Ah, but risks are oftentimes what make the chances worth taking in the first place! And don't forget, Shakespeare wrote plenty of lighthearted comedies with perfectly happy endings as well as all of those deeply moving tragedies of his! I can't imagine a character like myself existing in ANYthing but an spawlingly epic comedy with the happiest of happy endings!

They've only just met after all, and if he'd hide things from Mikado, even if it was for his own good, he'd certainly hide things from a near-stranger.
