Nature is no respecter of persons, my friends. Whether it be childhood friends, newlyweds, or one-night stands, a single decision or accident can change everything, and there will be three people instead of just two.

Congratulations! The characters in these threads and those who reply to them are now expecting babies, no matter what their unique situation may be. Of course, depending on the characters, this might go over like a lead balloon. But wait! Even if the decision to have a baby was made and was consensual, the process is no walk in the park. There is lots to do...and only nine months to do it. Nine potentially drama-filled months.

[ Dabi just glares. Of course Hawks had to put it in the shittiest way and make it sound like he actually did something wrong. But he didn't, and apparently even after that big show of slamming him against the wall and nicking his kneck, Hawks knows he didn't actually hurt the kid either.

What he doesn't expect is to be invited to stay for dinner... and watch the kid while he leaves?? Dabi narrows his eyes. ]

You want me to watch the baby? After all'a that, you actually trust me enough to leave him alone with me?

[ It all feels like whiplash. But Dabi does look down at Fushi, then sighs hard, rubbing his forehead as he turns back toward the two of them completely, then heads back over to the playpen. ]

Can I pick him up?

Look I know it's weird and no....I don't trust you alone with him.

[ Hawks grabs some ice from the freezer, putting it in a ziplock back from the cupboard before looking over to watch Dabi.

From what he is he can see Fushi is reaching up at Dabi with wide eyes and a toothless grin. ]

Go ahead, you already held him before. Just....stay out of sight while I handle her, yeah? You can go into the bedroom at the end of the hall. I'll tell her I put him down for a nap or something.

[ Dabi narrows his eyes even harder when Hawks says he doesn't trust him alone with Fushi, and yet he's going to leave him alone with him anyway. ]

What kinda bullshit is that?

[ He knows he should just walk out right now. He doesn't need this shit from Hawks and he shouldn't have to deal with it. He should grab the hero by the neck and remind him who the fuck he's talking to.

But there's a baby reaching out for him, and Dabi knows he's a fool for giving into it. It doesn't matter if he hurt the baby or not, or if he was only sitting here playing with him instead of doing whatever the fuck it is Hawks doesn't trust him with. Hawks won't change his mind either way.

He hates how he feels. Hurt. It's harder to shut the feeling down when he picks Fushi up, resting him against his chest. ]

Come on, kid. Gonna teach ya how to commit murder in the bedroom while your dad plays hero.

[ He says sarcastically. Seriously, what the fuck does Hawks think he's gonna do to the kid? If he wanted him dead he would have killed him already. ]

[ Seeing the narrowed eyes Hawks just shrugs as a feather floats over towards the two to land on Fushi's head, balancing there before drifting down to tickle his face and land neatly between the two. He doesn't want to admit how much he wants to trust Dabi with the child. He shouldn't want to. Fushi is his...and yes he's Dabi's but the villain doesn't know that. All he knows is that the kid is the son of a villain. Even if he doesn't think Dabi will hurt him, which at this point he all but knows for a fact he won't, the man could disappear with the baby and that would hurt Hawks.

Still there's something in his chest that twists when he watches Dabi pick up their child. He never thought he would want a family and least of all with one of the A-lister villains but here he was. Wishing for a different life. Maybe one where there weren't heroes and villains...where Dabi was just an asshole and not a murderer. Even with a righteous cause as he seemed to think he had...murder was still murder...right? ]

I only have to play hero because someone just had to knock the poor babysitter out.

[ He can't help but find it at least a little funny.

Dabi had come and broke into his place to see what was going on with Fushi and had apparently knocked the poor woman out in the process. Rolling his eyes he moved to shoo the two further down the hall, waiting until they were out of sight before opening the closet and kneeling in front of the woman who was still knocked out. Reaching out he checked her breathing, checked her eyes, and finally set the ice down to instead reach out and lift the woman up. She groaned as her head fell against his shoulder and Hawks had to sigh. He'd have to give her extra money for this...as well as find a new babysitter.

