THE (summer) FIGHT MEME



What else needs to be said? Release your inner warrior and partake in some epic (or hilariously bad) battles! Do you use a sword? Are you a martial arts master? Are you a wizard? Can you even fight?

It doesn't matter if you're just having a friendly spar or deciding the fate of the universe. You're suddenly filled with the urge to fight the next person you meet. Cut loose and show off your skills!

There's an audience to watch and a prize at stake that only one of you can walk away with. Best bring your A-game.

5: SPARRING
You're fighting to improve. Whether you know your partner or whether you've
just met, you can be pretty sure you're walking away from this one.

Your hated rival is in town. It's time for a rematch.

7: BAR FIGHT
Welcome to the mother of all drunken brawls.

8: YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS!
Maybe your opponent is your friend/sibling/love/other cherished person. Maybe

[Yamato hadn't intended to get dragged into this Inter-School MMA Competition, but one of his school's team had been forced to drop out, and after a few weeks of pleading and offers to pay him with food, he'd reluctantly relented and taken the guy's slot.

Right now, after three matches, their schools were drawing, with one win for one school, one win for the other, and one draw. No pressure, then.

Yamato climbs into the ring, dressed down in a pair of blue shorts, rolling out his shoulders as he waits.]

[Ohhhhh he was gonna kill Akihiko for this.]

[Minato was not a person who screamed "boxing" or "martial artist" at first glance. Yes he could hold himself well in a hand to hand combat fight but he was much better with swords... And fighting Shadows, not people.

But Akihiko had pushed himself too hard in Tartarus, and had practically begged Minato to fill in for him in this prizefighting competition, and he couldn't just say no like some kind of asshole, so here he was, dressed down to fighting shorts and going up against some random person from the other school. Whoever won would win the prize.]

[Jeez, no pressure.]

[He climbs into the ring as well, sizing up his foe. Minato himself is not very imposing, he's quite short and thin-looking, but there's visible muscle from fighting for his life. This will be an interesting day.]

[Yamato had been told, when he'd first agreed to this, that he'd be going up against Akihiko Sanada. It looks like Akihiko had needed someone to sub in for him as well, because this guy definitely isn't him.

Well, not like Yamato could complain, not when he was also subbing in. He'd just offer the other boy a wry look, silently communicating 'You too, huh?'

Then the bell is ringing, signalling them to start, and Yamato starts forward at a cautious pace, circling a little. He's not making any moves to attack just yet.]

[He gave the other boy a wry smile. He didn't look like the kind of person that would be at Akihiko's skill level. Did the other school have to sub someone in too? Their prize-winning match depended entirely on two people who did not do this often. He wasn't sure if he was frustrated or happy at his luck.]

[The bell rang. His opponent is moving forwards and circling, and Minato decides to treat this like any other battle... Though, any other battle he'd have Fuuka calling weaknesses in his ear. Still. Treat the enemy like an enemy. It's a solid enough strategy.]

[He circles at the same pace, opposite direction, stance slightly low and eyes focused before he takes a quick, experimental jab]

[Yamato leans out of the way of that jab, flashing a quick grin. Easing a half-step around Minato, he throws an experimental jab of his own, just probing at the other boy's defences.

It surprises him a little how much the audience seems to be on tenterhooks, waiting with baited breath for one of them to see an opening and seize the advantage.

He tries to tune it out. Last thing he needs right now is to be thinking about how the audience feels about all of this.]

[He ducks back, fluid and fast, still on the quiet defensive. Both of them are a little too careful, it seems... Not that Minato wants to throw caution to the wind, now isn't the time to get cocky, he would not be able to handle Akihiko's face if he lost.]

[They're still circling, like lions, careful, thoughtful. Minato's eyes scan him slow and steady, like he's considering every joint and movement, before he starts forwards in a quick motion, intending to cause a defensive reaction he can exploit with another blow.]

[It works like a charm. Yamato, still being cautious, moves back a step as Minato moves in, ducking to one side fast to try and get out of the way of where he thinks the blow is coming from.]

[Perfect]

[He strikes hard with other hand, a rough punch to the side of the face and the crowd gasps as Minato shifts his weight, preparing for some kind of counter]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato's moving straight into that punch, and it slams against his face hard enough to snap it around, sending him reeling backwards, taking two steps towards the corner of the ring, dazed.

He throws a punch of his own, a heavy blow aimed at Minato's chin, but he's dazed enough that it's wild and uncoordinated.]

[The punch isn't perfectly dodged, he underestimated Yamato's speed, and the punch clips the side of his chin and he hisses as his teeth clash together painfully. He shifts his entire body weight to try and drive a punch into the square of his opponent's lower back]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato sucks in a sharp breath as that punch lands against his lower back, driving the air out of his lungs and leaving him reeling back another step towards the corner.

He tries to rally, snapping a kick up and towards Minato's leg.]

[a stagger, he stumbles back several feet, knee stinging, he's been thrown off a bit and re-enters a defensive stance]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato goes on the attack, trying to regain lost ground as he advances on Minato, throwing a jab at his guard before ducking down to swing at his ribs.]

[The hit to his ribs is rough and painful and he grits his teeth, pushing through the pain to get in a hard jab to Yamato's ribs and stomach in response. He needs to get back on the offensive]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato grunts, forced back on the offensive, taking a step back. He tries to turn into a kick, lifting his leg to bring it scything towards Minato's side.]

[He slams himself into the floor and rolls to the side and back to his feet, breathless, aiming a kick at his side]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato blocks with one arm, sliding onto his back foot, throwing a light jab at Minato's nose with his other hand.]

[arcanauniverse]

[He arcs his back so the punch only grazes his nose and twists to send a punch into the side of his face]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato's slammed backwards, into the corner, dazed and off balance. He can recognise what a bad spot to be in that is, so he tries to dart to one side, aiming to get around Minato and out of the corner.]

[Oh no you don't. He tries to tackle him to the ground to punch.]

[harmonica_guy]

[Yamato catches Minato by the arms, keeping his footing even as he's shoved back into the corner, and clinches with him, attempting to manoeuvre them both away from the corner.]

[arcanauniverse]

[He staggers as he tries to fight him before letting him guide, trying to look for some kind if opening]

[harmonica_guy]

[He gets one when Yamato eventually gets them far enough from the corner to feel comfortable breaking the clinch, letting go and hauling back to throw a punch at his jaw.]
