FORMAL OR INFORMAL, WITH MUSIC OR WITHOUT, YOU COULD BE AT A GLAMOUROUS GALA WHILE A SINGER CROONS SOFTLY OR IN THE SILENCE OF YOUR OWN LIVING ROOM. WHEREVER YOU ARE, YOU HAVE THE URGE TO DANCE. DID YOU ASK YOUR PARTNER OR DID THEY ASK YOU? HAVE YOU GOT TWO LEFT FEET OR IS THE VIENNESE WALTZ YOUR JAM? IT COULD BE AWKWARD, IT COULD BE ROMANTIC. EITHER WAY IT'S CUTE AS HELL.
SHE HAS SOME SELF-RESTRAINT /huffs
Being who she is, if there's a way to protect someone, especially someone she cares about, Jill jumps at the chance
sometimes literally-- even if it means sacrificing something with regards to herself. She doesn't want to be around Sync, to be subjected to whatever abuse he'll try to throw out this time -- especially on a night like this where she doesn't want and shouldn't have to deal with any of this kind of crap.
But.
She's still unchanged, but she's stopped looking around the area; her gaze is fixed somewhere, not really seeing as she considers. Even if she went and found Luke before Sync could (and, what? Chaperoned him for the rest of the evening?), he's not the only person Jill calls a friend, and Sync knows that. If she walks away now, she wouldn't put it past the brat to take it out on several people, if he could find that many, just so she'd have to live with knowing that she could have prevented it.
Some people -- Chris, Tifa -- she wouldn't worry about. Others, though...]
I hope one song will be enough. [She finally looks over her shoulder at him -- there's no real anger in her eyes, just something hard, grim, and like she's steeling herself for something unpleasant.] After that, my dance card's full.
no subject
Watching her steadily through that lengthy pause only makes his smirk grow even wider, because even if she has her poker face on, he knows what she must be thinking--that she can't risk what he'd do to Luke, or Ion, or Nill, or any of the less-combact-oriented family friends who are out and about tonight. That she has no choice but to accept his offer, because keeping him in sight is the only real way to keep the others safe.]
We'll start with one song. After that, we'll see.
[Unless that dance card is filled up by Wesker (which is v. unlikely for many reasons), Sync is gonna do what he wants, Jill.]
BTW I don't think this falls under the "cute" requirement in the meme summary, Sync B[
Au contraire--you can't deny that it is indeed "cute as HELL". BD
that I don't have the iconspace forthat would probably look rather pleasant to an outsider, anyone who doesn't actually know Sync or what he's capable of, he holds his out as well...but he doesn't quite take her hand. Nope, he's going to make her place her hand in his.And if she doesn't...well now, you wouldn't want him to get bored and have to go find some other means of entertainment, now, would you?]
ONLY "HELL" APPLIES AND THAT DOES NOT COUNT
Visibly annoyed and only just refraining from rolling her eyes, she concedes and takes his hand, loosely.
And wanting to get this over as fast as humanly possible, she tugs him lightly after her as she heads for the dance floor.]
Does too count! I doubt Hell is very cute, so my point still stands!
Why the rush all of a sudden? We have all night, after all.
[Wouldn't that be wonderful, if he trolled you like this all night. BD]
idk how many times I've PFFFT'd you today, but PFFFFFFFT
no
she has a social life
particularly with at least a couple people he doesn't know about, and she'd like to keep it that way by being rid of him as quickly as possible. B[
There's a held-back sigh in her tight tone.] You said you wanted a dance, Sync, so work with me here. I have a hard time believing you enjoy my company to begin with.
Then my work here is done! (...Except not really, LET'S SEE HOW MANY MORE PFFTs I CAN GET >8D)
I said dance with me.
[One green eyebrow quirks upwards just slightly as they reach the dance floor and take up the usual waltz position; his grip on her hand might still be a bit tight, and his hand rests on her hip in a manner that is decidedly controlling, not sexual, but otherwise, it's a normal enough stance
for now.]You're the one who said you hoped one song would be enough. And I said we'd see.
[His other eyebrow joins the first as he gives a condescending sigh.]
Did you really forget all of that already?
...oh, dear... |D;
She doesn't frown, flinch, or otherwise give any sign of discomfort, even if instinct is screaming at her that he shouldn't be allowed to be this close -- she just puts her free hand lightly on his shoulder, although it could be interpreted as defensive in nature.]
I'm finding it hard to.
[/so. Flat.
And that's all he's getting because so not keen on starting up a conversation.]