Dabi was right...she had opened the door too easily. He was a pro hero he couldn't have someone watching his secret child who was just going to open the door whenever someone knocked. The next one was going to get a lecture before they even saw the child.

Rolling his shoulders a bit he shifted the woman in his arms before grabbing the ice to place on a rather impressive bump on her head before heading towards the door. Time to get her to a hospital to have her checked over and then he was going to come home and try to cook something for dinner.

Just a normal day as a hero....sort of.

Meanwhile in his room with Dabi Fushi cooed and reached up to grab at Dabi's face again, little wings beating wildly behind him as he giggled and squirmed. ]

The babysitter was rude. She was about to slam the door in my face.

[ He says as if she was the one at fault here. Though he still thinks Hawks should be thanking him for finding a kink in his plan of keeping the baby safe. He'll try it with the next babysitter too and see how that goes. In a way, he's like a build in security system, right?

Hah.

Dabi can't believe this is how he's spending his night, but... when it comes down to it, it was his choice. He wanted to be here to see Fushi and now he's getting it. He bounces him a bit, then gives Hawks a look as he passes him to go into the bedroom all the way down the hall. He closes the door for some privacy and glances around the bedroom. Even for a safehouse it's really nice. Figures.

He looks down at the baby when he grabs at his face and smirks, reaching out to press at his nose. ]

Why do ya like me so much, huh? Your dad's gonna think I did somethin' to ya for real.

[ Those little wings are beating so wildly and Dabi realizes just how tiny and fragile they are, with soft tufts of feathers. It's such a striking white and for a moment it reminds him of something else. Someone else. He can't help but reach out and run his fingers over the feathers, sitting down on the bed. ]

Fire and wings don't mix, Fushi. Some day I'm sure you're dad's gonna teach ya that.

[ Lulling his head with the press to his nose Fushi seems to giggle as his hands move to grip at that finger and pull it closer to his mouth. He was determined to put Dabi's finger in his mouth and his grip was as strong as a babies tends to be what with not knowing the meaning of restraint.

Off on his way to the hospital Hawks had to come up with a story to explain where he found the woman...as well as talk with her once she woke up.

Speaking of waking, the woman stirred mid flight, thank whatever was above that Hawks didn't drop her as she struggled and screamed. He had to land, setting her down gently with a bright smile. ]

Mr. Hawks! The bab-

He's fine, at home fast asleep. The man who broke in just took a couple things nothing too bad.

[ Robbery was a better excuse rather than...someone breaking in to see a baby. Mentally rolling his eyes Hawks just gave her a reassuring smile. He talked with her a bit longer, explaining the story they would have to give before easily picking her up and heading off to the Hospital once more.

As usual he was greeted as a hero at the hospital, everyone thinking he had saved the woman from something and it was hard for him to smile and nod. After all it was his fault she was hurt. It was his son she was watching. With a grin and a small salute Hawks took to the air once more to head home. Checking in on the feather he couldn't help the grin on his face changing, becoming more genuine, as he 'heard' Dabi with their son. The more he experienced the more he wanted to tell the man the truth.

But he couldn't.

Could he?

No. No he couldn't. that was something neither of them needed, no matter how much part of him wanted to just break down and tell the man the truth.

Landing at home Hawks cracked his neck as he walked in, locking the door behind him before heading to the kitchen. Standing there for a long moment he realized...he didn't know what sort of things Dabi liked to eat. He had asked the man to stay for dinner it was only right he make something he'd actually like. Why did this feel like it mattered so much? It didn't make sense. Frowning into the fridge he stared for a while before concentrating on the feather that was in the room with them. He would wait until there was enough silence before he used it to first tickle at Fushi's face making the baby laugh, before doing something similar but not quite as gentle to Dabi and pulling the feather back towards the door. Hopefully coaxing the man out. ]

[ Dabi heard Hawks leave and for a moment he can't believe that after all this shit, Hawks really just left a baby with him. How does he know Dabi is good with kids? He really doesn't. No directions, instructions, emergency numbers or anything. Dabi would be appalled... if that's the kind of guy he was. The kinda guy who cared about anything.

