level work already. The only question left...

is whether to leave here. Right now, she doesn't have the sailor senshi holding her back, but she's not eager to leave the comfortable situation she's made for herself, either.]

My favorite is math. It's a stepping stone to medical school; many require it or prefer a strong mathematical background.

[It feels so normal to be talking like this. She wants it.]

[Well, she can't say mathematics is her favorite subject, but she nods along anyway. Perhaps choosing classes as a topic was a rather bland choice... Still, the fact that Ami keeps talking is encouraging.]

Are they any clubs that you like? I'm part of the Flower Arrangement Club, and the Literature Club--I think either one could suit you. If you aren't a part of any others, that is; I'm sure you must be busy with your work.

I belong to the computer club. I've also thought about the chess club and swimming club. However, literature club sounds very interesting.

[Maybe this hadn't been such a good idea after all. Ami is driven and focused, while she is still fluttering from one thing to another, unable to stay on a single hobby or club for very long.

Still, she clings to the thin thread of interest between them, hoping that she'll be able to open up even more. Conversation doesn't come naturally on the first try, she reminds herself.]

We examine all sorts of works. Sometimes plays, or poetry, or plain stories. Right now, we're going over de Sade's works. It's...interesting, but also a little gruesome, too.

[She gives her a bright smile, but she can't help but think that Ami would, in fact, be better suited to the Literature Club than she. Nanako is only a fairly average student, after all. The only reason she's gotten so far is because of tutoring and the help of her friends. Compared to Ami, she sticks out awkwardly.]

I'll join if it's interesting. Shall we go to meet the head of the club?

[As if she needs an introduction; but things should be done properly, after all.]

You mean...Miya-sama? [that is more difficult to do. Miya-sama, Ichinomiya Fukiko, one of the Magnificent Three and Head of the Sorority cannot simply open up her schedule to whoever wants to see her.

But neither does she want to dash Ami's hopes. Maybe, she could ask in her nicest, most polite tone after classes, and the older girl might listen. She did seem to have a soft spot for her, so maybe this wouldn't be too much trouble at all... Maybe.]

I...I'll have to ask. She's rather busy most of the time, but I'm sure she can make time for you, considering your reputation.

Oh, she'll make time. [Ami's thrown away that girl no one had time for. They all want her, now. She's impossible to miss.]

After all, I might consider entering her club. Don't you think she'll want to pay attention to that? [Her smile is far too bright to be natural.]

...Of course, I'm sure she will. [She hadn't expected that slightly stubborn side to Ami, and her insistence takes her aback. Surely, Miya-sama will appreciate a brilliant mind in her club. Everything will turn out just fine.]

This may be none of my business, but do you have anything planned after class? There's a short break after this, and I was wondering...

[Ami will make sure of it. She finally has the power to get what she always wanted: people surrounding her, just like this.]

After class? Everyone will be there. [It's a deliberately ambiguous answer: I'm important; I might make time for you.]

[Her reply causes the words to catch in her throat; maybe she assumed too much? Maybe she sounded too forwrd? Maybe she has other plans. Yes, of course she does. She must be so very, very busy.

Of course she wouldn't have time to spend with a plain girl like her.]

I...I'm sorry, I just thought...

It's fine, anyway. I haven't talked with Tomoko in a while, so I can just meet with her, instead. I didn't mean to sound presumptuous.

[Oh, Nanako. You're supposed to chase her. Ami tilts her head, apparently in good humor anyway.]