>]
Haven't forgotten that kiss, have you~ BDYou know Sync; he loves to test those boundaries, but he's definitely not stupid about knowing how far he can push her. Besides, he doesn't really have any interest in her (or anyone else) in *that* way
thank heaven for small mercies, right?.He holds her close, but not too close, nothing beyond what's well within the usual boundaries for a closed hold stance; and while he's not the best dancer, the waltz is very simple and he's a fast learner, and watching other people dance for an hour or so has given him plenty of material to try out, should he so choose.]
And yet you did make a valiant effort. I'd expect nothing less of you--you just can't ever resist a lost cause, can you?
[And he'll do his damnedest to drag some conversation out of her, one way or another.]
no subject
She tries to. So hard.Meanwhile, Jill's giving him as little attention as possible, instead glancing idly around the room.]
Y'know, considering how much you hate people and being around them, I'm surprised you'd even bother showing up in a place like this. Let alone find a reason for staying.
[YUP ignoring his commentary completely]
no subject
Yeah...good luck with that. B]His grip on her hand and her hip might be slowly tightening in response, but otherwise he remains seemingly unruffled by that inattention.]
Haven't you figured it out yet? Just this is reason enough.
[And Sync will demonstrate the primary reason that you should never be inattentive around him: you never know quite what he's going to do, and it's probably not something pleasant.
If she'd been watching him more closely, Jill might've noticed the way he's been carefully maneuvering them to the very centre of the dance floor; and once they're there, in one smooth motion he'll shrug her hand off his shoulder as he suddenly pivots them into a dip--and then lets go of her.
...icon keywords apply, perhaps? X'D]no subject
So rather than trying to grab onto him, she just braces herself for the short fall as best she can manage -- which still lands her hard on her elbow, prompting a startled snarl of pain that's all but inaudible under the blaring music. Her legs instantly retract towards herself, partly an effort to keep herself decent in her short skirt, but Sync may or may not notice the way she seems to catch herself as one twitches towards him; she narrowly dodges the irritated reflex to kick the ever-loving crap out of him.
And yeah, naturally there are at least two dozen eyes on her right about now, but Jill just gives a dismissive wave as she quickly stands up again, ignoring the urge to nurse what's probably going to be a bruise later. There's no blush, no flustered avoidance of eye contact, just a Yeah I'm okay flash of a smile at those closest to her, followed by a flat look when her gaze settles on Sync again.
And hoping that that's the worst he's going to do tonight, she abruptly turns -- this time with a clear roll of her eyes -- to leave the floor.]
no subject
Looks like you were right--one dance was enough. You're too boring to be worth the time.
[Sync turns the opposite way, tapping a finger to his chin pensively and 'thinking' aloud:]
...Now, where's that replica...
no subject
She doesn't turn right away, but when she does, her expression's an annoyed but consceding one.]
Wait.
no subject
I'd really rather not. I have a tight schedule to keep, after all.
[Moving away now, heading towards the cluster of refreshment tables--was that a flash of red hair he saw?]
no subject
What, Sync? Disappointed I didn't run off to the restroom, crying about how you embarrassed me for life?
[hahaha yeah
no]
no subject
Not at all. In fact, so far you've reacted exactly like I thought you would.
[Make of that what you will.]
no subject
She shoots him a glance, still keeping up, and then gives a quiet snort, not really caring if he hears her next.]
You must really be lacking in things to do on a Saturday night.
no subject
That must be true for you too, then. You do realise that we're in the same place at the same time.
[And they're both looking for entertainment...just in decidedly different ways. B]
...I *just* now realized you're using a different journal. this is what early mornings do to me.
Yeah, you were definitely the one I was picturing myself with when I came here. [Again, it's low -- this time mostly to herself.
Then, louder,] How about doing us both a favor: save it for another day. [It... was meant to come out as a (sarcastic) suggestion, but it ends up sounding like an order.]
Well, this *was* my Sync's LJ name, so you're used to it? (I just needed more iconspace, CRAI. lol)
..Ooh, trying to order me around now, are you?
[Congratulations, you've just ensured that you'll have Sync lurking at least semi-nearby all night. BD Not enough for you to keep your eye on him 100% of the time, either; just enough that you'll catch glimpses of him out of the corner of your eye when you least expect (or want) to see him.
He turns his head--not his body, just his head, just enough to catch her eyes with one if his.]
Too bad you don't have any authority to do that.
[Turning his head away, he starts forward again, though the smug smirk he's doubtless wearing is clearly audible in his tone.]
I'll be seeing you...or morelike, you'll be seeing me.
ah, true
NOPE, she's just gonna head back to the apartment (after making sure he's not desperate enough for entertainment that he'll follow her) and maybe... read a book or smth. B|
So that doesn't get a response as she turns to head the other way.]