Dabi feels like scolding Hawks, but that would be a completely backwards shitshow, and he doesn't really want to go through all that. ]

Your dad sucks at this, ya know that?

[ He mutters to Fushi, letting the baby snag his finger tightly and bring it to his mouth. He pulls back at it, pretty much playing tug-o-war with his finger.]

Whoa, hey... hey. Wait up, nugget. Ya can't just go stickin' dirty things in your mouth. Come on.

[ The coast is clear anyway so Hawks looks around, finding the bathroom before he heads inside. He looks around, then grabs a fluffy towel and places it in the tub before putting Fushi down on it so he can wash his hands properly. When he's done, he picks him back up against his chest and gives him his finger. ]

There ya go. Chew on that.

[ Dabi decides to snoop around a little while he's here, cause why not. It's a safehouse so there isn't much, but he still wants to see what Hawks keeps here. He also lets Fushi play with whatever they come across because it's good if the kid is curious. Dabi sure isn't going to stop him.

after a while he heads back into the bedroom and lays back on the bed, laying Fushi on his chest and playing with his hands. He knows he shouldn't be around kids and he knows this is completely insane, but he's drawn to this kid for some reason, and as soon as he saw Fushi, he reminded him of things he left behind... he hasn't decided if that's good or bad yet.

Eventually Fushi falls asleep on his chest and as tempting as it is to follow, Dabi keeps himself awake and watches him, moving his hand over his head over and over again. Dabi hears the door opening up again, but he doesn't want to get up just yet. When the feathers come toward them, Dabi, shoos it away before it can wake the baby and then pushes it away from his face too. ]

[ Whenever Dabi gave Fushi something different it was met with a giggle, save for maybe a time or so where he would shift, fuss a little, and push the thing away. Many times he would go back to trying to grab for Dabi's face and when the other lays down it seems it's a mix of the warmth and the sound of Dabi's heartbeat that lulls the small child to sleep. The feather touching him makes him scrunch up his little nose and make soft unhappy noises. Apparently he doesn't want to get up.

When his prompting goes ignored Hawks sighs and makes his way down the hall and to his room, rounding the corner. ]

Dabi wha-

[ He stops and stares at the scene he's met with. Dabi sprawled out on his bed like he owns it, a sight he isn't too unused to seeing even if it's been a while, with Fushi curled up on his chest snoozing peacefully. He bites his tongue and for a moment he feels his heart jump into his throat.

A life where this could be the norm. Hawks making dinner while Dabi played with Fushi or let the child nap on him.

It hurt and it hurt even more knowing that it wasn't something that was possible.

Not with Dabi.

Not with Hawks.

But god did he suddenly wish it were. He had never thought he would want something like that in his life...and now here he was. Taking a step back he shifted to almost duck behind the door frame. He stared for a moment longer, caught Dabi's gaze, and instead shook his head and made his way back to the kitchen.

He'd figure something out on his own.

Rummaging around the kitchen he finds the things to make a simple dinner of yakisoba and set about cooking it up. Not perfectly from scratch obviously, he wasn't that good, but it would be better than instant. He has to stop as he moves to slice up cabbage because he realizes...he's shaking. Setting the knife down he leans on the counter and runs a hand through his hair and mutters to himself. ]

What are you going to do Hawks...you can't tell him...you can't.

[ Dabi likes this kid. He's fussy- which is good, he should get what he wants- but not too fussy. He's more cheerful rather than being a crybaby... and he seems to really like Dabi for some reason. He just sees Dabi as another person around him now, wanting to hold him and play with him.

Dabi wonders how that's gonna turn out if the kid ever gets a chance of growing up. If Dabi is still alive then, Fushi would probably be turned against him just like all the other heroes and their kids.

He wonders if Hawks is gonna listen to him about sending Fushi someway away. Not too far away, but far enough away from this bullshit. Maybe then, the kid will still like him when he sees him. He doubts it, though.

When Hawks feathers keep tickling at him once he gets home, Dabi wants to yell out to him to cut it out, but he doesn't want to wake the baby either. Eventually Hawks comes to the door though, but when Dabi look up at him, he's got this weird look on his face that Dabi can't quite decipher.... and then he darts away. ]

Hawks...

[ Dabi calls out, but Hawks is already gone and Fushi stirs against his chest. He supposes he should go out there anyway and give the baby back so he can get out of here. He sure as hell isn't going to stay for dinner. That seems like one step too weird for whatever the hell is going on with them right now. Sighing, he sits up slowly, Fushi still rested against his chest sleeping as he holds him. He slides off the bed carefully and goes in search of Hawks, who he finds in the kitchen. ]

Hey.

[ When Dabi gets up and moves Fushi whimpers again in his sleep, almost on the verge of waking but after shifting and putting his small fat fists over his eyes and burying his face in Dabi's chest, he quiets and drifts off again.

When Dabi makes it to the kitchen Hawks is muttering to himself and only quiets when he hears Dabi get closer. He manages not to let the other sneak up on him and just tosses a familiar grin over his shoulder. It's his mask...that one he uses with the other heroes and the public. ]

Oh hey, look who's up. Figured it might wake him up if you came out so I just started up some Yakisoba.

[ His eyes linger on Fushi for a moment before he looks back up at Dabi. He knows he shouldn't be so friendly, knows he shouldn't be so relaxed with Dabi holding his son, their son. His son. But he can't help it, just looking at them he knows Dabi won't hurt him. ]

You didn't have to get up, I can let you know when dinner will be done...shouldn't take too long.

[ It's pretty amazing how this kid just settles in his arms. Dabi knows it's probably all because of how warm he is. He really has nothing else to offer the kid. He knows why Hawks doesn't want the baby around him, of course. But it still bothers him, especially when he's taking care of him just fine.

Dabi doesn't know Hawks well enough to know his masks. He just sees this obnoxious second rate hero... who looks good naked and moaning his name. And who has a baby that's currently drooling on him. ]

He's still asleep.

[ Dabi glances down just to make sure and yup... still drooling away with his eyes closed. ]

I ain't stayin'.

[ Yakisoba though... his favorite. He hasn't had it in a while and he looks at Hawks a bit suspiciously as if the other man dug around in his head to figure that out. ]

Where's his room, I'll put him down.

Looks like it.

[ Hawks can't help it when his smile softens looking down at the boy in Dabi's arms. The feathers that were bothering the other man retreat and nestle in to the base of Dabi's wings making them shudder slightly. Of course it's Dabi mentioning that he's not staying that gets a bit more of a visible response from Hawks. He blinks up rather owlishly and doesn't realize how his wings seem to droop slightly. ]

Oh...damn....I just put the noodles in too.

[ Shifting he made to stare down at the cabbage on the cutting board. He had shredded enough for two people...even he wouldn't be able to eat that much. Why did he care though? Why had he just started making enough for two anyways?

Because he was lonely....and Fushi seemed to like Dabi. Even if Hawks knew he shouldn't do it, shouldn't let the man be there and get close to their son.

God he wanted to tear out his own hair at this point. So many shoulds and shouldn'ts that he doesn't want to listen to but knows he should.

Putting the knife down on the cutting board as he moved to dip and grab a different pan Hawks motioned towards the hall. ]

The nursery is across the hall from my room, one door down.

You can stay if you want...there's gonna be more than enough. Maybe a...'thank you for testing my babysitter even if you did knock her out and give her a concussion'?

[ Dabi can't help the way his eyes narrow just a bit when Hawks gets visibly droopy. What the hell? He can't imagine Hawks would want to sit and eat a meal with him... let alone include him in what he's cooking up. ]

Yeah, well...

[ Dabi doesn't care. He really doesn't. He did what he came here to do, and he's not about to cozy up to the number two hero again, especially when they broke things off- or whatever it is when two people just fuck to pass the time and get off on each other do. ]

I ain't gonna stay, Hawks. Don't need no thank you's, or anythin' from you except the info you're supposed to give us. Don't fuck around with me.

[ Dabi wants to say it more firmly, but there's a baby sleeping on his chest so it comes out more soft... more... desperate in a way. Deep down maybe it is. Why be nice to him and give him this shit if he's just gonna end up trying to kill Dabi anyway?

He turns and goes back toward the bedrooms, finding Fushi's room. Putting the back of his hand on his little head, Dabi detaches the baby from his chest to lay him down in his crib. ]

[ Hawks is silent as Dabi talks to him and it's not untilthe man is already down the hall that he lets his eyes close adn let's out a long sigh. ]

He's right Hawks...you aren't friends. Stop that.

Get it out of your head.

[ Shaking himself he huffs and goes back to cooking. Draining noodles and tossing them into a dry pan with some of the yakisoba sauce and tossing in the cabbage before tossing it all together in the pan.

In Fushi's as Dabi makes to set Fushi in his crib the boys face scrunches up, soft whimpers turning to cries as he wakes up. His source of warmth is leaving him and he doesn't like it. He makes grabs at Dabi's shirt with small fists and cries. He's not wailing but it's loud enough that Hawks can hear the din of it over his cooking. Fushi fusses and kicks out, shaking his fists as he cries.

Good job Dabi. ]

[ dabi pauses in putting the baby down as soon as he starts whimpering. he curses under his breath and expects hawks to come running down the hall to see what he's done, or accuse him of hurting his kind somehow. ]

Come on, baby... shhh.

[ normally he'd get angry at something like this, but...how can he be? Fushi is actually trying to grab at him as he cries, and dabi lets out a small sound of frustration before he put him down completely. ]

Stop cryin' I gotta go. Calm the fuck down, come on.

[ maybe he should pick the kid back up again. he glances toward the door, then back at the kid, trying to decide what to do. ]

You're as fuckin' obnoxious as your dad, ya know that?

[ When he's finally put completely down and he can't actually grip onto Dabi, that's when the crying really starts. He's loud and fat tears roll down his cheeks as he cries, turning red in the face.

Out in the kitchen Hawks takes the food off the heat and sets it aside before heading down the hall. His feathers go out searching for various things, a binkie here a blankie there...his favorite stuffed toy. When Hawks made it to the nursery he was met by the various items and the sight of Dabi trying to quiet the boy. ]

Sounds like someone wasn't ready to be put down yet.

[ Ducking around Dabi he moves to lift up Fushi, making hushing sounds as he bounced the boy. The tears quieted some but the boy shifted in his dads arms and reached instead of Dabi. ]

Come on little eyas...Dabi is leaving and you need to sleep so daddy can eat.

[ Dabi winces at how loud Fushi gets. He really does have a good set of lungs on him. Dabi also hates to see it. He doesn't give a shit about pretty much anything, but it bothers him that this kid is crying so much just because he got put down instead of being held.

Dabi gets it. He'd hate it too. Having some warmth and then having it snatched away... it sucks.

He's ready to reach down to pick Fushi up again when Hawks comes in and ducks around him to pick him up. He's ready to be blamed for it, but luckily Hawks' attention is only on the baby. He stops wailing, at least, but he's still red in the face with large tears running down his face, reaching for Dabi.

He knows it's only cause he runs hot, but his insides still twist. He really needs to leave. This isn't his place and it never will be. He's a villain, not some... caretaker, or some shit.]

Fuck... just... fine, fuck it. Just give him to me and we'll eat dinner. Like ya said, you owe me.

[ Hawks bounces the baby a couple more times before looking at Dabi. ]

I know Fushi...

[ Looking up at Dabi he blinks at the other mans hands before shrugging. He doesn't want to seem like he's happy that the other was going to stay. He shouldn't be. No matter how lonely he is...or how much he actually misses the others company.

He hadn't been lying when he had told Dabi earlier that he wouldn't mind a warm body in his bed. It'd been months.

Mentally shaking himself from his thoughts he hands the crying baby over to Dabi who immediately nestles into the others chest, hiccuping. ]

Aw, I feel like I should be jealous two fold. He gets nice warm arms to cuddle into and he rather snuggle with you than his dad.

[ Dabi takes Fushi back from Hawks and he should gloat about how quickly the baby stops crying to nestle into his chest, but... he's not in the mood right now. He's feeling... he's not sure what he's feeling. He's annoying that he's feeling anything at all. He had shut that part of him off ages ago.

But this little baby with snow white hair that reminds him of... his brother? His mother? It all just tugs at him.

Dabi slides his warm hand up and down Fushi's back for extra comfort, bouncing him a little.]

Get a heating pad, he won't even know the difference. It ain't even me he likes, it's the heat.

[ Dabi would hate seeing that... but he knows it's probably the truth. ]

Hm, yeah maybe...

[ He almost mentions that he has one in his room but instead bites his tongue and shrugs as he makes to leave the room and head back to the kitchen. He bites back the smile that threatens to pull at his lips when he catches how Fushi sniffs and whimpers but still quiets considerably.

Instead he focuses instead on the smell of the food in the kitchen that reminds him that he hasn't eaten since that afternoon. He's starving and his stomach makes sure he remembers with how loud it growls. ]

It's not going to be the best by far but it's not a bad yakisoba if I do say so myself.

[ Dabi sighs as he looks down at Fushi. Seems like he's going to be stuck here a little while longer. But... it's fine. Feels kind of nice soaking in the baby's warmth as well.

still rubbing at Fushi's back, Dabi follows Hawks out of the bedroom. He hasn't eaten all day and he has to admit, it's not a bad deal he's getting out of this. Even if he's not getting his dick sucked, this is alright. ]

I'll believe it when I see it.

[ Dabi plops himself in a chair as he watches Hawks for a moment, then looks down at the baby. ]

When's the lat time he ate? How're even feedin' h....

[ he trails off, then looks up at hawks with wide eyes. hawks had a baby. it came out of him. so does that mean... ]

Please tell me he doesn't suck on your tits.

[ Hawks wasn't expecting the question, he was reaching for some dishes and nearly drops them when he hears Dabi's question. He has to stop and make sure they are securely on the counter before he lets himself double over with laughter. ]

Oh..oh my god, Dabi.

[ The laughter seems to startle Fushi into silence as he looks around with the widest eyes before they stop on his dad and he starts giggling as if to match. Not that he has any idea what is funny but hsi dad is laughing and happy so it must be something good right. ]

No, he has formula. And he should probably be getting hungry soon. I'll heat up a bottle so go ahead and sit down.

[ His focus is more on Fushi who laughs and claps his hands together as Hawks reaches out to tap on his nose before looking back up at dabi through blonde lashes. ]

If you wanna sit down I can just bring it to you.

[ Dabi looks a little affronted when Hawks starts laughing, and gives him a loook. ]

It's a perfectly fuckin' valid question! You said ya shitted him outta your ass, so what am I supposed to think?

[ It's really quite funny that Fushi starts laughing along with Hawks, all his tears forgotten. And that's when it really feels like something is tugging at Dabi's insides. Laughter is something Dabi isn't used to. When he was little, it wasn't something he ever really got to have either. And yet, this tiny little baby is giggling along with his dad, and that's all kids should ever have, isn't it?
